On a recent weekend trip, I thought I'd discovered a number of non-crosslisted traditional Navicaches, some of which had not been logged as found.  I figured I might be ringing up some FTF's.

It turned out that they were crosslisted, but had been listed here by someone other then the actual cache owner (with permission, however).

What do folks think of this?  This person was, I assume, looking at raising awareness of Navicaching, but I'm not sure this was a good idea since she did not have direct control of the caches.

And as a lesser issue, it makes it harder for me in my quest to get orphaned, formerly crosslisted caches archived since you can't tell that they are crosslisted from information on the cache page.  If the cache owner archives the cache and this Navicacher has left the game, it will be harder to get rid of them in a timely manner.

(I consider the cache owner, the one that owns and controls the physical container.)

This practice (as you describe it) would be a definite no-no and caches found to be listed this way will be archived unless the 'actual cache owner' were registered and transferred to them.

There are two scenarios that I am aware of and have approved cache listings.
One case is where the cache is listed on another service by a caching 'team'. While the actual team was not registered here one of its members was and asked permission to list some of their caches as an individual. I allow this as they have access to and can make changes to the cache if needed.

The other (and there are several instances of this, is where the cache owner is registered on other services, but to avoid conflict with members on those services requested permission to register and list their caches here under a pseudonym (pen-name). The stipulation to this was that the cache name had to be the same as kisted on any other sites, I of course verified they were the cache owner (or co-owner) as well.
