Lately I've been getting more and more problems with incomplete downloads.  Usually Tracks, which end with a 'Buffer Overrun' error when I try to do a download from the GPSr.

Sometimes, restarting the download cures the problem, at other times it does not.

I use my GPSIII+ with a TH-D7E (Hand held rig with built in TNC for APRS) but even if I go out without connecting the H/H the problem seems to occur.

Any Ideas?

Morseman..have you checked to be sure there are no updates at the Garmin website for your IIIPlus?
Gary (Gimpy) may have a better answer for you as he has one also and keeps in the "Know" :)

I've never seen this before, Morseman. I've been running the III Plus since March, 2001, & it has never given me an error of any kind. Unit has been rock solid since the day I got it. Couldn't begin to guess what's causing it. ???

Well, it was good advice, but only up to a point.  I now have an updated version of MapSource, so I can load some files that I'd not been able to in the past.  :)

I've also confirmed that the firmware in my GPSIII+ is the latest one anyway.

However, the Buffer Overrun problem still continues.  :(

It seems to happen with both the Track uploads from the GPSr and the map downloads to the GPSr.

I'm wondering if it's because I use a switch to select either the GPSr or the telephone modem?  I wonder if this might cause problems, anyone had experience of putting a switch in the line between PC and GPSr?  I'll do a test or two and see what happens...

Being a computer tech, I am going to bet that the switch is a very good suspect. I see this all the time with external CD drives and printers connected via hubs and switch boxes.

It certainly is worth a shot to try it without the switch-box.
