Before I start and get into this up to my head, I want to be sure I understand what members are really Interested in having on the website. Please feel free to loo around some and let me know your thoughts and opinions. I think it would be helpful if I could see what others like in a site as well as what makes it tick.
Once i have a good enough list we'll look it over and try to come up with ideas and scripts to bring this to life.

Is there a way I can edit the personal information I used when I registered? I notice that there's now an icon for emailing a cache hider. I'd like to change the email address associated with me.

OH!...I forgot to mention that a feature has been added for new members to allow an e-mail address to be shown on all caches submitted. this will let people who may need some help e-mail you to ask for any. If you have submitted a cache and or are a member that would like to have his/her e-mail address showing, please contact me and I'll edit your member status until we have the members editing feature up and running :)

I wanted to inform everyone that we here at the Navicache site have added a new crewman to help us with the additions that are upcoming to the website. We hope to have several things that will by far enhance what we already have here for caching purposes. Without giving too much away as to what is in the works I would like to ask you guys what it is that you would like to see added and why? These feedbacks are important to us so that we can try and deliver the items that our members and visitors feel would be of help to them as well as interesting. I won't go into our new members name at this moment, but I can assure you that with his help we will be able to speed up the process of making this site one for the bookmarks. So please by all means look around and don't be shy (which I am sure none of you are) we really want to know what is on your mind as far as wants and wish lists. Once all feedback has been looked over we will try to reply here as to what we think we can deliver and in what sort of time frame. Thanks again for for all your help as it is you all that make this site what it is. :)

This was brought up in another forum before, actually by me I think  :p , but I'd like a free way to track hitch hikers.  If we could give hitchikers a page like a cache page I think that may increase the likelihood that people would actually log on and keep us updated on them.  My Grandalf hitchiker left the MT. Erie cache in washington many months ago and I haven't heard a word about him since.

One of the problems with hitch-hikers is they tend to be the better find inside a cache. For that reason I think they sometimes disappear because they become keepers instead of travelers as intended.

This is still something that we can look into implemeting however. I would also prefer to keep this to a unique name vs an ID Number type of tracking system also. Keeps it more personable and easier to fit in with a theme than a boring old number.

I'd hate to think of poor old Grandalf stuck in somebody's house and never making it home   ah well.

I do think a name does keep it more personal as well, only reason I had considered a number is I figured it might be easier for you guys making the site, but if a name is just as easy it's far superior.

A free way to track hitchhikers would help boost the number. How many fewer caches would we have today if people had to pay $5.95 plus shipping and handling to get some kind of dog tag to attach to their cache container before a site would register it?

Would folks make their own indicators of the tracking name?

Let's say I place a flashlight traveler named "bright eyes" in a cache. Should I etch the travel ID name "!dark" on it's side?

I guess I'm just trying to understand how this would work so that anyone who found this would know how/where to log and track the item.

Sure, why not? To standardize it, the Web site can have a ready-made form and fill in whatever ID you supply. Just print it and attach it. The form can have all the instructions needed for the finder to log it.

You can take this one step farther by having the Web site generate an updated form each time the hitchhiker is logged, detailing its travels. If the finder hasn't already placed the hitchhiker in another cache, he can swap tags and send the hitchhiker on its way with up-to-date history. It seems to me the hitchhiker would be more likely to get logged if finders saw immediately where all it's been.

I still like the idea of NaviCoins or something that would be a self explanatory. The URL/serial # stamped right on it with a Caching Calvin on the face.

I think tokens can be made pretty inexpensively.

Alternatively, something that would slowly dissipate.
Like a deck of cards where you take one and pass the rest on, but unlike a deck of cards - designed to decrease in numbers over time.

You hommies down wit dat? (Okay, time to change the channel on the TV)

I really like this idea. That might make the difference in travels being updated.

Listing found not/found on a cache.

Someone came up with this idea about an hour ago. I like this idea!  It's too simple and effective not to use.

The icons could be different and this forum doesn't allow more than six. The concept is sound though. How about an open tresure chest-vs-a closed one with a question mark?

How about a scoreboard? With rankins based on scores, and numbers found, hidden, etc etc? That might be kinda cool, and not too difficult.

You can go on the web and have wooden nickels made very inexpensively ($40. a hundred, or $116. per 1000)...

This may not be the right forum to report this, but I noticed that the Topozone.com and Mapquest links on a cache page will open another instance of my browser.  It would be nice for consistency if the LostOutdoors.com link also did this.  Anything outside of Navicache.com proper should open another instance of the browser.  This was fixed with the Buxley's Maps link a few months ago. :oo:
