Quinn Has mentioned to me that he has never bumped into another cacher while out on the hunt.  I on the other hand have run into quite a few. Was wondering how many of you have met up with others at a cache site and, who won the fight over the stash? :D

I ran into HF John around 7:00 on a Sunday morning at Quinns "Hogans Heroes" cache back in May. Quinn had put the cache out on Saturday evening & included the M&M Hitchhiker Dude. At the time, the Dude was the only traveller around, so I knew there would be a scramble to be the first to the cache. As I was getting off the path to enter the cache area, I saw someone about 100 yards behind on the path, walking briskly & looking at something in his hand. I had not even opened the cache container yet when he got to the cache. We talked for a bit, & then we took each others picture with the cache camera & walked out together. Me, with the Dude in my pocket :D .A week later, HF walked up just after I had finished logging "Bowters Back Yard" cache. So on 60 or so cache hunts, I've run into a fellow cacher only twice, & both times ,it was the same cacher.

I figured I would update this and mention that I also ran into LHR (Light house rocket) a couple weeks back while caching. Also met another Cacher but for the life of me I can't remember his user name. ???

We did a couple of caches in Harrisburg PA after a conference in DC.  We discovered a most excellant park and a group of newby geocachers discovered us.  They had covered a 500 foot area for over an hour.  Fearless talked to the older gentleman and told Eversure to "Look over there" just as Mike started to introduce all of us Eversure yells "I found it".  The guys jaw dropped.........His GPS was way ancient although I can't remember exactly what model. He was stunned at how accurate the new ones (Garmin III+) are.  They were very nice people and had alot of stories to share about the park that the cache was placed in (Boulder Point at Pinochet I think).

BTW went we meet cachers on the trail we let open up the cache bag and let them choose.  The PA people chose a James Gallow and friends CD and were most happy.  Unfortunately they never logged their visit.

Speaking of logging visits I have noticed in many of the caches I visit that the log book always contains about 30% more logs than the websites do. Not sure why as I like to post my finds here as well.
The logbook in "Ghosts Domain" is almost filled but this is also because it was the first cache in a wide area.

ok...sorry to stray from topic :p

Unfortunatey I've never met anyone on the trail even though I've hit 80 some caches.  I've been close (on the same day, or even within hours) many times but have yet to run into anyone.

As mentioned, I've met the Mighty Quinn, his brother Dave & mum-in-law Caron at several caches.

Early on, I met Phillipe at Hogan's Heros cache who was moving to California the next day.

I've run into Bob Bowter twice.

At St. Lawrence University in upstate NY, I looked up a cacher (& WheresGeorger) named Justin.

Other than those times I was meeting cachers at pre-arranged times and places, I've only met two.
Both were at the Happy New Years cache in Las Vegas while I was there for toriniku shiawase. (Thanksgiving)
The first was a family who was a ways behind me, but I waited on the sidelines for their kids to find the cache.
The other was a guy carrying a PLGR. Which is a military GPS unit that looks like a thick VHS tape, and offers only numeric readouts.
It's readings were almost identical to my Venture, though seeing them side-by-side was a sight to behold.

I also met cachers a few times . Actually a couple of weeks ago. I was out checking one of my caches and saw someone walking. They didn't look like they where caching. So I didn't bother running after them to see what they where doing in the area :(  I then noticed the log saying they found my cache easily when they followed some  other (me)cachers foot prints. I like meeting other cachers and chat about diff caches or check out their diff...units.

Finally met some fellow cachers on the trail.  Few weeks back I went down to morainne state park and hit all those caches.  Was hiking to one and this couple comes up to me and says your Mike aren't you.  I'm going yeah, and figured they had to be geocachers or friends of my relatives or something.  Anyway they tell me they had scene my log at another cache earlier and had also scene a picture of me in the paper.  So I was pumped to actually meet team Sebastian on the trail, unfortunately I think I scared them off cause they didn't stay to talk to long.  Not sure if it was the fact that I had no sleep at all the night before, that I was all caffeined up to stay awake, the big black crack addict circles under my eyes, that I had left Erie at 5:00 am to get down there as soon as it was light, the fact that had already hiked about 11 miles that day and probably looked pretty rough, or that MUST CACHE look in my eyes.  Regardless it was nice to finally meet someone on the trails anyway.

I've also met DXchallenged and the Hilton Family when they came in to Erie, but not on the trails.  About a week ago I met some fellowcachers at work to.  I'm currently (well til Tomorrow when I get ready to travel the south geocaching, visiting NP and grad schools) working an outdoor place.  Whenever hikers or backpackers come in I always turn the conversation towards GPS's then geocaching.  Well when I asked if they'd heard of it they were pumped and said they were huge into it.  So for the first time of plugging the sport and the site it was nice to meet someone who actually knew of it.  Talked to them for a good 20 minutes or so, seemed really nice, they'd just started a few weeks ago and loved it, the guy was already talking about how he had to be careful cause he was getting to the point of wanting to take off work.  Sent them this way as well so hopefully team Maxtrax will be joining us soon.

I have never met another geocacher while on the hunt for a cache. I did however run into The Blachwatch Clan while they were going after one my caches in a park not far from my work. Other than them, the only other geocacher I have ever met is Quinn. I guess I will meet more at the GT in June. I will be bringing Issaquah Puppy of course!

unless we had planned a meet, so that would not count.

There are thousands of caches in Texas, many of them listed on Navicache. Do a cache search on Texas to list them.

I have been geocaching for less than a year and have run into other cachers twice. Once last summer, and once on Dec. 30, 2006.  The cacher that we ran into on the 30th was in the afternoon. The strange part of this meeting is that he was the owner of the cache that we had found in the morning of the same day and the two caches were about 15 miles apart.
