After about a month's hiatus for retooling, MinuteWar is about to start a new game. Visit the Web site for more information and to join the game.

I think the Navicachers tended to congregate on team "N" in Game 1, but that was only 3 or 4 players, I think. Not all have signed up for Game 2. And team "N" is already overstaffed for Game 2, so if you do play, I encourage you to sign up for team "E" or "S", who need the players.

As for rules, they can be found at http://MinuteWar.org/rules.htm.

I'm on Team S.  Come on in, the co-ords are fine!  ;)

You also need to take the poll on how many captures a week you  can make.  I voted one, but I'll probably make more than that, at least at first, depending on what the actuall map looks like.  Check out the Minute War Web site.  You'll also need to sign up for Yahoo Groups to get on the Minute War message board.

I hope we get a dedicated board for Minute War, I really don't like Yahoo anymore.  :(

Game 2 of MinuteWar has just been won by "The Knights Who Say 'EEE'". I know that team's Morseman is a regular here. Maybe we'll hear from him what the game was like.

As a novice to the Minute War game, I am thankful that the Knights invited me to join their team as an observer so I could learn what the game was all about.  I signed up for only 1 move a week, not expecting to have time to do anything.  But alas, it did not take me long to get the hang of what it was all about.  Spent a lot of time researching and hunting those illusive flags.  And wet conditions did not detour me too bad.

Thanks again to the Knights Who Say EEEast!

Sorry for the delay,

Been a bit busy.

I managed to log a few squares early in the game, and then domestic duties got in the way a bit.

My main contribution, if I'm honest, was to allow "my" moves to be used for the two 'final' pushes.

I missed seeing the capture reports, but not having them on the main discussion board was good from the point of view of keeping my in-box relatively clear.

I still notice a tendency for players who are in quite different time zones than the 'main' players to be left out of the equation.  But, as I say, that might have had something to do with my lack of time during the vital days of captures for the end game.

All in all, I enjoyed Game 2, but I'd need to sort out the MWC board (it wont fit properly on my screen) or to get a system that would keep a board updated on the move cout available to be in a better possition to know how I and the team I'm on are doing.

Did you try using the board on the Web site in Game 2? In Game 1, the board bogged down badly, but it should have been much more responsive in Game 2.

Yes I did, Scout,

It seemed very good.  I did have to mentally swap over from one system to the other, as the MWC board put the squares as a mirror image of the Web site board.

In comparison, the web board was good because I could use scroll bars to get around the playing area, whereas the MWC board was a bit awkward as the bottom couple of rows were hidden.  However, the MWC board was better for seeing the scores as well as the playing area.

The Web game board's orientation is determined by the lat/lon you specify on the home page.

The MWC game board's orientation can be changed by clicking in the corners.

Thanks for the advice on MWC.  Have you any suggestions for getting it to fit onto the screen properly, or how to active the scroll bars?

Thanks.

The only solution I know of is to increase the resolution of your monitor. Sorry.
