I wonder if, like me, anyone on here used to be interested in the "all games" overall statistics?  Scout had to remove them because they took so long to be calculated and displayed on slow machines that people, like me, got bored waiting and cancelled the calculation before it was displayed.

The individual records are still available, and I've looked at them in MS Excel.  However, I wonder if people would be interested if I were to post the 'all games' scores, say at the end of each game, on here in a simple table?

If a few people say yes, I'll do it.  If only one or two are interested I'll send them direct from the message centre on this system.

I'm interested......My caching is way down and I had expected to go over the 100 mark this comming weekend......but we will be showing our house so that we can move into the next one............

so looking at the stats would provide a nice change of pace.......

BTW......how do you compute points on navicache?  It doesn't appear to be a straight count of caches found........

I think we may have a bit of a missunderstanding here.  :)

The stats I'm talking about are from the Geodashing game, which Scout runs, and would show the number of points gained by the various players.  There's a number of us who use this forum who are active.

There's a CSV file, which Scout makes available, which I've imported to MS Excel, that can be analysed to show who has the most points overall or game by game.  Each new months starts a new game, and "we" (those that take part) are playing game 12 at the moment.

There's a website at http://geodashing.home.attbi.com/ which gives all the rules and descriptions of what goes on.

If you've done all the geocaches in your area, maybe Geodashing would be another use for your GPS receiver, and another excuse to get out in the open air?   :^:

Thanks anyway for the info....Hey where can I find out how the points are calculated on navicache.......my number is way over the actual number of caches that I have found.

thanks again!!

No problem, I've done the same thing myself and posted replies without reading the banner at the top.  Especially when, like now, I'm using the 'New Posts' search to look at what's been posted since I last logged on.   :D

The number of 'stars' is nothing more than a count of the number of postings you have made to the forums.  So, in fact, you could become a really top notch geocacher without ever finding a cache.  Just by posting loads of messages.

It's been, or is possibly being, discussed in other forums.

Eventually, I'll write a script to display the "all games" statistics again. In the meantime, anything you publish will be most appreciated, either here or on the Geodashing mailing list.

Great news on the plans for 'All Games' being reintroduced, but quite understand that there are probably other projects that are more important.

I'm in the process of cutting the data into games and individual lists, and I'll prepare a list of stats as soon as  am able.

I suppose, if  were feeling brave, I could set up a web site with graphs and tables.  All I need to do now is figure out how!  :smart

AquaDyne took on the challenge and wrote the script to restore the "all games" statistics. It's now available on the Geodashing scoreboard page. Thanks, AquaDyne.
