CACHE LOGS - May contain hints(spoilers)!   decode

I found it! 29 Sept 2007    The Season Series: WINTER  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 2 )

I think this is the first cache we've seen that didn't claim to be the last cache in Losson Park :D We had fun on this one... Miatabug and I found the first leg when we were here last week and we finished it up in style today by managing - for the most part - to find the easy way in (and out) to the final.

I swapped out the $1 for a Where's George dollar and also left a glow stick. I don't remember seeing a coin or a Jeep in the container :(

I found it! 21 Sept 2007    Under the Sea... Version 2.0  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

Out with Miatabug for a fun night of caching. I had found the original Under the Sea cache at the beginning of my caching career. I had looked for it in the middle of winter, and when I got stuck, I remember Mr. HuckleBuckle being kind enough to help a newbie out. We didn't need any help this time :D And it sure looks a lot different without three feet of snow on the ground :P

Took nothing,
Left digndirt's South Carolina Micro Geocoin (even tho' this wasn't a micro cache... coins are cool anywhere!)

I found it! 17 Aug 2007    Pond Overlook  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 2 )

Miatabug and I got this one after we ran out of daylight at Como Park. I have to say that the pond overlook was really an unexpected pleasant surprise :) All park and grabs should be this nice - TFTC!

I found it! 13 Aug 2007    Get that thing out of the house AKA a Avian Cache  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 3 )

So being a glutton for punishment today, and having at least another half-pint or so of blood left in our veins, Miatabug and I said "What the heck! Let's go back to Nature View and give the mosquitoes on *this* side of the park some fresh people to feast upon...". So we did :)

I can understand why Mrs. Urkel would want this container out the basement... I would too :) But it is definitely perfectly suited for a cache. Despite learning what it feels like to be consumed while still alive, we still had a lot of fun looking for the cache. We saw a ton of really cool birds and some plants we've never seen before.

Took nothing, left California coin and a volunteer coin

Thanks again for the fun!

Note 14 Jun 2007    NCMPF  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

So I took a ride down to check things out, and Rayman is right - the information board is definitely in dire need of some TLC. When I was there, there were eight people enjoying themselves with the activity for which this place is for... it was a lot of fun to watch :)

The good news is that all the questions can still be answered. If you get stuck, check the clue!

It was nice to have someone log this cache - it's been almost a year since mickemt visited... thanks Rayman :)

I found it! 04 May 2007    RAPID ART  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2.5 )

This was the first cache of the day out caching with Team Miatabug. Considering that this has been planned for quite a while, we couldn't have asked for a better day - it was the most perfect day for caching in the gorge

As Miatabug mentioned, we did take a wrong turn, but it was still fun and I am kind of glad we did...

Took Chief's Ten Pin TB and beanie bear, left USA coin

  cameraWrong way!

I found it! 04 May 2007    RAW POWER!  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 4 )

I enjoyed a really fun day caching in the gorge with Team Miatabug - and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day :)

Once we finally reached the cache area, Ladybug spotted the container quickly. I've hiked down to the Whirlpool a few times before, but this is the first time I've gone past that point. Thanks for bringing me down here!

Left Jeremy's Wisconsin Geocoin #1, Took nothing

I found it! 03 May 2007    Wilson - Tuscarora State Park NC#1  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Today was an absolutely beautiful day for caching. I enjoyed walking around this park with Ladybug. I'm definitely going to have to come back here soon!

I accidentally deleted my notes, so I may or may not have left something in the cache, but I know I didn't take anything...

I found it! 03 May 2007    Wilson - Tuscarora State Park NC#2  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

This is a really nice park - I've never been here before. Lady bug and I encountered lots of critters out and about. What surprised me most was the number of snakes out. It was a nice day out, but I didn't think that it *that* warm for reptiles to be moving around! Lady bug was first to grab the container...

I accidentally deleted my notes, so I may or may not have left something in the cache, but I know I didn't take anything...

I found it! 03 May 2007    Wilson - Tuscarora State Park NC#3  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2 )

This was the most exciting cache in the park for me today... on the way to the container, I saw my very first pileated woodpecker! That just absolutely made my day The other highlight was the field of trilliums. I had never seen them growing so densely before - they were really pretty.

The cache was damp inside - it looked like the info note was taped on the inside seal, which may be the cause...

  cameraLots of trilliums!

I found it! 09 Mar 2007    Eternal Flame Falls  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 3 )

This is one of my most favorite places in the world. Didn't even need the GPS for this one - I've been visiting here for a long time before it became so well-known... and I have seen a lot of changes since traffic has become so prolific Still, it is a wonderful place to share and beautiful any time of year!

Today the Eternal Flame wasn't so eternal, but the frozen falls are a treat, too. You can definitely tell the difference when the flame isn't burning - the smell of the methane is way more pronounced... I'd almost be afraid to light a match

It was a perfect day for a hike down here - TFTC!

I found it! 08 Mar 2007    A View To Nature  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

Miatabug and I made a special trip out here tonight, because I had a coin I wanted to swap for the coin listed on the cache page... The FGA coin is *not* in the cache :(

Aside from that, it was a nice hike to the cache. It was one of those caching nights I didn't have my camera with me and I sure wish I did... I missed out on some really good photo ops :(

I found it! 25 Jan 2007    Lockport After Dark  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 4 )

I can't express enough how much I've come to love night caches. This one was a total blast on a moonlit winter's night... The 'river' and woods covered with a beautiful, fresh blanket of snow... Great company... Who could ask for more?

This was also part rescue mission for the TBs that have been stranded here a while. I picked up Bug Eyes, but Stitch was nowhere to be found in the container I left a glowstick, just in case the next people who visit this cache need it :)

The TBs and coin I dropped are not in the cache - they were passed to Miatabug.

Thanks so much for all the work you put into this really fun cache!

I found it! 08 Nov 2006    Milestone Multi  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2.5 )

I had a lot of fun with this one... this was my first night cache that really wasn't a night cache

I thought Miatabug was nuts when he said he wanted to go looking for this cache in the pitch dark, but being a little crazy myself, I said OK. I had a great time! The night was perfect for wandering around woods, and it wasn't too wet or mucky as I had expecting it to be. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if I had snagged the final first Methinks I won't be turning down the chance to hunt caches at night anymore!

I couldn 08 Nov 2006    Natures Bonus  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2.5 )

We spent quite a bit of time looking for this one, with no avail. I guess the bonus wasn't meant to be... I'm going with the theory that we would have found it had it been daytime I'm sure we'll be back to give it another go!

Note 29 Sept 2006    A DEVIL OF A HIKE  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3.5 )

It was a beautiful fall day for a hike... No complaints getting in and out of the gorge, but getting to the cache was a bit of a challenge :) I would love to hear the story of how you 'stumbled' across this spot! I had a lot of fun with this one - thanks!

  cameraWatch out for falling rocks!

I couldn 29 Sept 2006    THE OTHER SISTER  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2 )

No luck with this one today. After looking at past logs when I got home, I can see that I was in the right place, I just couldn't see it... Bummer too, I had a coin I wanted to swap :( I'll still try again the next time I'm in the area - it really is a great spot!

I found it! 24 Sept 2006    Centralia, The Burning Town  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 2 )

I've been fascinated by this place ever since I heard about it. I was finally able to make the trip down here to see it first hand. It really is a sad story. I wasn't able to find the fire department or any warning signs, although I did a lot of driving around the area. I guess I wasn't driving in the right places :( I did find the Centralia bench at the given coords and the Municiple building. It would be interesting to come back in a hundred years or so, and see what changes occur.

  cameraGryffindor1 was here!
  cameraMuniciple Building

I found it! 24 Aug 2006    Pendleton's Island, that isn't one, in Amherst  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

I had time for a cache today, so this one was it. It was a nice walk along the water... not too much muggle-traffic around. It was nice. There were a bunch of mosquitoes, but they weren't really biting. The best part about this cache is that snacks are offered along the way!

Left a California coin and the Measure Up! TB, TN

I found it! 09 Aug 2006    Steve's Cache  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

Out with Miatabug today... Lots of bushwacking on this one, but stayed nice and dry. The really odd thing was that there were *tons* of skeeters out, but none were biting - so aside from the annoying buzzing around the ears, it was pretty nice :)

The pen in the cache wasn't working, so we swapped it out with one that works (courtesy of Miatabug). I grabbed the Homer TB who has been here for a while and also took the Measure Up TB. I left an eraser for Big Mistakes.

I hope Steve is OK. TFTC!

I found it! 09 Aug 2006    7th Inning...  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

For a micro, I really enjoyed this one - it was something different :) I spotted it pretty quickly and didn't have too much trouble getting it...

I found it! 06 Jul 2006    In Honor Of Urkel  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1 )

I'm late posting here...

I couldn't pass by a cache dedicated to Mr. Urkel - the guy who soooo patiently answered about a million of my questions when I was looking for a bit of help... Thank you so much again Mr. Urkel!

As for the cache, I couldn't believe my eyes as to how it was hidden!!! I am really amazed that it's still there - I actually laughed when I saw it :)

I'm sorry to say that I can't can't even do the Chicken Dance, much less anything as complex as the Urkel dance. We'll just pretend that I did and save myself a lot of embarrassment...

Note 04 Jul 2006    Nature View Park #5 AKA These pretzels are making me thirsty!  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 3.5 )

OK, when I found this cache ages ago, the cache name didn't really mean much to me. Today I was visiting the folks for the holiday and they had Seinfeld on TV. I wasn't paying much attention until I heard those magic words and my ears perked right up... I get it now - *very* funny :P (Obviously I don't watch much Seinfeld!)

I found it! 25 May 2006    McNaughton Field  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1 )

This one had been on my To-Do list forever... I finally got around to it today. I've seen pictures of these containers, but the pictures sure don't do them justice - Wow! Made me wish I had chosen a shorter user name :P Coordinates were right on the money. TFTC!

I found it! 20 Apr 2006    Geez Louise!  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4 )

I finally got my computer back - albeit with most of my stuff gone. It's good to be back and (mostly) running. Now to catch up on old business...

Geez Louise! This was fun!

This cache has been on my To-Do list pretty much from the time I had learned about Geocaching... I finally had it on my calendar to conquer last week and I really tried hard not to let the fire to the Geo-truck stop me, but after spending most of my day off sitting in the repair shop, I just didn't have the time. This week my computer crapped out on me - but I wasn't going to let *that* stop me! I had the waypoint already downloaded in my GPS

Leg 1 was no problem at all.

Leg 2 was just pure evil. Once I was in the general area, no matter what direction I walked, my GPS told me I was going in the wrong direction. After losing satellite reception twice, I just gave up using technology and did a systematic search of every possible hiding place for the container. And there sure are a *lot* of great hiding places around here! The leaves aren't even on the trees yet - how can anyone even try this in the summer????!! Let me interject here that I am most grateful the to the Swampmaster Urkel that he did not use a micro for this leg I was most proud of myself when I (finally!) found the container It was definitely swampy here, and I enjoyed every minute of it - it was just an absolutely gorgeous day for a walk through muck.

Leg 3 was not hard to find, and it was pretty dry in this area. The final coords were off by about a 100 feet on my GPS, which means nothing, but after leg 2, that seemed like GZ!

I took the Grip Clip and left a pack of Mountain Dew playing cards. I wish I had brought something else with me to trade - there are two other packs of playing cards already in the cache. I guess I just added to the variety

After getting back to the parking lot, I couldn't resist a walk on the boardwalk. I've driven by this park/swamp about a million times, but this was my first time visiting. It's a really nice area.

I took a bunch of pictures, of which I will post some here once I (hopefully) get my own computer back. And I would like to thank my good friend Pat for allowing me the use of her computer so I can log this find!

Note 18 Apr 2006    A Little Bit Further - FTF cache-n-bug  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

Okey dokey, I stopped by the site where I hid the cache, and it seems that the coordinates *are* off by about 20 feet. (Why, I don't know - I took about 7 or 8 readings the first time!) I was bouncing around a bit, but these coordinates should be more zeroed on the exact location:

N43 00.717 / W070 47.454

Maybe Madmann can fix the coordinates at the top of the page?
I hope this is better, and sorry about that.

But to anyone who goes looking: Use the clue!

That being taken care of, I have to say that while I was standing around waiting for my GPS to settle down, I saw the biggest bunch of fish in the water... they had to be two feet if they were an inch! I'm assuming that they were only carp, but they sure were fun to watch :)

Note 17 Apr 2006    A Little Bit Further - FTF cache-n-bug  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

I'll stop by after work tomorrow and check the coordinates again... But if you were in the general area, the clue should have made it a very easy find!

I found it! 11 Apr 2006    A Little Bit Further - FTF cache-n-bug  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

OK, so I heard that there was a moving cache around, and despite my search efforts, I wasn't able to find the listing for it. So yesterday, after doing one of Madmann's caches, I was checking this site to see if the cache was listed here, too. Lo and behold, guess what I found? :)

Well, evidently, the map does not update with new coordinates. Looking at the map, I thought that I would be looking for the cache just around the corner from work. Wrong! I ended up taking a lot longer drive than I had anticipated. My poor dog was waiting at the door with her legs crossed when I got home :P

So anyway, I found the cache. A bit tricky finding access to the area, but I figured it out. Pretty cool area! The cache was about 30 feet from a couple of (strange) guys fishing. I am very glad that the container was so that I could easily grab it. On the other hand, I can't believe that with all the traffic in the area, that no one passing by didn't just pick it up!

The container was wet inside and the (very cute!) logbook is pretty damp. When it is all dried up, I will be placing the cache in a new location.

Might I suggest to future cachers of this cache to maybe state at least which town the cache is in? That way everyone will have some idea of how far they may have to drive. That is, if the map still doesn't change. (I will *not* be putting the cache off of Pfohl Road!)

Thanks Madmann for something fun and different!

I found it! 29 Mar 2006    Over The River, And Through The Woods...  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

It's crazy the amount of people that are wandering along the creek in the middle of the afternoon... doesn't anyone work? :) After dodging people and their dogs, the cache was an easy find. I can say that this is the first time I've ever seen a *30 mm* ammo box... it's so cute!

A belated Happy Anniversary, too!

I found it! 29 Mar 2006    That Wacky Palindrome Cache  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

I found this one on a field trip to the area... really nice hide! I liked the fact that even with all the traffic around, I could sit and read the other logs and no one could see me there :)

So you hid a cache, huh? "Too bad, I hid a boot"

The one I had in reserve, in case the going was rough: "dumb mud"

I couldn 29 Mar 2006    The Blue Bridge Micro  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1.5 )

No luck with this one. My GPS told me I was standing right by it, but couldn't spot it - even the clue didn't help me. "Dammit, I'm mad!" - Oh wait, wrong cache :P

Even without the find, the view was really nice on such a beautiful day. I'll give it another shot next time I'm in the neighborhood.

Coming from the area's Prince of Puzzle Caches, I'm blushing!

Note 21 Mar 2006    Confundus  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

Congrats once again to CC for FTF! Navicache watchers *really* had the advantage on this one... it's still waiting for approval on the other site, even tho' this was submitted to both sites at the same time!

Bummer that the Confundus Charm worked *too* well - now I don't get the director's version of log :( I would have *loved* to hear about the bushwacking from where I imagined you parked <hee hee!>

Thanks for visiting another of my caches :)

I found it! 16 Mar 2006    The Oops! Cache (In more ways than one) - Navicache Only  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 4 )

Wow - I actually got a STF! Never thought *that* would ever happen :) Being such a crazy week for me, I wasn't planning on being able to fit any Geocaching in, however... after seeing this listing last night, and it being so close to my cache, I gladly rearranged my schedule today to look for this one :P

This is a really great spot. I wish I had found it first :) I do have to say that it wasn't anywhere near as hard to get as I had imagined... I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing! But then again, I attacked from the top, as suggested. I can't even imagine trying to access the cache from below - yikes!

I am now (finally) the proud owner of a famous Urkel carabiner. I left a Mountain Dew and a Pepsi key chain. Thanks for the fun distraction in an otherwise un-fun week!

Edit - Trying to get my pictures in!

I found it! 15 Feb 2006    Cache Catharsis  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1.5 )

Well I am very happy to find out that I am not as lame as this cache is! This cache is so lame that I saw the container as I was driving up the road. If I had been so bold as to drive on the wrong side of the street, I could have rolled down my window and grabbed the cache without so much as having my feet touch the asphalt! But being proud of the fact that I am *not* as lame as this cache, I kept my truck on the proper side of the road and exited the vehicle to grab the container. I wanted to burn at least 3 calories logging this cache :D

(Thanks For The Lame Cache!)

I couldn 10 Feb 2006    Cache Catharsis  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1.5 )

I found it! 20 Jan 2006    Perry Bluff Ore Storage Cache  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 3 )

Visiting from Buffalo and enjoying this area. This would make an excellent snowshoe cache! Very quiet area... didn't hear a peep out of any wildlife at all. Found the cache pretty easily. Afterwards checked out the state line marker (kind of hard to read!)and stopped by the overlook park. Really pretty views :)

I found it! 12 Jan 2006    The Season Series:AUTUMN  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

The walk was a little wet, but not too bad. Nice container :) Everything inside was nice and dry. I picked up the GreenScarf TB...

I found it! 11 Jan 2006    Cache Calls Only  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

There aren't many of these around any more. They used to be *all* over the place. Has anyone ever actually seen one of these being removed? :P

Found this one pretty easily... TFTC!

I found it! 10 Jan 2006    Canalway Trail Micro  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

This was a fun multi... I have to say tho', if the sun wasn't shining, I would have missed the first leg! No problem finding the final (I cheated and drove to the second parking lot ~hehe~ ). I did my geo-duty and picked up some trash before I left... TFTC!

BTW - Has anybody noticed the giant cement-mixer chicken in front of the house on North Canal? (I mean, how could you miss it?!!). It's not really a cement-mixer, but the body looks like one. It reminded me a *lot* of the Trojan Bunny Rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It was on a platform with wheels and everything :D

I found it! 08 Dec 2005    Under The Sea...  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

My second try at this one... much easier with less snow (and a little hint from HB!) The container was frozen in it's hiding spot. When I finally wrenched it free, part of it's surroundings were still attached - when I replaced the cache, I turned it around to take advantage of the additional "camouflage" :P This was a fun multi. Even if I *did* have to try twice :(

I found it! 08 Dec 2005    Now Playing At a Cache Near You...  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Number 50 for me - wahoo! Caches like this make me laugh - before I knew about Geocaching, I would walk *right* by these and never knew they were there :P

I found it! 08 Dec 2005    I'm Not Puzzled....  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

This was a fun cache to do... I found the container, but it took a little bit - I think the cold was starting to affect my GPS, 'cuz it was just bouncing all over the place! One minute I was within ten feet of the hide and after one step I was eighty feet away - go figure :) Great hide, tho'. I had an audience laughing at me the whole time I was looking... something like that can be a little disoncerting!

I found it! 04 Dec 2005    Onondaga Escarpment #2; Glen Falls Virtual  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Stopped by this one on my way home from work today... what a nice refresher course from my geology classes at UB. Fun stuff! I loved those classes - those were the days ... ~sigh~
Lots of people around visiting the park, despite the construction - but it *is* a beautiful, snowy day :)

I found it! 30 Nov 2005    Spawn of Multiplicity # 5  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 2 )

A wonderful day for a hike... found the cache with no problem. I found the cache in it's hiding place upside-down, and it had a lot of water inside. I emptied out the water and cleared the Urkle-flage from the lid threads and put it back right-side up. Hopefully the water will stay out now. Everything inside was OK. The stuff inside the ziplock bags was dry and the items not in bags were such that the water wouldn't effect them anyway. This was a really nice hide. I wished I had waited for snow and done this hunt with snowshoes - it would have been perfect!

I found it! 29 Nov 2005    Sweatin' Micro  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1.5 )

I had to get to this one before it gets muggled again! I signed the log at 3:30 am this morning on my way to work... it was kind of neat being the first one to sign a new log. Methinks tho', that will be closest I will ever get to feeling like a FTF :P TFTC!

I found it! 28 Nov 2005    Herd About Buffalo  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

The one I have is the Stovroff Realty "Oh Give Me a Home..." buffalo. The waypoint I got was N 43'01.385 W 078'42.111

It is on the Unidentified Buffaloes list - this one is now identified!

I found it! 04 Nov 2005    Pilecki Pond AKA Willow Ridge part deux  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Got back to this one after getting the coordinate situation straightened out...it's amazing how a couple little wrong numbers can mess up a destination! <hee hee!>

Leg 1 was my favorite part - I hadn't seen coordinates done that way before... they blended in so perfectly :) Great container in Leg 3- what a clever idea. And it's true - you *can* see the cache from the 990 if you know what you're looking for!

I found it! 31 Oct 2005    Hot Wheels  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2 )

This was the first hunt where I actually had to come back because of muggles. I thought it was really weird that there was a car parked on the trail about 10 yards from the cache coordinates, but I went looking anyway. Of course when I was *right* there - right about the get the cache, two engineer-looking construction guys showed up and planted themselves by the car looking at blueprints or something <sigh>.

I went looking for the other cache I had scheduled myself for the day and came back. Thankfully, they were gone! Great hide - there were so many good places that could have been used...

I couldn 31 Oct 2005    Pilecki Pond AKA Willow Ridge part deux  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

I couldn't finish this one... I found part one and part two, but I had a hard time reading the coordinates from part two to get to the end. I tried plugging in numbers that looked close, but they all kept putting me in the middle of the lake :(

I'll be baaaaack!

I found it! 28 Oct 2005    Nature View Park #5 AKA These pretzels are making me thirsty!  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 3.5 )

This was a fun hunt. I've been to the part of the park on Tonawanda Creek, but I never knew that all *this* was around! With the exception of a couple of potholes made by the ATV's, the hike was pretty un-muddy. Saw a few deer, which is no big deal, except that one had antlers. I never seem to see the deer with antlers :)

I walked past the first leg at least five times before I saw it (duh!) and found the second part pretty easily. The cache was pretty exposed. I made sure I covered it well before I left. I took two buttons and the 'Where's George' dollar and left two new 'Where's George' dollars.

And thanks for the reminder to waypoint the car. I *always* forget to do that...

I found it! 28 Oct 2005    Woodchip Trail Cache  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

I found this one pretty quick... Either that means I'm getting better at this or this one was *really* easy :) Even after all the rain we've had, it wasn't muddy at all...

I found it! 27 Oct 2005    Tillman Road No. 3 (Navicache only hide!!)  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

I've been waiting for the rain to stop to hunt for this one... and I had expected it to be really muddy, too - but it wasn't at all :)

I haven't been here in years, and it was nice to have an excuse to come out again. I really must remember to bring my camera with me on my hunts. Tons of birds around - I counted about a dozen different species. I wish I had brought some seeds for the chickadees - they looked like they were expecting a handout...

A pretty easy find and lots of neat stuff in the cache, even tho' I didn't trade. The flip-top on the container was opened, but the zip-lock baggie inside kept everything nice and dry.

I found it! 19 Oct 2005    Glen Falls Aquaview  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

This was my second find of the day... and I wasn't even out here for this cache! I originally was in the area for the Amherst State Park Cache, when I noticed on my GPS how close this one was. I am very proud of myself - this is the first cache I found without having the website printout (and hints!) with me... my first 'blind' find!

Talked to a guy walking his dog about geocaching. He said that he once found a "loose" cache in Ellicott Creek Park and after reading the instructions inside the container, returned it back to where it belonged... what a nice guy!

Took some trash out with me.

Great hide... TNLNSL TFTC!

I found it! 19 Oct 2005    Amherst State Park Cache  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

My first hat trick! (Why do they call three-times of anything a hat trick, anyway?). My third find of the day, this was also the hardest find I've come across yet. It took *forever* to find. I guess my idea of a 'large cover' is different than Mr. Urkel's - I was thinking/looking for LARGE! :P

I've been to this park many times before when my dog was younger and her legs could handle nice long walks... I've also been here when the convent was open for a church function - it was always enjoyable to come here. The pine forest was always my favorite place to go - it's like being in another world...

Great hide! TNLNSL TFTC :)

Note 16 Oct 2005    Sweatin' Micro  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1.5 )

OK - I took a ride back to this one, and I am totally convinced that it isn't there any more. Is there a way to verify that the cache is really there? I don't want to drive myself crazy looking if the cache is really missing!

I couldn 09 Oct 2005    Sweatin' Micro  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1.5 )

Arrrgghh. OK, I feel really dumb. I thought I was getting the hang of this but I guess not :(

This was supposed to be my first "I'm-going-to-get-this-one-really-quick-in-between-stops-from- work" cache, but it wasn't meant to be... This was the first time that my GPS actually matched exactly where I thought the cache was supposed to be hidden, but obviously I'm not thinking like a Cache Hider yet <sigh> I was sure that this was going to be a really easy one. I guess the fact that I had forgotten my favorite Sharpie (that I like to use to sign the logs with) should have been an omen...

I'm going to have think on this one and try again later this week...

My first miss since starting this game/sport/hobby. Darn. :(

I found it! 07 Oct 2005    Chac's Revenge  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 2 )

I had lots of fun with this one... I learned a new numbering system (which just might come in handy some day!) and had a very enjoyable hunt. I'm not one for hot weather, so today was very pleasant for me - even the constant drizzle was refreshing :) I do have to say that being shorter didn't help on this one... but I found it, and that's all that matters!

I found it! 03 Oct 2005    Amherst's Amazing Talking Toilet  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

This cache was a double bonus for me...

Found the talking toilet with no problem - it was definitely loud! Lots of mosquitoes around and lots of nettles stuck to my socks (of course I had to take the hard way in) :)

On the way back to the car (looking foran easier way), I came across bunches of giant puffballs! It's one thing to read about them in a field guide, but this is the first time I've actually seen them growing in the wild... they are *huge*!

Finding the mushrooms was just as excitingas finding the cache :) I wish I had brought my camera...

I found it! 20 Sept 2005    Rt. 990 Luxury Cache  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1 )

Thanks for the easy cache to help a newbie hone her non-existent GPS skills! I think I'm figuring it out :) TFTC

I found it! 20 Sept 2005    Green Acres  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

Nice and easy to find... the wasp's nest is gone :)

I found it! 18 Sept 2005    Dann Rd.'s 1st cache  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1 )

My very first cache! I tried to pick one easy and close to home... My brother-in-law loaned me his GPS - I had no clue how to use it and the manual wasn't much help, so I figured it out in the 'field'... this is going to be a fun 'sport'!

The only bad thing is that I put the wrong date in the notebook - for some reason, I thought today was the 19th. Sorry :(

Thank you!

I found it! 18 Sept 2005    Dann Rd #2 AKA First Son of Multiplicity  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

My second find ever - Wahoo! This is fun... TFTC!
