I have placed the download link for the Text Editing Program here so that it would not get confused with being just for the Meridian family.

Go here for the download < newest version of MyMeridian >

The following were added or changed:

 - Multi-lingual firmware support
 - Map330 support (Map330 owners no longer have to edit the MyMeridian.ini file )
 - updated documentation

If you are using an earlier version of MyMeridian, please delete the MyMeridian.ini file before running the newest version.

This is the same download found in the Navicache forums at
< Info for Magellan Meridian >
If you have any questions about the M330 Program post them here please.

Quinn,
I'm reluctant to try this until I understand whether I'll lose my user waypoints and routes.
I recently upgraded to V3.08, but the unit was relatively new and I only lost a few waypoints when I upgraded.
I've been searching for some sort of "backup/restore" program that I could use for general backup and when I need to trash the data during an upgrade.

ok I will test this for you but I want to be sure what unit I am testing? you mention vesion 3.08 which is Meridian so I am assuming you mean the meridian unit. Version 2.08 is for the 330. Let me know what you have and I'll give it a go.
Also if you have any of the software from mapsend you can save those waypoints to your computer as a backup.

Here is the link to < MyMeridian - Newest Version >

Please delete MyMeridian.ini before running the program.

Please update MagUp.exe to version 1.13 or newer (included with Meridian 3.08 firmware).
Posted by Quinn on Mar. 24 2002,7:39 pm
Yes!  George is correct, you WILL need a newer version of "Magup" if you are a 330 owner and using the version that came with your 2.08 download, the version of Magup with the 2.08 is "Magup 1.07" which will not work.

I just downloaded the Meridians 3.08 version to another folder and after unzipping it i copied the "Magup" from there which is Version 1.13 over to my Magellan 330's folder and had it over write the version 1.07 of magup.

Once I did this everything worked like a charm!

Sorry about the lack of detail.  I have a Meridian Marine that I upgraded to V3.08 "OOTB", as I had noticed from this and other forums that there was an upgrade.

I have yet to purchase MapSend and a SD card, so I'm currently stuck for a way to backup data.

I look forward to your results.

Excellent forum - I'm coming up to speed very quickly. :grinnin

Chris,

I just double tested this on my Meridian Gold and it did not touch any of my waypoints or any other stored info.
As long as you already have version 3.08 installed on your unit you should be fine. It is only going to write the personal.hex

Just follow the instructions step by step that are provided in the help file that comes with it and you will be fine. Now I realize you have the "Marine" unit but I can't see this being any different. I printed out the step by step file so that I could read it as I went. Easy as pie and all is working well.

Quinn,
Good stuff. Thanks for checking that out.  I'll let you know how it goes.

Based on other posts, I was wondering...Are you from the Rochester area?
Posted by Quinn on Mar. 25 2002,1:22 pm
Yes, I am from Rochester, but if for some reason you lose your waypoints i will be moving and you'll have to locate me on your own.  :p

you should be fine!

No, I'm not trying to track you down (yet!).  I'm an old Pittsford boy, with family still there.  Even did my time in the 70's with Kodak.

I noticed your cache photo with the Genny River highlighted.

Ah, Genny Cream - the memories!

I managed to get this modification working last nite. It is without a doubt the most practical thing I have done to a computer or the 330. Many thanks to the author/s.
Now for the question. Now that I have all this neat info in there, is there a way to make it "look pretty"? I have tried using spaces so the text will come up line by line, but, it all crams together anyway. I don't understand this because the spaces in my name stay there. Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi Jerry!

Welcome to the forums.  :wave

I posted a thought in the Magellan Meridian forum.

GEOROCKER,
I must be losing it! I cannot find your "thought" anywhere. When I click on "Magellan GPS" 4 choices come up, one of which says something about Meridian line. But, the last post to it was Dec 27. What am I doing wrong?

Hi guys

I am new this GPS world, I am wondering about this update to my 330...

Does this do anything else to 330 besides changeing the frist window to a personal message? Is there more...

This particular utility simply allows you to change the default Warning Message to something a little more personalized, such as "If found please return to blah, blah, blah"

Hi Forest!  :wave

It only changes the message for the language you select, and nothing more. :)

You can confirm this by performing a byte comparison between the original firmware and the personalized version.

Have fun!

FINALLY! I killed the lawyer page. Thanks for the software. Nothing like time to think things through to get the results you want.

For some reason I can't keep 2.09 in my Map 330 if I load the personal.hex to modify the lawyers screen.  When I fire it back up it reads ver 2.08.

Hi Meadowlark! :wave

There could be a couple of issues.

This series of steps will knock them all out.

I'm starting from the beginning because I don't know your experience level. :)

First, create a new directory called "My330" (or some unique name).

Second, download firmware version 2.09 for the Map330 into the new directory and unzip it.  A copy of it is < here >.

Third, download MyMeridian A05b, available < here >, into the new directory and unzip it.

Fourth, personalize your firmware with MyMeridian A05b.

After saving your personalized firmware, when prompted, answer yes to starting MagUp.

Follow the instructions in MyMeridianReadMe.txt... but when it is time to select the firmware, do not use the default directory selected by MagUp.

Make sure you select the new directory, "My330" (or what ever you decided to name it), and then the personal.hex that is in the new directory for uploading.

This should take care of the problem. :)

Please tell me how it goes.

George

"You da man George!!"  That did it without a hitch and thanks for a clear & concise set of directions.  By the way the entire process stayed in the directory I created, that being M330.

With firmware 4.02 the MyMeridian works, but it somehow screws upthe text message screen "Press enter to power down ......" if you have choosen "on/off protection" for the Power key. Otherwise it seems to do no harm.

Hi All MAP 330 :love here!  Just registered on these forums.  Nice to see a Magellan group here.

I'm posting to ask if one must upload new firmware to get the personalization to work with MyMeridian.  I read the step-by-step instructions in the post above, but I am still a bit puzzled.

Does MyMeridian work by *uploading new firmware*?  Or is MyMeridian used *only to change the lawyer screen?*

I have recently upgraded my MAP 330 to Version 4.0, and it's working flawlessly.  I want to keep it this way :grinnin .

I have the Version 4.0 upgrade files, so I know everything is kosher with my upgrade stuff.  I just wanted to know if this mod can be done *without loading in the 4.0 firmware again*.

Thanks in advance,
Firefishe

Hi, has anyone tried this on the sportrak map?  I was going to do it, but I had to change that file name, then I guess change it back so magup could find it.  But dang it, I just bought this thing and don't want to fry it so quickly.

Any info or reassurances that I won't screw my firmware up would be greatly appreciated.  thanks

I have received e-mail from Sportrak users who have successfully modified the MyMeridian.ini file for use with their Sportracks. :)

Another good place to check is the yahoo SportTrak egroup. :)

BTW - If you don't feel comfortable modifying ini files, I do plan to update MyMeridian to include native support for the SporTrak, but it may be a few months before I am able to do so (slowly recovering from an accident).

That is fine.  I attempted to modify it on my own, but when I got to the save part for the message, it bombed out on me.  (read crashed the prog)

I'll wait for you to recover from the accident.
