I'll be moving to Iowa for grad school within the next month or two.  I'll do my best to spread the Navicache word, hopefully there's some nice hiking, backpacking, kayaking, and caching close to the university of Iowa (Iowa City or even Cedar rapids).

If anyone has any knowledge of the place I'd love to hear from you.  I'm hoping it's not as flat and filled with cornfields as I fear it is.

Hey, Mike. Maybe I'll hook up with you in Iowa for a few caches. My little brother is Associate Director of the Art Gallery at Grinnell College. That's about 50 miles or so down the road from where your new digs will probably be. When dates are set for my visit there, I'll make sure I check with you. And from what he's told me, they sure do have cornfields. :grinnin

:)  Oh no, another person will know about navicache!! the world must be coming to an end or something  :grinnin

I actually think Cedar Rapids and Waterloo farther north have more caches than Iowa City, but there are a few. And yes there are a few places to go hiking etc. Just so long as your not wanting white water or mountains :D
Corn, whats that??

ps. do you like chim or chmi :thumbs-up ?

Well it's happened, another cacher in Iowa knows about navicache.  I have to admit it's (at least the Iowa city area) is alot nicer then I was expecting, there's actually some rolling hills and plenty of places to go kayaking.  Still haven't found much in the way of hiking and still haven't done any caches yet but my times been filled.  It's pretty accepted around here by students and faculty that you need to put in 75-80 hours a week to be successful and that doesn't count the Teaching that I'm doing.  But hey I'm sure I'll get it all together sooner or later.  And once I tire of exploring and kayaking I'll have to start caching again.

ps Welch, I'm actually going by chmi now, but either's fine.

Flat, cornfields, and soybeans, eh!

I am from Nebraska..we have the same problem...except we have the other major problem. The only thing people know about NE is that darn Handball Team! (Football requires the use of your feet!  NOT your hands!)
