I notice that when I use the Detailed Search option, I get retired caches in my results.  If I use the Search by Distance option, I do not.

My request would be to either not list retired caches in search results or to be able to select an option to see them or not.  Generally, I don't think I'd really need to see them.

In the 'Detailed Search' results a retired cache displays in the list with a strike-through to indicate that it is retired. This way someone searching for new caches would waste their time viewing that listing to determine if they may want to search for the cache.

On the other hand we often get new members that may have previously logged caches that are now retired on other sites . If we simply did not return the results for retired caches in any of the search functions, what method they use to search for and find listings to these cacahes so that they may also log their past finds here?

I agree that an option would be nice, but the possibility to search also for retired caches should remain. I used this too to log old finds, and I even used it to log a present find - for a cache which is retired here but still active on another site.

If we could simply choose whether or not to display retired caches, that would be good.

Also, if we could search by cache type, that would be very helpful.
