how about a an option in "edit cache" that lets you either mark the cache as "retired" or "suspended"(meaning that it is temporarliy missing)..  this would show up next to the cache name in search results.. and perhaps in the description as well..

It's already there...go to one of your caches and click "Edit" at the top. You will see the option to retire a cache on the edit page. Don't use it unless you mean it though!  :)
When a cache is "Retired" it places the word 'Retired" at the top of your cache page but still allows people to look at it so they can read past logs.

I think what lighthouserocket was getting at was a temporary halt on having it listed as an active cache.

If you get a notice that there might be a problem with a cache you've placed, but you're out of town or unavailable to check on it, this would give you time to correct without throwing out the cache entirely.

Suspended - that's a good idea!  :grinnin

The cache owner can 'unsuspend' or 'retire' a cache after verification(or replacement) of the cache.
