|My virtual is a man made geological curiosity that you don't see very often. I wanted it to be virtual because it is in a known party area for locals even though it is somewhat remote. Also it is right on the border of Mark Twain National Forest (probably on NFS property as it's right next to a forest service road). I could ask permission but have done volunteer work with this department and don't want to cause any heartburn. |
Also it is over an hour drive away and I've seen one too many caches in poor condition. I'm more into the location, I could care less about the physical cache but I do understand the fun it provides others.
So what are the guidelines for virtuals at this site?
Ummm... from what i understand from years dealingwith the forestry service here in KY ( long story , different sort of outdoor activities) ,there are no blanket NFS regulations on cacheing HOWEVER, the responsible thing to do is contact the ranger district in the 'neck o' the woods' where you plan to place your cahce... national PARKS department hold a blanket national ban on caches of ANY sort ( how would they know about a Virtual, though?) including virts.
If I were one of the powers that be, I would not deny your virt. might give ya greif for not planting a log book somewhere though
