I use the aerial images on LOSTOUTDOORS.COM and MS TERRASERVER quite often, not only for GPS activities, but for other research uses.  Most of the images are from 1998 or so.

Does anyone know of any location to get more recent aerial images?

Try Terraserver.com (not to be confused with MS Terraserver). They have a liot from 2000 -2002 depending on the area.

Give Google Maps (http://maps.google.com) a try, they seem to have some of the latest sat and aerials for most areas.  You can also download Google Earth, it uses the same data.
