I found it! 02 Dec 2007    Sweatin' Again!  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1 )

I would like to thank Mick for reacquainting me with this fine spot. I was out caching with Cayuga Crew in Cheektowaga today, when I forced him to go take me to this hide and find it. I opened my jacket up, and I had hundreds of matchstick containers and film canisters to threaten him with. We arrived in the area and circled it a couple times checking out a suspicious character hanging out near GZ. It turned out to be a newer cacher converted by the famous HikingCockroachess. It was a pleasure to meet him. We got down to business, and the find was soon made. But it was not without incident. Poor ole' Cayuga was wondering if his tetanus shot was up to date, and well.. I'll let him finish the rest of the story. Thanks again Mick for showing me this beautiful area. It was a great afternoon of caching with Sagacious Centaur, aka CC.

I found it! 13 Oct 2007    Letchworth Fall Gathering VI  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Letchworth - one of the best places to cache in NY. What a pleasure it was to return to this majestic park and tackle some of the caches and gather with friends for an afternoon full of fun. This is my favorite annual event, and I was so glad to have the opportunity to be there. Had a lot of fun chatting it up with many cachers, especially those who I hadn't seen since last year. My thanks go out to those that put all their hard work and dedication into this event, as well as those that helped out around the pavilion. I look forward to Letchworth VII. Cache on, everybody!

I found it! 29 Sept 2007    Amherst's Amazing Talking Toilet  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

After almost 3 years of caching, HB has finally found the amazing talking toilet! This was an excellent walk down the Amherst bike path. I last remember being here about two years ago DNF'ing on that pesky BEE cache. No, not that kind of BEE cache. Anyway, I found the cache quickly and admired the years worth of previous entries in the logbook. This cache is an oldie, almost 4 years! The toilet is still loud as ever. Now if only I knew what to do with my talking toilet...

HB

I found it! 22 Sept 2007    1779 Memorial Tree  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

I've always been interested in finding this hide, unfortunately I only get out this way maybe once or twice a year. Today I made it a priority to find it. I got to the park around quarter after eight this morning and made the find quickly. It was cool to see the original log entries and I had fun reading some of them. I TNLNSL, thanks for this "old school" cache and the interesting history lesson. Thanks!

I found it! 10 Aug 2007    Oppenheim Zoo  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

Well Mr.Urkel... after striking out at your first two caches earlier in the day, I had to stop by on finally find this one! I've passed by here many times and have always said "Someday I'll find Urk's cache there!" I'm glad I was able to find it, but with the standard HB twist. Just as I found the cache I noticed a muggle sitting on a golf-cart about 25 feet away. I didn't know if he saw me or not, so I non-chalantly swung out the phone and grabbed the cache and did the ole "cellphone trick" and also walked with the cache back to the car. Eventually, I saw the muggle in the golfcart drive away and I proceeded back to return the cache. After further inspection, I figured he must have been a park groundskeeper because there is a really old garage about 50 feet from the cache. Thanks Urkel for this great cache - and your very first!

I found it! 08 Aug 2007    NYS Thruway Cache-A-Day Series #2 Vers. 3.2  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Last find of a very long day of caching with CheektowagaChick and Dragonflyby. Found this on the way home from Ithaca. Lots of truckers nearby, but we made the grab undetected. Thanks Mick. Hope this one has a longer lifespan than the previous two caches here. TFTC.

I found it! 05 Aug 2007      ( Difficulty:     Terrain:  )

A few days ago, while sitting at dinner I noticed I had received a call from the 585 area code and I began to wonder what was up. Well, it turned out to be P-man calling about my new cache in Marilla (I think it's one of only two caches in Marilla if I'm not mistaken..) During our conversation, P-Man mentioned his two caches out in the Gainesville area, and asked if I had found them. When I replied that I hadn't, I began to do some more research on them and then also realized I had a little milestone coming up and these sounded like the perfect kind of cache to do for such an occasion. So today I made the trek down from West Seneca to Gainesville to find these caches. Now, since I'm a city folk I didn't know what the best route would be to take to access these caches, so I took a nice leisurely drive through the wilds of Wyoming County and went down my roads I had never driven down and went through many towns I had never been to before. Eventually I made it to the arrow described in the cache description and knew this was "the spot!". I grabbed the backpack and headed into the woods. After going through some rough patches of brush and doing some un-necessary bushwhacking, I found the logger's road that some have mentioned and proceeded to take that down towards the cache. Soon after, I encountered the prickers that many have mentioned and have a few @$!^#!'s were exclaimed, I made my way towards GZ. The cache was found quickly and I made sure to spend some time just taking in the beauty of the area. Woohoo! 1300. This is a nice peaceful woods and I enjoyed taking the time to explore it, and I can't wait to come back to find "The Old Earthen Dam".. maybe for 1400? I had an enjoyable time caching in Wyoming County today. Thanks Pman for the adventure! TNLNSL/TFTC.

HB

I found it! 15 Jul 2007    Bullhead Cache  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

These older caches are always the most fun to find. I enjoyed the hike along the lake with friends HC,SB2,GG, and Wmacdonnell. We stopped every once and a while to enjoy the scenic views of the lake or the wildlife we encountered. The cache is loaded with great swag, but I TNLNLSL. Thanks for this amazing cache!

HB

I found it! 25 Mar 2007    Paleoman's Cave, (So easy a caveman can do it!)  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

This was a great cache P-man! I'll have to come down to Castile one of these days to finish up your hides. Anyway, here is my original log:

This was on the "to do" list for today. I've had this cache on my watchlist ever since it came out and knew today was the day to find it.

I arrived at the cave and alerted to the caveman to my presence. After I found the cache, We had a good time chatting it up about geo-related topics and the like. I had a lot of fun today exploring Castile and finding a lot of the Pman's caches. Looks like I missed running into Nature Noggins by about an hour. Oh well.. I'll be back to visit the cave next time I'm in Castile.

Thanks Pman for a memorable cache, and for chattin' it up today! Cache on!

HB

I found it! 25 Mar 2007    The Old White Pine  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 2 )

This was another on my "must do" for today after reading about Yam juice and K-mart underwear from Szuchie's log.

I loved the woods that this cache was located in, the peacefulness and the serene quality to it made for a fun caching experience. Once we arrived at GZ, I made the find quickly. Great work as usual, Pman. Like the history mentioned in the description. Very cool. Thanks again. Cache you in West Seneca sometime!

HB

I found it! 25 Mar 2007    Howl of the Wolf  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2.5 )

I've been looking forward to finding this one since it came out and hearing from Szuchie what a fun find it is, today was the day to go get it!

After visiting the cave, Gadget and I headed over here to do this one and "White Pine". Gadget made sure I found the other stages so I could experience the whole cache. The trip down to the final was the most memorable. The area near the wooden bridge was awesome and I wish I had brought my camera to help me capture some of the beauty so I could remember it. I definitely want to come back sometime to explore the area some more and maybe even wade in the creek.

Once we found the final, Gadget and I inspected the contents and I took the TB's to move along. Thank you Paleoman for all your fun caches today! They all were fun and unique caching adventures! Cache on!

HB

I found it! 25 Mar 2007    Welcome to Castile !  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

This was a great hide. I love the uniqueness of it. Always great to see another in the "Welcome to.." series. Thanks again Pman. This is about the 6th email you've gotten from me by now.

I found it! 11 Feb 2007    Cayuga's No Excuses #2 Lischer Park  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

'Bout time I made it over to this cache.

Great work here, CC. I was talking to Szuchie on AIM this morning when he mentioned something about wanting to cache, I told him "ditto" and so we decided to pick a few in the West Seneca area to go after. This was our first stop.

We arrived at the parking coordinates and looked at what we had to bushwhack through. "Let's do this thing" I said to Szuchie and Chicky. We began to go through the brush and Szuchie noticed the abundance of deer pellets in the snow. We didn't happen to run into any man-eating deer while in the brush, but we did hear a nearby neighbor's dog alerting people to our presence.

When we arrived at GZ, Szuchie eye'd a potential hiding spot and Chicky confirmed his suspicions correct. Excellent hide.
I took the TB from the cache and will move it along soon. Afterwards we hit up a few more caches and then made an Andersons run. Thanks Cayuga for the cache and thanks to Szuchie and Chicky for some Sunday caching fun!

It was getting really cold out by the time we got to this cache. Luckily someone left a nice "poking" stick and eventually I heard the nice sound of plastic. Thanks for the cache, Mick.

I found it! 15 Jan 2007    Cayuga Crew's No Excuses #1 Angel Bridge  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Oops.. forgot to log this one on navicache.

Ah yes, I remember the night that this cache came out well..

I had just settled down to write some essay about Federalism VS. Anti-Federalism when this cache popped up. Out I ran towards this heavenly bridge.

Poked around a while being a dummy and was unsuccessful. Eventually Family Finders and later FLASH's came by and the Finder made the find. ;-) We all shared the FTF cause we're cool like that.

Thanks for the tribute, CC.

HB

I found it! 26 Dec 2006    7th Inning...  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

I had an idea of what kind of hide this would be before arriving. As we pulled up, my suspicions were proven correct, however, the cache was laying on the bottom of the object it was hidden on. I positioned back to a position where people might have to act like its the 7th inning. Thanks for the cache, MickEMT.

HB

I found it! 24 Nov 2006    Fairmount Park  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

***LATE LOG***

So Dragonflyby sent me an email the other day saying "Pick about 5 or so caches within a 20 mile radius from home and we'll go get a few".

This one barely made the 20 miles from home, so off we went this post-Thanksgiving day morning. Coming into Tonawanda, Niagara Falls Blvd slowed us down because of some of the nasty traffic it has because of all the construction going on. Once we got past all of that, it was smooth sailing to the park.

The math to get to the second leg was done quickly. I think some guys playing hockey nearby got a laugh out of me walking up to the graves and writing in a notebook.

I thought those same guys would cause a problem because of how close leg two was to them, but it was found quickly because I've done a cache that was hidden in a similar style.

Leg three was the most time consuming of the bunch. Dragonflyby and myself searched and searched for a long time. We even left someone a voice message asking for help. I was thinking to myself what I was going to write in my DNF log for this cache when I decided to widen my search and was successful. Onto the final, which was found with a quick search. Really liked the container for the final. Also noticed the entry in the logbook from the park workers.

Great job on this cache, Urkel. Definitely everything a multi should have - a great park, walk, and clever hides. Thanks for the cache.

I found it! 14 Oct 2006    Letchworth Fall Gathering V  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Great event as usual. I first logged I was coming on March 1st - wow..that was long ago!

Thanks to GammaKit and Roadkill for all the hard work put into making this happen again. They get better every year. Letchworth is a gem.

See you all at Letchworth VI!

I found it! 14 Oct 2006    Brogan's Topo Lesson  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 3.5 )

Well Mr. Brogan, GG, Gof, and HB got a lesson in topography twice. Gof and I started walking out towards the correct way to the cache only to be stopped and told to head down the other way. Those people got a little teasing from that, naturally.

Had a fun time on the way down to this one with a bunch of cachers from Fredonia and Dove78 as well. The plastic ammocan was found with ease. Awesome views from here, Letchworth is a gem. Thanks for the cache ABBM.

I found it! 13 Aug 2006    Chim Chimeny (Chimney Bluff Earthcache)  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 2.5 )

*Late Log*

Here's what I said originally:

This one was on our "must do" list for caches on the way home. What an amazing site to see! This has to be one of the best Earthcaches that I've done to date. You're right - the landscape does look like that of another planet. Felt as if I was walking on Mars. Thanks for bringing us here, Chilehead.

Really glad to finally get this one. I've heard many great things about it, all of which were true. Previous finder GuineaGal was with us, to nudge and poke us in the right direction at times. I found it! 22 Apr 2006    Low & Behold (Read Warning)  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Wow, this cache made for an awesome find for several reasons.
Besides being an "old school" cache placed in 2001, containing the ORIGINAL logbook, this was the location of the big-name WNY Cacher, BarbershopDru's 1000th find!
More than 20 cachers accompanied her to this historic milestone, and were there to cheer her on as she made the find.
Congrats on your milestone Dru; you're a true asset to the geocaching community!

I found it! 22 Apr 2006    Hornby Lodge: Frontier Mansion  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2.5 )

I went to find this one today with Dru and Vargseld. He had found this one previously, but came along for the walk. We saw the Mom's at the cache area as we approached, and the find was made easily.
Nice hide, I TNLNSL, thanks for the cache.

I found it! 19 Apr 2006    Oops! Wrong turn  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 2 )

Wow! I really need to get my contact lenses checked if I can't see something like this the first time. I was out caching at Chestnut Ridge with Hiking Cockroachess and she kindly let me stop to find this one even though she had found it a few weeks ago. Great cache, hope this area gets put to good use after this cache is archived soon.
Thanks again Urkel.

I found it! 19 Apr 2006    CHESTNUT RIDGE  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

Wow, this "old school" cache hasn't been visited for a while. Out caching at Chestnut Ridge with Hiking Cockroachess - she had already found this one a while back but didn't mind going after it again. It was a nice walk down the creek, many pretty views from here. Took a while to find the cache, but everything is looking good. Thanks for maintaining this one Brogan (and now Szuchie!).

Me likey this puzzle cache.

I found it! 11 Mar 2006    Country Wheels  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 3 )

This cache started off our day. Math is not my forte, so I left it to the rest of the crew. Although they seemed to have a little trouble figuring out the coords. Nice cache, lots of work went into creating it I can tell.

Note 06 Nov 2005    The Season Series:AUTUMN  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

I'm in concurrence with Urkel about Kohls.. Target is much better - its also a great alternative to that dreadful store that rhymes with "Mall Mart" :)

I found it! 15 Oct 2005    Letchworth Fall Gathering IV  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

This was my first Letchworth Gathering attended and also my first time at the park. I really enjoyed it. Thanks to those who set up the event, and also to those who hid some of the caches in the park. Had a good time meeting some more cachers and seeing some old ones. I look forward to going to Letchworth V.

I found it! 17 Aug 2005    THE OTHER SISTER  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2 )

Met McClan while searching and I grabbed a travel-bug. Huckle "Senior" made the find on this one. Loved exploring the area- listening to the thunderous water cascading down, and also the smells. I left 3 travel-bugs, one geo-coin, and a book-crossing.com book and took the "Nova Dude" Bug in the cache. Thanks for the cache.

I found it! 01 Jul 2005    Railroad for History  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2 )

This is definately my most favorite multi-cache so far in my time caching. Dragonflyby & myself had little difficulty. Leg 1 could use a little polishing up, but we were able to decipher the coords correctly. Thanks for showing us a little piece of history.

I found it! 01 Jun 2005    Jonah Williams AKA The Millrace Cache  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

Well, after the breeze of HW1, Myself & Dragonflyby thought we could find this cache relatively easy. Well, after looking for about an hour with no luck, we thought of calling it quits. Hiking Cochroachess then shows up and helps in the hunt. Well, a short while after the 3 of us still had no luck, so we all headed to Exit's other cache across the road. Who shows up at that cache right after Hiking Cochroachess hucklebuckle's at that cache?, why Exit Mundi and Tabby92! We then proceeded back to the cache so Exit and Tabby could help us out. I then soon hucklebuckle'd. Took travel bug.
