The flood filter is set a bit low - I did a cache search and middle-clicked three of the found caches to open them in new tabs in the background (I do this a lot when surfing), and hit the filter on the second and third: "Too many request from your IP address in a short time period... Please retry 30 seconds from now". Is this really the indended effect?

Because of some abuse we did add flood control to many of the pages several months ago. The 'Please retry 30 seconds from now' message is generic and the time period actually is much lower for most. I will take a look and lower the limit on the pages where possible.

I just tried logging in to "My Navicache". I haven't been logged in for days. I got the dreaded "Too many request from your IP address in a short time period... Please retry 30 seconds from now". Waiting and waiting resulted in no more success. I then went into the forums and clicked on the "Login" link under the "Welcome Guest" header. My login to the forum was accepted. I then went back to "My Navicache" and was presented with the "Log In' prompt again and again was rejected. Something's definitely not working right with the "My Navicache" login.

That's odd as I just logged in through the main site MyNavicache login prior to coming here to the forum and seeing your post and I did not experience any problem.

Could you try again and let me know if it is still happening.
I do not come to the forums daily (though I suppose I should) so best way to report things like this is through the  < Contact Us > form.

I just tried again and got in first try. It usually remembers me and I don't need to log in, but when I do, it's not uncommon to get that dreaded flood control message.

I got the dreaded error again.

"Too many request from your IP address in a short time period...
Please retry 30 seconds from now.
Thank you."

I went to navicache.com, clicked on My Navicache, and was prompted to log in. I haven't been logged in for probably several days. The second time I tried it (twice in a short time period) I got logged in without trouble.

Same here. I go to < http://navicache.com, > click "MyNavicache", click the "Please log in" link, get my username and password auto-filled in by the browser, click the "Log in" button, and get the flood control message (and don't get logged in). Sure, I didn't wait more than one or two seconds between each click, but this is perfectly normal use of the webpage. There has to be a smarter way to do flood control - like just holding a request for a while before processing it, instead of going to that error page.
