|If you login FIRST from the main site, then you will be logged into the forums as well. This as you have noticed is a one way street though and logging into the forums does NOT log you in to your MyNavicache account.|
You misunderstood me - though that is my fault, for not being clear. Here is what I was meaning by long route and short route:
Head to Navicache homepage, where the following text is displayed:
and click on the Forums link.
|"Geocaching, the high-tech GPS treasure hunt game [...SNIP...] Submit your own cache listing so that others may accept your challenge! Be sure to also visit our Forums and chat area where you can ask your own questions or just relax and discuss your geocaching adventures with other members.|
Head to Navicache homepage. Move mouse over Navicache button so menu pops up on side. Move mouse down to Forums button.
It may not seem a particularly longer route, but it is faster and easier to click on a link, than move a moouse around to make a menu appear, then move the mouse down that menu. In my experiments, I found that after changing the default login time, if I entered the forum via the long route I would indeed be logged in. However, if I entered the forum via the short route, I would be required to log in to post anything. Strangely, to me anyway, if I returned to the homepage and entered the forum via the long route, I would be logged in - meaning I was somehow simultaneously logged in and out of the forum, depending on how I reached it. Weird, or what?
In the end, it doesn't really matter, as coming to the forum today, I found it didn't matter which way I entered the forum - I was logged out. I am still logged in to the main site, but I had to log in again to the forum (and through the forum, since the only way I could use the universal login would be to log out of the main site, then log back in again).
So, while logging in on the main site is universal, it would appear that the login time which you can choose on your profile on the main site is not so universal. Is there a way of increasing login time on the forum?
