It was a beautiful, early spring day on Saturday and I took a road trip out out to Western Maryland to work on the 2012 Cache Across Maryland series (GC.com thru the Maryland Geocaching Society) and identified one Navicache and one GPSgames cache that I could add to my trip.
Both were in the Deep Creek Lake area. First, I came to "ToTo's Teasure" by snazer (GE00A4). I wasn't too confident I'd find it, since it was last found and logged in May 2007, but since it seemed to only be about a 1/4 mile walk, I figured I'd give it a shot. I was surprised to find it quickly and that there were many more signatures in the log than I'd expected. It had only been logged the one time on GPSgames. Apparently, it had originally been listed on Groundspeak, before being archived there. Also a surprise, the cache was in excellent shape, after nearly 5 years!
About 8 miles south was "Indian Tulip Trail" by salamander (N01A0E). It hadn't been logged on Navicache since 2007. However, it is crosslisted on Groundspeak and has been active there. Took the 3/4 mile hike out to the cache and made the find after searching for a few minutes.
Even if it is crosslisted, I always like to be able to claim a physical Navicache (or GPSgames) cache to my outings.
