I was wondering if anyone knew of any GPS clubs in the Columbia, SC area? It would be nice to meet with other gps'ers and learn a lot more about using the GPS. I was using a used Magellan 2000 XL for geocaching but just bought a new Meridian Platinum which should arrive today or tomorrow. I am sorta intimidated by all the functions that this thing has and would like to learn by more than just a "trial and error" method.

Don't be intimidated by the Meridian Platinum, it is a great unit and very easy to learn and use.

As for clubs in the Columbia S.C area, there is the South Carolina Geocachers Association. Their site appears to be still in the startup stages with many of the features still not working and I believe the bulk of that group is out of the Florence area (about 80 miles East). Maybe post a message here in our  South East forum and find a couple other cachers in your area then you can always start your own group/club as well.

Of course until you find some locals you will always find folks more than happy to help with any questions right here in the forums.
