Something strange has been happening for the last week or so (at least that's how long I noticed it).  Sometimes (can't figure out what makes it happen) when I log on the forums show a bunch of topics as not having been read yet.  The weird thing is that I have read all of them and even hit the mark all posts as read button.  The stranger thing is it doesn't happen all the time, everything will be normal and then all of a sudden It's bringing up posts from 3 days ago saying that that I haven't read them yet.  This is something that recently just started occuring.  Am I the only one getting this?

Hmm, I haven't seen this issue.

Do you access the site from more than one PC?
What browser do you use, and do you have cookies enabled?

Mostly Just the one PC (though I know that it will come up different on the other PC becuase of the diff cookies stored there.  But it's not from that I could be on the same machine 4 days in a row and the 4th day it happens).

I.E. 6.02 (or whatever the newest is) (I know I know I used to be all anti microsoft but Netscapes newest one was buggy way back when and I just got hooked :( , to lazy to try opera)

Yep cookies are enabled, and navicache is set to always allow cookies.

I couldn't figure it out either, chances are it's something on my end.

I believe I've seen this before and I remember commenting on it. It may still be happening, but I can't be sure because I've come to just ignore the icons. Sorry I can't be of more help in pinning it down, but I do believe it's real and has been around a long time. Instead I look at the date of the last post and try to remember when I last read the forums. That's good enough for me.

Hmmm...I believe you both, just that I too have not seen this before. I am wondering what could be the cause of this?
Maybe we can pin point it better if anyone else is having the same problem.

My only thing is that after reading a post I have to go down to "mark all posts as read" to clear them, other wise it remains as Unread.

Maybe that's all I'm seeing. I'm not in the habit of marking all posts read, so I tend to see the icon for unread posts even in forums where I've read everything. That gets me out of the habit of even looking at the icon, which gets me even more out of the habit of marking all posts read, since I don't use the icon anyway. It's a vicious circle...

But the nice thing is that I don't really mind. It's not  important.

hmmm, just happened again.  I was on this site about I don't know 1/2 hour ago, marked all posts etc.  I ended up restarting my computer and logging back on, and posts all the way back to the 19th were coming up.  Went totype this up and it said I wasn't logged in, logged in and the same thing posts all the way back to the 19th were still showing.  It may be that it's some weird logged in not logged in thing going on.  Ahh welll, not a huge deal anyway.
My PC has many other problems, like a new soundcard that keeps crapping out.  :(

Definitely beginning to sound like a Cookie problem.

Do a search on your system for "navicache".
You should find 1 or 2 files in your cookies folder.
Delete them, restart your browser and then come back to the forums.

I wish I could help but I delete *all* cookies (almost) every time I close IE5.5.

OK, I've gotten into the habit of going down to the bottom of the page and "marking all posts read." And the next time I enter the forums, the posts are recognized has having already been read.

But if I don't click that button, next time the posts show as unread, whether I've read them or not.

Something is still not working quite right. But it's not a big deal for me.
