I found my 2100th geocache this weekend.  The cache in question was also my 10th and final find for Cache Across Maryland (CAM) 2010.  CAM is a yearly event put on by the Maryland Geocaching Society that involves finding 10 new (not yet published) caches placed from one end of the state to the other.  By finding all 10, you collect information that allows you to decipher the location of a follow up picnic in May.

My current count:
...12 Navicache (non-crosslisted finds only)
...75 TerraCaching
2023 Groundspeak

Congratulations! Those CAM caches sound like a really fun idea. I am sure you will have fun in May at that picnic.

Been so long since I have placed a cache. Working on one hell of a doozy with several twists to it. i'll update when it's placed.

Quinn - Just noticed recently that you and PC Medic seem to be in the VA Beach area.  That's not TOO far for me.  Especially, if you put some new physical NC caches out, I may decide to take a trip down that way.

I'm making plans for my 2200th geocache find for this Saturday at the Iwo Jima Memorial and expect to have an FTF on a 6 year old virtual - February 23 (N011ED).  Just before that, I'll use the same monument to complete the requirements for my 2100th find on Groundspeak with and immediately after use it to log my 86th find on TerraCaching.

Then, I'll be moving "next door" to do some other virtuals and mutli's based in Arlington National Cemetery.

Congrats on your milestones Dudley!  The Iwo Jima cache sounds fun.  I'm kicking myself for not looking up NC while I was in DC.  I'll get them next time right?

I did manage to make it official with and logged my 2200th geocache find with an FTF on February 23 (N011ED) (USMC / Iwo Jima Memorial) (and my 2100th Groundpeak cache with Uncommon Valor (GC4F35)).

I visited the USAF Memorial just south of Arlington National Cemetery and while at ANC, visited...

* the graves of 3 of the Marines who raised the flag on Iwo Jima.
* the grave of President William Taft
* the grave of President John F. Kennedy
* the grave of Robert F. Kennedy
* the grave of Edward (Teddy) Kennedy
* the grave of Audie Murphy
* the grave of Abner Doubleday
* the grave of Robert Todd Lincoln
* the grave of Edward P. Doherty (do you know what his claim to fame was?)
* memorials for the Space Shuttles Challenger and Columbia
* a memorial of the Pan Am Flight 103 Lockerbie bombing
* a memorial to the Iranian hostage rescue attempt
* a 9/11 memorial for American Flight 77 & Pentagon
* The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
* Arlington House
* the Civil War Tomb of the Unknowns

And, of course, had the honor of being being in the company of countless American heroes who sacrificed much, often all, in defense of our nation.

All of this involved walking about 7 miles around Arlington National Cemetery over the course of 6 hours in a humid 95 degrees.  Luckily, I brought just enough water to last me through this longer then expected visit.

I'm glad to have finally made my first visit to Arlington, despite being a life long Washington area resident.  If you have the chance, be you should definitely make the trip.  I'd even be willing to join you, if I can.

It is a very sobering experience isnt it? Glad you finally got to do it & made it a milestone special.Thats how it was for me for my #1000 at the Fallen FireFighters Memorial up by Taneytown. Each of my 100 finds I try to make it either a FF Memorial or 1 for our Military Vets. It just increases the significance.

Good job on your numbers.

I logged a double milestone yesterday with Craighill Channel Lower Range Front Lighthouse (TCCMQ) by SoccerFanatics.  I was both my 100th TerraCahe and my 2300th overall cahe find.

(100 TerraCaching /  15 Navicache / 4 OpenCaching US / 2181 another site that doesn't like to be mentioned in the same breath as the others)

Thanks.  I also logged my 2200th GC.com find yesterday at the National Fallen Firefighters' Memorial in Emmitsburg, MD.

New Milestones on Black Friday (26 Nov)

I have now, officially, logged my 2400th geocache - Indian Mission by DragonRebel (TC4UK), a TerraCaching virtual in Hollyville, DE.  I visited the site on 12 November, but had to return yesterday to collect Confirmation Code information.

Yesterday, I also found my 100th GC.com virtual cache - Tour Around Seaford by Hostanut & LadyH (GC7355) in Seaford, DE.

More importantly than either of these milestones, it was a day spent caching with my son.  He turns 14 in less than 2 weeks and has been developing that common teenage allergy to his parents.  When I got home on my 12 November trip, he actually asked me why I hasn't asked him to go - until he remembered he's had school that day.  He especially likes the Delmarva area, so was particularly open to it.  He even seemed to enjoy himself, though, by 4:30 in Rehoboth Beach, he was wanting to turn around and head toward home.  Luckily, for him, we couldn't really go much farther east and it was going to start getting dark before long, so I was agreeable.

All in all, a great day.

Just noticed I hit a sort of milestone this past Saturday. I now have exactly 250 non-gc.com cache finds.

170 TerraCaching + 53 OpenCachingUS + 27 Navicache.

I'm hoping to hit 300 by the end of the year.

I recently hit 3000 finds.  I'm just a bit confused when.

First I thought is was Who's Buried in Grant's Tomb-James Buchanan? (TCD4Z) on Columbus Day (10 Oct), but then when I got home and was catching up on my logging from the weekend, I noticed that I seemed to only have 27 Navicache finds, not the 28 I'd thought I had.  This was per both my NC stat banner and my profile page.  I thought it was wrong, so I manually counted my Found longs on the NC profile page and came up with 27.

Urgh!

So, I figured I must have just been wrong.  It was OK, though, since cycleangela published 2 new OCUS multi's near home I could go after this past Saturday (15 Oct).  I even called Podcacher and retracted my previous milestone voicemail and called in a new one, when I found MPEA - Connecting the Trails (OU0353).

Since then, I have confirmed that I did have 27 Navicache finds BEFORE I logged Mile Marker 45 - Shire Town Frederick (N02541) on Sunday, 9 October.  However, I don't know why my NC stat banner does show 28 (as of the last couple days), but my Navicache profile page still claims I only have 27.  Only thing that makes sense is that the stat banner (which can lag behind) finally updated late last week, just before some NC cache owner deleted a previous find of mine.  I'm trying to check with PCMedic and Scout to see if there is anyway they might be able to help me figure out which NC cache find I'm missing.

Sometimes folks tell me that one reason they don't mess with the "alternative" sites is that it would be too hard to keep track of.  I guess I'm getting little bit of that now.

I believe I now have....

2738 GC.com
0174 TerraCaching.com
0060 OpenCaching.US
0028 Navicache.com (or 27)
0003 GPSgames.org
3003 TOTAL FINDS

I logged my 299th and 300th non-Groundspeak caches yesterday - both at N 39 00.000 W77 00.000.

#299 was "The 39/77 Confluence Cache" (TCHMJ) by SoccerFanatics and #300 was the locationless virtual "No Minutes, No Seconds" (N02E42) by tripman1. The latter was also my 30th Navicache find.

075 OpenCaching North America
030 Navicache
