I'm losing most of my hair so I have used IMeagle for everything internet related. Plus I love watching birds of prey out in the wild and figured why not use the greatest bird of prey for a mascot.

I was always a fan of the cartoon Magpie's from the old Disney times. It was the first thing that came to my mind and just stuck with it. :)

Mrs Ski's name reminds me of a pun, no offence intended:

Sorry but my Karma just ran over your Dogma.  :0 That is a bad pun.

My name is from two parts...

Skully because of my last name Scurlock people called me Skully.

:rotflmao "Seeker BP"   That says it all. I seek all that is fun, and hidden. And yes, those are my initials. New to this site. Thought I would sign up and see what happens on this end of the caching world. Not to many caches in my local area yet. May have to change that.

Well, kind of an old thread, but since it popped to the top of the list...

Fritz_Monroe     No idea where it came from.  Started using it as an alias in to log onto BBSes back in 1991.  It just popped into my head one day and I stuck with it.

And since my name is Greg Smith, it has nothing to do with my real name.

Well since it seems that this site is starting to grow lets just keep this topic open for awhile.
Tahosa is a Kiowan phrase that means Dweller of Mountain Tops or something like that.
I came across the name while visiting the information center for Rocky Mtn. National park, and my sidekick, who has known me for 30 years says that should be your Caching name.
And since I've always had a lot of respect for the Native Americans, and the way that they respected and worshiped the land, it was only fitting to adopt this name.

Like many geeks, at some point in the past I had a project that I was working on "on the side".  Of course, at the time, it seemed like a great idea that was bound to take off, so I needed a company to support such a great project.  A buddy and I were tossing out names on the way to our day jobs.  It was December (or maybe January) and snowing/blowing like crazy.  Windchill Technologies was the name that stuck.

Despite years of internetting and BBSing, including running my own BBS for five years, windchill didnt get used as a handle until I discovered geocaching.  In fact, it didnt even get used here (actually at gc.com) until after I had logged my first find.

I am Chief of my Tundra.  And that is where my authority begins and ends.  Normally that would be the end of the story but I also have done some wildife research in habitats above timberline so I have some fond memories of the living things in that sphere.  Also, the real authority in my life has had silver hair for many years so she became Silverhare - using the native American rendition.  That coupled with TundraChief made us a pair.  We too are fond of the native American philosophy of taking only what is required to sustain life.

Hi All.

'Schon' is the standard alias I use for everything I do online;  when I started (with a C64 - which may give you an idea of exactly how long ago it was), I used a different one for various 'nefarious' purposes. when I started up my own BBS, I decided I wanted a new one, to present a 'respectable' image :)

I got the name Schön from a book - the character had multiple personalities, and was both the main antagonist and protagonist.  I thought it fit nicely with my reasons for the new alias.

For me, it was a "no brainer".

I was given the nickname "Dudley Grunt" about 1984 or so by one of the owners of the comic shop that my friends and I frequented.  He gave each of us names like this.

The others were Squiggy Loot, Buster Nibbs, Deacon Fahrley, and Oscar Newton.  We've each used our names for various on-line aliases since, but I've never had anyone actually call me Dudley until I started caching.

There was a sketch show on the CBC in Canada during the 1980s (was on radio prior to that). One of the sketches was Mr. Canoehead, "Canada's aluminum crime fighter, brother of Ted". He was 'once a mild mannered insurance salesman who one day while portaging his aluminum canoe through Algonquin Park was suddenly hit by a giant bolt of lightning and had the canoe welded to his head.'

I've always been an outdoorsy type so the idea of a canoe for a head stuck with me. Many years later, I was creating my first webmail account and wanted something other than just my first and lame name. I remembered Mr. Canoehead but it was already taken (popular idea in Canada) so I made it one word, all lower case and appended my birthday. All my online identities have been the same since.

mch - I had no idea the origin of your name.  Maybe now I'll stop thinking of your as macaroni head.  Are you familiar with The Flaming Carrot?  He wears a giant carrot on is head as his costume.  He's the blue collar crime fighting protector of Iron City.

JJW - Sometimes simple is good.
