There's been a fair bit of unhappyness over at that other site just recently..... I think a few people over there would love to join you. But, IMHO, the feel of your site is a wee bit, well, dull... Would it not be an idea to brush up the looks a bit, to make it a little more enticing to come in?

Cheers,
Tony.

Well, we have forums, we have chat, we have database submission and retrieval (free), we have FAQ's and links, we have a Gallery and more. If you had something specific in mind feel free to post it or drop us a note via the contacts page. We will take a look and consider all suggestions.

The Navicache team has the most patience that anybody could ask for. I have been using this site now for over two years and all is well. During that time though, I constantly thought of ways that Navicache could improve or get new members. Nowadays I realize the sport is growing at a rapid pace and the Navicache team will most likely never sell out and become commercial. Of course Navicache does sell a few items, but I highly doubt that they could quit their day jobs.
As pc medic has posted, this site has alot to offer, especially when you get use to it. :wave

I realize theres another thread for this somewhere, but since i'm reading this one...
I'd like to suggest that the forum background be changed. I think its cool that the older compass logo is still used/incorperated, but its too big and too much a 'shadow' for most (I think) to recognize. Most of the time large parts are blocked, so it comes out looking (to me anyways) like a fuzzy textured background   :(

Not sure if this is the right spot to post this but here goes.

I wonder if it would be possible to include Canadian postal codes in the search page?  The city name doesn't always work (eg, if I use "Surrey") I end up in Nova Scotia which is several thousand kms from the Surrey I know.

Another thing I like to see change, is to get those darn "clickable smilies" out of the way. It's difficult to concentrate with that one rolling back and forth. (I would insert an emoticon here but, well you understand.)

The actual functions of your website are great..... I'm more thinking more of the look and feel... I'm sorry, but I'm no graphic designer, so I probably couldn't do any better.... So, any suggestions I make should probably be taken lightly (for example, Can we have white backgrounded text box's.... lt-blue seams to make everything blend in). Cheers..... Also, agree with removing those anoying smilys!

When you refer to the Lt-Blue text boxes, do you mean here in the forums or else where on the site (ie; cache list)?
Also, what browser and Operating System are you using.

I ask as we have tested across various OS's and browsers without problems. Thise that did see an issue with the blue background in the cache list area found it was due to a video setting on their system.

I will definitely keep a watch and changes if needed can be made. Probably not 'white' however as in the past, many complained that was not easy on the eyes, which promtped the first change.

I agree that this site could use some sprucing up. The interface is terrible and it's often really difficult to navigate and find what you're looking for. A consistent menu system (on every page) would be a huge improvement.

The munu actually is consistant through out the site with the exception of Galleries (which currently launches in a new window any way) and cache pages (which have limited menu opyions for obvious reasons).

However if you would like to be more specific as to what/where you find navigating the site hard, I will certainly take a look. This would be the perfect time as I am currently in the process of reviewing and updating many of the sites pages.

Any one that visits here regular knows we are always open to suggestions and add/change things as may be needed. Does this mean every idea is implemented, certainly not, but most are.

I see the compass background is gone :)
New New and Noteworthy section and scrolling sign as well.
And the links bar at the top is now centered and smaller!

Yes it seemed 50/50 on the embossed Navicache logo background (some liked it, some didn't). Figured I would remove it and see what sort of reaction it produced. I take it by the smiley you are happy it was removed?

Yes 'New and Noteworthy' now appears on the main page (which has been redesigned).

Also new/updated sponsor section to replace old ones on relevant pages to reflect changes to Navi-Tee and other available Navicache.com branded items as well as to add reference to a new partner. (use of these is encouraged by the way, great products and helps pay server costs! :grinnin )

The smaller centered menu (links bar) I am assuming you are referring to the one here in the forums. This was not really intended and is the effect of some work in progress. This will most likely change soon.

I notice that when I go from the main home page (where there are 10 menu items) to My Navicache page, that four of the menu items disappear.

When I click on the "Hide a Cache" link from My Navicache page, a never before seen link to "Planning a Cache" appears (but I don't see that link from anywhere else on the site).

Conspicuously missing from the menu system is a link to Navicache logo products.

There are other inconstencies that I've come across with the menu system but the above one's are the most notable.

Please don't take this as complaining -- there's not much more that I'd like to see than your site becoming more predominent. Consistency with the site design and interface will make the site much easier to use.

PS: Glad to see the embossed log gone.

During the original design process, it was felt that certain menu options would be redundant to display in certain sections of the site. This is the cause for some of the menu differences from section to section. Another issue was the particular menu design being used and its limitations. The menu will be changing soon and this will be less of an issue with all (or most) options being the same on every page.

This page is accessed via a graphical image link located at the bottom of most pages on the site (Sponsor Section)

Not at all, I appreciate both kudos and critique alike. This is how we can see what our visitors like or dislike.

Seems to be a common feeling among those that have commented lately.

Thanks again for the comments.

Yes.
I like the navicache compass logo, but as I said before how it was being used in the background it looked like a mishappen texture background
