I usually leave some form of form in my caches that says:

"This is a geocache and if you'd like it removed call..."

I've been using a standard form that I grabbed off the corporate cache site.

Has anyone drawn something up here?

"You've found a Navicache/geocache, more info at Navicache.com"

I'm sure some of you have, is there a link to a generic form that I just didn't see? I can type something up, but I thought it would be a good idea to stay within some guidelines.

Other than the URL, anything different about the forms you folks have cranked out?

Actually yes we do, and your message just brough to my attention that in the reworking of the site, some of our pages were dropped from the menu.

You can find our Stash Note here.

I've made myself a combination of the two, (trying to spread the word to the unwise masses), I post on both sites and feel both deserve credit (although this is my home).  I also include my email address and say that I'm the cache owner and can be emailed there.

Gimpy has his own! It says " If you found this cache on purpose or by mistake, then you most likely walked through every pricker and thorn bush this side of Kansas to get to it, and by the way, you now have poison Ivy" :grinnin

:)

I have to get out there within the next couple months for one of the famous Gimpy poison IVY caches, along with the rest of the navicache ones.

Cmon up, mikechim. I've been out the last couple of weekends with my brother-in-law, kind of breaking him in to caching, & theres a great selection of caches in the area. Even with the shorter winter days, a full day of caching should net you 7 to 10 finds with no problem. That is, of course, unless a few of us meet you for lunch at one of our local establishments & we change some co-ordinates in your gps while your off draining some liquid refreshments. :grinnin Darn winter weather sure has put a damper on our poison ivy crop, though. ???

Gimpy has his own!

I like this idea of the custom cache sheet.

I'll modify the heck out of the Navi-cache form and sprinkle it with a little humor as the Gimpmeister has so admirably shown possible.

How do ya'll feel about a mirror on a poll as being part of a geocachers equipment list? I sure could have used one this morning..... grumble

Oh - If only to take this thread completely off topic, has any thought been given to waypoint naming?

I vote for four characters in hex surrounded by dashes

-I8U7-   -Y6T5-  Seems like this would stand out.

Oh - Yeah !!!!

Another idea I came up with while in the shower this morning was bulk purchases.

Many people who are active in this hobby buy ammo cans - GPSr - Trinkets - Outdoor clothing and all sorts of stuff.

I know that Navicache has a couple links to outside vendors but what about the idea of having cachers from around the world step forward and order in larger quantities?

Items that are manufactured/sold in small quantities could
have the weight of a huge chunk of the community behind them.

For instance, my local REI doesn't carry a large selection of GPSr, it's not worth it for them to have stock on hand so the selection is low. The odds of them stocking Rino's when they come out are nill.

If 500 cachers submitted a buy order for Rino's with enough advance notice for Garmin to factor this into their run, maybe a small discount would be in order.

I've heard of websites that do this sort of thing....

I'm not suggesting that anyone go to great lengths, but it seems to me that money talks. If people could come here to save a few bucks they might just do so.

Your milage as always may vary - I'm just spitting out ideas and never invest any emotion so feel free to reject/point/laugh at any of them.

I know return you to your normally scheduled cache hunt.

Actually each cache page already has a "Waypoint" ID now... just look under the date on a cache page and it's right there. You can use this Cache as an example. This number is generated for future things coming soon!
We had a cache in our area that required the use of a mirror in order to locate a cache. It was a pretty cool idea and tons of fun. The weather here is supposed to head up to 40ish by Sunday (at the time of this posting) so I intend on grabbing a cache or two just to hold me until spring.

I'm glad those waypoints weren't snakes...

I guess I was looking in the wrong spot or something but it's plain as the nose on your face.

Pay attention or pay the piper is what my Mamma used to say.
