My caching friend, scrubjay1986, and I took a "virtual tour" of DC on Saturday (6/27) and got two First to Finds and one Second to Find on caches published 5 years and 1 week earlier!
Each was "placed" by bacgmz in June 2004 - Smokey's Blues, Bonhomme Richard and Freedom Fighter. It is sad to think of how many geocachers have gone to DC in this time to hunt the virtuals and have walked right by these, possibly even thinking it was a shame that GC doesn't allow virts anymore and that these couldn't be listed.
I introduced scrubjay to both Navicache and Terracaching and she should be signing up for accounts this week to log the ones we found together. Unlike one friend of mine, she didn't refer to these as being something other than "actual caches" - meaning Groundspeak.
We had a blast, BTW, and found approximately 25 virtuals and one EarthCache in 13 hours of walking around DC.
