Posted by Scout on Feb. 04 2003,10:16 amGames 6, 7, and 8 are history. A new game is forming. If you haven't played in a while, check out the changes. It's still basically a GPS game of capture the (imaginary) flag, but the board game strategy has improved. Signup for the new game is open until Feb 12, with game start scheduled for Feb 19.

Posted by Morseman on Feb. 20 2003,4:29 amOne change I have noticed, after missing a few games, is that I couldn't just go to my local square and claim it, I had to await the progress of my colleagues in gaining squares in my area 1st.
I know this is probably old hat, and has, no doubt, been covered on the MinuteWar discussion group already, but I was dissapointed that I couldn't capture the square nearest my own house.

The game setting you refer to requires that teams capture flags outward from a home base. This is intended to strengthen the defensive capability of teams. You can see where attacks are going to come from.
This is a game setting that can be changed from game to game. If, in a future game, players prefer the old freedom to capture flags anywhere, the game engine can be programmed to allow that.

Game 10 is now forming. Game 10 uses rules that will make it a little more like (virtual) geocaching. There are flags hidden in the world and it's up to the players to find them. It's based on the classic game of Battleship. Anyway, visit the < MinuteWar Home Page > and join the practice game to see how it works.
