Posted by DxChallenged on Feb. 24 2002,5:43 pmHey.....So I was net shopping the other day. I tried to find a book on geocaching and to my suprise I discovered that there isn't one. I've been thinking about this for a bit. I've also been thinking about the costs involved in maintaining the site...
What I came up with is this...
Why not have someone compile a book from the log entrys?
You could also use posts from discussion boards on the worst caching exp,,,best caching exp,,,ect.
The book could have a whimsicle feel kinda like the "All Creatures Great and Small" stuff.
Potentially the market would be quite big considering the number of people in this sport now.
The people who wrote the entrys could be notified.
They would def want a book.
It would be great to have a book out so that we could legit. what we do to our friends.
Sales from the book would go back to the site..........
What do ya think?
Posted by Quinn on Feb. 24 2002,6:28 pmYou may not believe this but I have thought along those lines as well, i think it may have been another cacher that planted that into my head some time ago. Very good idea!
I thought it would be nice to offer a Bi monthly magazine type book showing different caching stories from verious different cachers from around the world. This would also include an updated cache list, maybe a story on why they picked that spot to place the cache as well as the logs.
Certain pages could show mapping with places good to stay for a vacation and what-not.
Ok...now you got me going, who's a publisher here??

Who's the publisher......no I'm a speech pathologist.....
Suppose I could help with the language end of it......
I like the magazine idea.....
Posted by dgridley on Feb. 28 2002,2:32 pmActually using something like KeeBoo (free) or a similar program, it'sd be a simple matter to compile something fairly easily.. you can even set something up thru the HP site using their Print On Demand facility. You'd just have to be sure to get all the proper permissions first.
Posted by Road Kill on Feb. 28 2002,9:01 pmI'm ready and looking forward to being on the cover. That is if your target is to attract the female readers.

I don't even know how to respond to that, and wish I woulda thought of it first.

I never realized female critters could read!
Posted by DxChallenged on Mar. 01 2002,5:58 amIt all depends on the language you're using
Ya mean to say I'm the only female reader?

I most likely should have said that better...If you look at "Roadkills" picture and see what he wears on his head you would see what I mean...I really meant "Critters"
