Hello,

opencaching.de is now online for a month ...

I was asked from various users of opencaching if there could be an interface to navicache to import caches and/or logs. I know there is the xml-interface and the open-cache-flag.

Before i start to implement an interface to import caches from navicache, i wanted to ask

(1) if you allow opencaching.de to use your data - i think i will do it only with user-interaction ... the user on opencaching.de has to say "this is the navicache-waypoint of the cache i want to import to opencaching"

(2) is navicache interested in importing opencaching-caches/logs? If so, we could implement a fully-automated inteface without user-interaction - Opencaching-Caches and -Logs would be showed on navicache and vice versa. Sure, this would be a lot of work, but also the user-friendly way ...

Cooperation wished?

Thanks for feedback!

Is there anything going on behind the scenes about this issue? We now have a cache where we will have to update the description in regular time steps, so I would prefer if I only have to visit Opencaching.de for the update but have our cache also listed here.

Greetings,
Tobias

At this time there is no common interface between the sites that would allow posting a cache (or find) to Opencaching.de and have it automatically appear here as well. We do allow outbound sharing of our data and with the proper script is possible for other sites to synch their databases to ours however.

Just ask your users to flag their caches and logs as "Non-commercial use only" or "Unrestricted". :)

It is difficult, at the present time, for us to implement a fully automated data exchange... perhaps in the future?

Nah... that's too easy!  Let's go up and over!
Why follow a trail when we can blaze our own? :p

We *make* mountains out of mole hills!
