Hello All
Looks like this is the first message placed in the Australian section of the forum but I suspect as time goes on this site will become more and more popular.
We look forward to placing our first navicache and chatting globally to other cachers. In the meantime if any other Aussies are out there drop us a line.
:wave

I'm not Australian, but I lived in Melbourne once. And there are some avid Geodashing players from Melbourne, too. Welcome to Navicache.

I'm also not Australian, but I shacked up in Cairns with a sheila for a month while diving on the Great Barrier Reef and sucking down stubbies of XXXX (it's a beer, you pervs)  :wave

Be prepared to spread the word. By my count, yours is only the third geocache in all of Australia to be listed with Navicache. I'd like to see that change.

If this is the 3rd navicache where are the others. We have hunted here, there ,and everywhere but we haven't come up with one. Can you give us any information as to their whereabouts? Who placed them and how long ago?
We would love to find them.
Hope you can help.

Go to < this page > and then use the 'Detailed Search' (bottom form). Choose Australia from the 'Country' drop-down list and click the search button.

The search page is the place to go, as already suggested. You can also get a quick summary of hides and finds on the < stats page >.

Thanks PCMedic and Scout. Then the Silver Spoons have placed the first Navicache in New South Wales. I can handle that. The others are about as far away as you can get. We are on the east coast and the 2 others are on the west coast. I don't think we will be finding those in a hurry.

Ok, just to let ya know there's a new player in town (well, in SA anyway) ... me (Team Stargazer) :wave

I've been caching for a while now on the "other site" and plan to copy my placed caches on this site also for future finders. :grinnin

Thanks Stargazer for joining up! Maybe you can let the rest of the Roo's know we are here?
Always nice to see a new face.:)

Is their a way to automatically copy all you caches from the ‘other site’.

The ELTHAM Mob is now also over here looking at things; are people happy with the dual listing scenario?  If so I will dual list my caches.

cheers Darren :)

Mix...there is no way to have your cache listings automaticly transferred over here other than to copy/paste at the moment. But you are by all means (any of you for that matter) more than welcome to also list your caches here.  :)

I have now listed 3 caches for Victoria; will be more soon.
(It is funny to see the 4th nearest Victorian cache as a South Australian cache, you'd want to check the distance before you set off for that drive!)

cheers Darren :)

Well welcome aboard Darren!   :)

Just wondering, in light of the previous discussion (very old too) about why you would want to duplicate cache listings here? The www.geocaching.com.au site duplicates them automatically, but it is for read only, and if you want to log them, you just go to the 'other' site.
By all means have a a forum/discussion board though! :-)

There are many reasons this site was started (before the geocaching.com.au site by the way) all of which have been covered many times in other threads.

As you stated the Australian site does no more than 'automatically' GC's database and as 'read only'. This is because it is no more than a local affiliate of GC. We are not. We are a separate non-commercial (free) site with an open-caching format. This means that folks do not have to worry about one site having total control over a central database. We accept all cache types, some of the other sites do not. We do not charge a fee for any member to access certain caches.

Beyond those points please refer to the many threads already covering this issue so that we may keep this thread on topic.
