I've recently been wondering exactly what "Rank" means as used on the Navicache Stat Banner (below).  Not sure why I've never thought of it before, but now I'm curious.  Currently, I have 12 finds, 12 hides (only 11 on banner) and a Rank of 24.

I searched the forums for "rank" and "ranking", but only found discussions about forum rankings and website rankings.

I don't see this same rank measurement anywhere else, either.  On "MyNavicache", I have scores for my total hides and finds, but those are totals of the ratings for all the caches I've found or hidden.

I could imagine this being your 'rank' in a list of members sorted by their total scores.

I find it hard to believe that I have the 24th highest score (hides + finds).  Maybe it's a percentile?

This banner is generated by Scout at gpsgames.org using stats he pulls from our database. He would be the best one to contact regarding the actual workings.

With that said I am currently working on an issue Scout is having pulling updated data, so the stats being reported may or may not be accurate at the moment.

Thanks.  I did see yesterday that it seemed to have gone wonky.

The stats are currently inaccurate. Caches before 2005 are not being counted. The problem is understood, but I can't forecast a date when it will be corrected.
