How many people in the southern region use this website?  There are only 2 caches listed in my state (MS) and one of those was just listed this week.

Well, we're up to 12 cache (13 if you count the temporary/moving one) in our state - but still nobody has checked this thread :(

I'm hoping that more geocachers will list their caches here.

It's a shame that only 12 out of almost 400 are listed here.

I have 9 caches within 100 miles of my zip code, vs 256 elsewhere. Still, just three short years ago there were no caches in the state.

Just a hint when searching the database.

One of the fields a user may enter in the submission form is the ZIP Code for the area the cache is in. If they leave it blank, the script will populate it with the correct one. Unfortunately, many will enter THEIR zip code, when the cache is actually in a different zip code and the current script does not replace it.
Now we have two search forms, 'Distance' and 'Detailed'. When using the Detailed form, it will only return matches with exact matches. So if a member entered an incorrect zip code, you may not get a hit when doing the search. But if you use the Distance form, it will return all caches within the zip you enter and for the specified radius from closest to furthest.

Look for this to be smoothed out in upcoming releases.

How about allowing an option to the search form to return results in XML?

This is a possibility, but again will have to wait till other background changes are completed.

Fair enough. But what "other background changes" are in the works? Why not be more public with the work underway? Why not solicit and use the resources of the geocaching community to bring some of these changes to fruition earlier?

This is getting off topic so I have PM'd you regarding this.
Other discussion on these enhancements should continue
