Is there anyone else caching in the UK with Navicache?
Posted by The Forester on April 12 2004,12:46 pmHi,
I'm a newbie to Navicache, but I've bagged a few over at geocaching.com.
I hope that Navicache can be a worthy augmenter of that other place and can be a useful alternative if the other place becomes oppressively commercial and starts (continues?) to close off good cachesites and logreports to people who prefer not to pay money into a commercial outfit for the privilege of placing and chasing geocaches.

Welcome to Navicache. I like it over here as it's the way geocaching used to be. Friendly and no politics. Don't forget to add your caches, we could do with some more to find
Posted by Volvo Man on May 10 2004,4:18 pmHi, I'm here too, Although I admit I don't come here as often as I used to, I've logged all the Navicaches in my local area. Going to place some soon, but that won't give me anymore to find.

I have to remind myself that when I started caching with gc.com there was about 3 caches in the county. The advise I was given was place some and they will come. I need to find the time to place some more.
Posted by GAZ on July 16 2004,5:01 pmI've just registered with Navicache, so I'm ere as well!
Posted by Icenians on Sep. 02 2004,6:54 am
It's starting to get a bit crowded around here
Posted by GAZ on Sep. 02 2004,3:43 pmHi Kev.....it is Kev, isn't it?......I had intended to do Hardknott a couple of weeks ago, but ran out of days off!!! Gonna nab it soon, as the Smileys have a few that way as well.
Posted by Icenians on Sep. 03 2004,10:53 am
Yep it is.
It's about time someone had a go at hardknot.
Posted by FUBAR on July 26 2006,2:40 amAnyone know if there are any caches in Cumbria from this site?
Posted by Scout on July 28 2006,7:39 pm
A view from Hardknot.
Try this search: < http://www.navicache.com/cgi-bin....=-3.181 >.
Or this one from < GPSgames.org >.
Posted by Road Runner on Dec. 02 2006,3:10 pmone more now
Posted by Dark_Star on Jan. 03 2007,11:07 amI just joined to check the site out, but a search for local (near Edinburgh) caches turned up only one cache within 100 miles!!
Back to geocaching.com for me
Posted by Icenians on Jan. 23 2007,6:38 am
Why not set a cache in Edinburgh on here then there will be one for the rest of us
Posted by Morseman on Feb. 13 2007,1:24 pmNot been about for a while, but just logged back on and my Username and Password are still valid. And, I remembered them as well! That's got to be a 1st for me. LOL
Posted by Scout on Feb. 14 2007,8:42 pmWelcome back, Morseman. Don't be a stranger.
Posted by GAZ on July 31 2007,2:34 pmI still log in now and again!
Posted by LordDarcy on Oct. 01 2007,2:09 pmAnd another signed up here ... User Name at GC.com is paulluap
Good to see there are a few of us in the UK
Posted by Gribben on Oct. 27 2007,4:32 amIt`s nice to have some alternative to "the big green one"! Got my first finds here this week - thanks Paul! I`ve just placed four on Dartmoor exclusive to this site & have a few Cornish ones in the pipeline.
Posted by LordDarcy on Oct. 27 2007,4:58 am
And I got my first Navicache just the other day, thanks Gribben. Your other three Dartmoor ones have been noted and are on my todo list.
p.s. now GC.com allow username changes, I'm now "Lord Darcy" on there too.
Posted by Hot5hot on Dec. 28 2007,3:53 amAnd here is another one, I am VERY new to this whole game, looking forward to getting out and about more. I live in suffolk. and hope to place one one as soon as I get the hang of the whole thing.
Posted by Narowboat on Mar. 15 2008,10:14 amWELL yes
I just love to cache!
Posted by AngelPick on July 18 2008,3:00 amHmm, is somewhat quiet, located a cache in Wimbledon Common, not been found for years, is it worth going for?
Posted by Bicycle Repair Man on July 31 2008,1:47 pmSo is it OK to put the same cache on both?
It would be possible to add a sheet inside the cache to this site and ask finders to log their finds on here as well.
This site has not grown very fast at all.
I like the idea of a smaller user base and less caches makes the finds more satisfying, But there are just not enough to make it worthwhile at the moment.

I'm cross-listing some of our caches from GC.COM, but only he better ones We don't cross-list with terracaching.com because they don't want you to.
However, some of the caches on here are really cool and we enjoy finding caches that the masses don't. Their loss is our gain
Posted by The Web Rat on Sep. 22 2008,3:36 amFirst time I have come across this site and I actually prefer to the "alternative", I'm from South Derbyshire and have around 50 active hides.
Hope to get some of them listed over here when I get the time.
Posted by 104daysummervacation on April 21 2010,4:16 pmHI! noone visited for 18 months but I have joined today so thought I would say hello.
Posted by DudleyGrunt on April 21 2010,7:06 pmI'm not in the UK, but there are a few of us who've been active in the general forms, so stop by and check for new posts there or just say hi once in a while.

That's nice of you. Let me return that: Hello.
It is true that not a lot of users seem to use the forums here (at least not a lot write something). But there are surely some who check the forum about daily or so.
Posted by nick_h_nz on June 05 2012,12:45 pmI think there will need to be some work to get an active NC community going in the UK, but so long as the site has potential, there is potential. For a long time now, there has been no particular reason to place NCs in the UK, as the site has been more or less dead. That the only NCs in the UK have been cross-listed has not helped, of course.
However, with new ownership, there will perhaps be new interest. And so long as the site actually sees new, original and unique NCs - rather than the same old cross-listed ones - then there is hope for for NC in the UK. I have some caches in mind that might become NCs, but I wish to give the site a little more time before I give it the benefit of the doubt. There will be a lot more of a battle to make NC a viable alternative here, than for TC or OC:UK and I like to choose my battles....
(With any luck NC will become one of those battles I choose, but there needs to be some drastic signs of improvement first!)
