We took it to Colorado with us and kept it in a sock to prevent scratches. Well, on the drive home, we forgot the sock and it was scratched in one spot of the screen. I have heard that there is a way to remove these; does anyone know how?
It figures; the last day and Murphy's law kicked in!

There are several mild abrasive polishes that will work. I've had good luck with "Mother's" plastic polish available from auto parts stores. Rubbing compound also works, but is harsher and can leave a slightly cloudy appearance; Simonize makes a polishing compound that is less abrasive. For more severe scratches, try starting with rubbing compound and follow with milder stuff to remove the haze.
Whatever you use, try to avoid getting it in the cracks and crevices around the screen; you'll never get it out. For working on small scratched areas, cotton swabs often work better than a cloth.
Posted by Road Kill on Aug. 20 2002,11:02 pmI haven't checked into it yet, but I'll ask the question here.
Can the screen be replaced by sending it into the company?
I'm looking through a star type crack and not a mere scratch.
Posted by Quinn on Aug. 21 2002,4:54 amYes...the screen can be replaced. The best thing to do is contact tech support and let them know your intentions and get all the shipping information you will need for sending it. Many times if under warranty they will just keep it and send you back a new one. Much easier for them to replace then fix.
Posted by ChrisD on Aug. 22 2002,1:25 pmHas anyone tried the PDA screen overlays? I know they work fine on my Palm, but the Palm has a glass screen and the Meridian feels like it's plastic. Don't know if that makes a difference.

The overlays have saved the GPSr screen many times.
