Seems to be the same as the Meridian gold in the options department and memory upgrades, but the color screen sure makes it a whole lot more fun!

But is it really worth twice the cost?
Posted by Quinn on Nov. 21 2002,5:09 pmI'll let you know soon enough. In any event, it's purely eye candy as it does no more than the basic Meridian Gold. The price you pay for color will have to be based on the single user and what he/she feels it is worth.
Posted by skramblr on Nov. 26 2002,8:33 amTwice the cost? It lists for only $100 more than the Platinum's $399 list price. It'll be interesting to see how low the street price will be, once it is released to general distribution.
Posted by Grouchy on Dec. 03 2002,6:29 amI only paid $249 plus a $50 rebate for my Platinum, total paid $200. I did get Topo so the price was around $300.
Posted by ardvarkus on Jan. 06 2003,6:56 pmI just picked one up on Saturday. $389. (Rebate on the plat expired 12/31 I guess...)
What the heck... about an extra $140 for the color.
Added some software, picked up a 128Meg SD card for $44...
PS Color has an external antenna... I thought that would be handy for vehicle use perhaps...
