I was wondering if anyone knew of any GPS clubs in the Columbia, SC area? It would be nice to meet with other gps'ers and learn a lot more about using the GPS. I was using a used Magellan 2000 XL for geocaching but just bought a new Meridian Platinum which should arrive today or tomorrow. I am sorta intimidated by all the functions that this thing has and would like to learn by more than just a "trial and error" method.

Don't be intimidated by the Meridian Platinum, it is a great unit and very easy to learn and use.

As for clubs in the Columbia S.C area, there is the < South Carolina Geocachers Association >. Their site appears to be still in the startup stages with many of the features still not working and I believe the bulk of that group is out of the Florence area (about 80 miles East). Maybe post a message here in our  South East forum and find a couple other cachers in your area then you can always start your own group/club as well.

Of course until you find some locals you will always find folks more than happy to help with any questions right here in the forums.
