Like many of you, I discovered geocaching inadvertently. I was reading a book entitled A Cache of Corpses and was introduced to it there. Since I like hiking with my dog, do some cycling, fly fishing, golfing, shoot competitively in IDPA, and generally enjoy the outdoors, I was a natural for it. Not to mention I love gadgets and have been trying to justify the purchase of a handheld GPS. So here’s geocaching and I found my justification! I found a great deal on a Garmin 60CSx which will come in very handy for recording fly fishing locations as well.
I live in Hickory, NC and will enjoy geocaching in the Western Mountain regions. If any of you are nearby, let me know. I’m a baby boomer still working but plan on putting some time aside to geocache.
By the way, the alias “uglybuzzard” doesn’t represent how I look but came about while I was trying to join a forum because all the names I chose where taken. At that moment the name UGLYBUZZARD popped into my head and I’ve been using ever since. After all, who wants to be called an ugly buzzard?
