Thanks to all that searched and left a comment.

Quinn thank you for all the things that you did to promote and foster a geo community in the early days of caching in the western NY area.

Note 28 May 2011    The Dead Marshes  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 4 )

Chile is correct, he and I and a few crickets are the only ones home. (occasionally)

Either way what is troubling to me is, you asked for a cache to be listed on this site when you didn't ACTUALLY place a cache. What were you hoping to learn/gain from that?

Note 04 Feb 2010    R U a Bushwhacker?  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 3 )

Mack if you do return or if anyone else visits, feel free to pick up any pieces of the cache/contents you might find and be LTL. If the cache stayed where it was originally placed by now it should be encased in a tree.

Note 03 Oct 2009    Devil Cove  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

I picked up the cache this afternoon. I had a great time on the bay, a front moved through around 4pm and it really blew hard for a few minutes. I was getting pretty wet from the chop so I stopped and put on the spray skirt. From then on I was nice and dry, I love the rougher water!

A shout out to the cacher that informed me there was a typo in the listing coords. Doesn't matter now, this cache has been pulled.

I have sent the owner an email through the georoc website.
Thanks,
Wheelygood

Note 10 Jun 2009    A Quicker Paddle  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 2 )

Wednesday night is now dedicated to the races at Bay Creek. Calling it a race is misleading. The course covers a small part of the bay and the creek. Participants are individually timed paddling the two-mile course, each week you “race” to beat your personal best time. It’s fun, 8 bucks gets you the use of their boats, your recorded time, a hot dog and a pretty fair selection of craft beer. If you beat your time you get a certificate for a free race night. Mack4 and GeoGriffin paddled tonight too, of course I didn't tell either them about the cache until after I found it.

So, after paddling a 22.48 I cooled down with a paddle out to the base of what I image must have been a very fine lamppost, on what I imagine back in the day must have been a very fine wharf. I was expecting a bison and surprised to see a new lock n lock. I was even more surprised to see the $10 gift card to Moonbeams (I hear they have “ok” ice cream) I would have thought someone else (R) would have been out for a quicker paddle.

Hey can you bump the terrain up to a five? I don’t want to lower my over all average.

Thanks Chile.

I’ve been ordered to get more exercise so, I decided today during lunch I would look for the closest Navicache to my home. I parked out at Lake Rd. and made my way through the cold, blowing and drifting snow (the wind chill must be close to single digits). The wind was so strong it blew my cache print out and hat away. I got to gz and spent close to an hour searching to no avail. It’s a good thing I found a hat right away and put it on otherwise I might have been in trouble.

No cache but a new hat I guess I came out even today!
Thanks, I think.

I found it! 17 Oct 2007    Shagbark  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

Another Barrington and Mrs. B cache in Black Creek Park…ahhh. I receive a tip from Chile that there’s a brand new Navicache…ahhh. The weather is more like Spring than Fall…ahhh. I should be somewhere else but instead I’m hiking in the woods with a bed of dry leaves beneath my feet (I didn’t need to write the ahhh, you thought it on your own)

It was a picture perfect afternoon for a walk in a park I have only visited to find geocaches. It’s a great place, I love crossing what used to be fields now outlined by the mature trees and long rows of rock piles. I took a trail most of the way there but decided for the walk back I would stick to the higher contour through the open woods all the way back to the car. It was very nice, I saw a couple of butterflies, a few different birds and one, just one tree with brightly colored ‘fall’ leaves.

I really do appreciate the caches you have placed over the past several years. They certainly provide some quality and give cachers a chance to look for an old school cache.

I didn’t make any trades but as usual it’s a good mixture of stuff in there.
Thanks,
Wheelygood

Wow today's temps has me itching for spring caching! I must have passed 30 people out walking on my way over here tonight.

I did not think I would use the rest of the sunshine to locate the cache and I didn't bring a light so as it got darker I called Chile. He was kind enough to help me and I'll venture a guess if my poker cards were better he would have let me keep looking.

Thanks!

Woo hoo way to go Rochrach on your FTF! I liked your line "Got a big adrenaline rush hiking to the cache knowing that I might be a FTF." So very true.

Note 15 Jan 2006    A Drive in the Country  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Hello,

This is a interesting location and it's interesting Navicache has approved two virtuals at the same location.

Check out Blackpete's 'Strange Birds'

I found it! 03 Nov 2005    Wolf Tree  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 4 )

Another quality cache by Mr. Barrington, a nice variety of Wolf Trees, well planned routes and good recommendations included in the cache listing, (read; I brought a map and I back tracked when I should have). I saw plenty of deer, a fox, a bunny and a few birds.
I floundered for a long time at the first wp, freaked out when I almost walked on a partially eaten deer, once I changed batteries the coords were very close at all wps.

Took the FTF prize and left a miniature mantle clock.
Thanks for taking the time to place this cache!

I stopped back after work to complete the extension and to see for myself the bonus features, I hope nobody steals any of them and leaves them for others to see. Weird, cool and interesting, I think you've improved upon an already excellent cache.

I found it! 19 Aug 2005    Turtle  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 5 )

I got home from work, noticed this new cache and thought what better way to work off some work week stress than to get out in my kayak. I checked the weather radar and it looked like I might be able to get out before the rain hit so off I went. I have spent very little time on Black Creek, however, I should keep it in mind because it really is quite nice. I did see a lot of turtles but more birds, toads, frogs, snakes and late summer wildflowers. Pay attention to the instructions in the listing and you will not have any trouble finding the cache. I did finish the last ½ mile of the 4 mile round trip in the rain but it was refreshing.

Thank you for the awesome FTF gift, your craftsmanship is outstanding!
Dropped off the first TB and WG whistle, this marks my 8th FTF by boat.

I stopped and signed the logbook before heading over to Brownstein’s to get the best bagels in Rochester. Saw one dog walker and a lot of chipmunks, I love the grove.

Warning do not look in the end of the large hollowed out log right next to the trail, it’s a real spoiler!

I huffed and puffed my way up to this one after kayaking over from the boat launch and finding the new Hemlock Wilderness cache. I should have looked at a topo first and avoided the steep knoll between the two gullies. I ping ponged around before finding the box. Took nothing.

Thanks for the exercise up and down the hill.

Took nothing, left you know what and placed your intact lock back on.

Well you did a great job on the layout of this cache. I visited 3 areas before reaching the end and logging in. I enjoyed my walk through the park and around a couple of the holes today. A few people were out but otherwise very quiet.
Left a whistle, took nothing.

I found it! 09 Sept 2004    Catch the Ketch - Rochester Visitor's Info North  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1 )

I tried to figure out who was honored with a statue at the new ferry terminal by researching online to no avail. I had to see the statue in person to learn it is unique to the area. A quick calculation brought me to the 10th of a mile away hiding spot. Due to potential muggle issues I abandoned my large red and white umbrella and made the grab returning to my cache mobile to sign in. I can hardly argue with your cache recommendations, heck, one of mine made the list!

Thanks for the FTF prize.

I found it! 09 Sept 2004    Sand Castle  ( Difficulty: 5    Terrain: 1 )

Kate takes the honors for this FTF.

We treated this cache like we would a sand trap on a golf course, we made each stroke count. We had the beach all to ourselves, it was deserted of bathers except for a few county workers cleaning up. No need to hurry down to see our castle, we waited a few days after finding it to post our find so the rain and time would help remove any spoilers we may have left behind.

My Magellan says the coords are dead on, the Garmin was 18 feet away.

Took nothing, left a whistle.

I found it! 03 Jan 2004    Brogan's Topo Lesson  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 3.5 )

I took the name of the cache to heart, studied and was rewarded with an easy walk through the hardwoods. I found the cache as I was I looking a vista vantage point. The woods are nice but the photo ops are down in the gully so I lowered myself down and hiked up and all the way back out through the runoff. I think it was good practice for one of Rocky’s.

We had been here as a family during the picnic and I wanted to view the falls from the other vantage point so we crossed the creek and had a good hike that day. Today I stayed on 19 and found the cache and nice winter views. If there is any water flowing I recommend checking out the falls on the south east side of the bridge at the trail head.

Thanks for the fun.

I found it! 28 Dec 2003    Bristol Mountain Madness  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4.5 )

After dropping the girls off at Bristol for day 1 of a 3 day ski camp and since the snow/trail conditions are not exactly ideal for more advanced skiers I decided to hike Stid Hill. I parked in the lot and found the white trail that lead into the woods, stopped and took a few photos where the little drainage wash crosses the trail. From there I headed towards the cache and picked up the blue trail, found the cache without trouble less than .5 mi. from the parking, I cleaned out the business cards, ticket stubs and left a log. I then continued and wandered around for another 3 mi. If there is any water flowing check out the falls at 42 45.598 / 77 23.752.
I enjoyed the hill, I hope others enjoy the photos.

Note 13 Dec 2003    Indian Falls  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

Enjoyed my early evening walk over to the falls. I have been nearby before for HT's cache, slight difference between the two though this one is actually hidden. The darkness made for a good hunt. The frost has shifted the earth just enough to trap the cache so I was unable to sign the log book. I took a couple photos to share, none are cache spoilers but they do spoil the surprise of the beauty of the area.

Thanks for the fun.

I found it! 12 Dec 2003    Cache Master ~Flash  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 3 )

I started Cache Master Flash at day break on a Saturday in early November and finished it up at the night of 12/12 in a nice snow fall at about the same time as I quit in November. I did not complete the cache in a day liked I had hoped, the last set of coords were off and this added an extra 1.5 miles to the journey. It took about three weeks to track down Lighthouse before the correction to the final location was made. There were 2 slats that were lying on the ground so until Lighthouse posts they have been picked up the snow will block your success.

As the crow flies the distance from the first slat at the southern entrance of Ellison Pk. to the cache is 1/3 of the total miles I hiked and biked to complete this cache. I ran out of water and was grateful to have a phone to get ferried back to the start. You walk through the park to another park. I have not figured out the number but there are several caches listed on both sites you pass by while completing this one.

So what can I compare this truly epic cache to…reading Moby Dick straight through…running a marathon, except this will take longer and covers less ground…driving ½ way to Florida…winning the lottery because 3 different times I was about to give up and then by dumb luck I saw the slat…thinking for hours *this has GOT to be the last waypoint*…and being incorrect.

My hat is off to Lighthouse Rocket for setting up this cache and providing a handsome reward to the first finder, I left 2 items and each has double digit value. I encourage anyone who likes a good cache challenge to give this one a go.

Thanks for the weight loss.

I completed D D Goose with the aid of a full moon after doing the nearby Nido de la Lechuza. I had this part of the park all to myself as I did not see or hear another person.
Part 1 is the best waypoint marker I have seen yet. I was fortunate to have ridden my bike since the roads are closed at night. I did not have the energy to walk to each waypoint, I finished at 11 pm.

Good cache.

I was heading south on 96 and finally had an opportunity to take a decent photo of one of the deer. I saw the deer, a button buck, between the USCG drive and the 5 Points drive, the deer are not as plentiful on the east side as they are along west side of the park on 96A.

I have to visit I-town once a week and this cache provided a good diversion during this trip. I will have to bring the rest of the family back so they can enjoy the grounds and attempt the challenge, the girls will love the treehouse. I enjoyed playing peek a bo with the fox.

Took nothing from the cache, left a lanyard and a few words.

One half of the Wheelygood Team found this one while we were in the park scoping out future campsites. We were on our way home from a long weekend of camping in Cedar Run in the Grand Canyon of Pa. Met up with a young couple out on their 1st and 2nd cache hunt so we held back while they logged in.

I think listening to Steve Earl w/ the Del McCoury Band on the way to the park helped us find the cache. Took nothing and dropped off a TB heading to a Bday party down south.

Logging in to claim first to find all 1 - 24 controls. I started out mid afternoon once I was convinced the rain was through. I started at #8 and ended with #18. I parked in 4 different locations and drove 3.5 mi. I hiked and biked another 9.73 mi. I saw a lot of wildlife, including a couple fawns, 2 woodcocks, 4 different species of butterflies and many song birds.

I logged in a couple navicaches while I was in the area as well.

It was a great afternoon and a wheelygood way to commence Father's Day weekend!

Note 05 Jun 2003    The Pancake  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

I have not really completed the cache instructions so I can not claim FTF.

On my way home from Ithaca yesterday I noticed the pancake breakfast sign and quite remarkably I also remembered Cameron's The Pancake Cache. A quick turn around in the Dutchman parking lot brought me back to the Waterloo Airport entrance at 3656 State Route 96 Waterloo, NY 13165 ph 315-539-3670. The coords from the road are
42* 50.861 / 076* 50.963.

I did not see anyone around the hangers to ask more about the breakfast. I did call the number and left a message on the machine for Bob Harwood asking about how many planes they expect and if the breakfast is a fundraiser.

I spoke to Bob and he tells me they have 2 breakfasts a year, the spring breakfast has a turn out of about 200 eaters and 12 planes and a about 1/2 as many in the fall. The breakfast is a fundraiser for the airport flying club.

Bear Swamp is one of those places where you can feel like you are truly all alone. I had a nice walk in the trails in the woods and on the seasonal road. I watched a couple turkeys from the swamp lookout (B trail) while eating a snack but other than the turkeys and a couple snowmobiles on the road I didn't see or hear anything else. Cache is in great shape and loaded with really high end stuff, you won't want to pass this cache up.

43* 08.989 / 77* 35.183

Take a peek at the photo so you can get an idea what the roving cache might look like.

No tools are required to recover the cache and it is winter accessible, food joint nearby so bring your keen eyesight and an appetite for pie.
Terrain is a 1, even in dress shoes and the Difficulty is a 2.

Happy Holidays and Happy Hunting.

I found it! 30 Nov 2002    Country Wheels  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 3 )

This was a fun hunt and a great use of a park by highlighting some of its hidden treasures and trails.
Left a pencil sharpener and suggest to the next winter finder to bring a pencil as the pen ink might be frozen.
Thanks for the hide,

I found it! 30 Nov 2002    Henpecked  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Honors for this find go to Casey of the Upinyachit Team. Yesterday when we were looking for this cache he found all the mini caches and hung right in there until the end always keeping a upbeat attitude. Thanks Casey.

I enjoyed getting to another part of the canal I had never been to.

Dropped off a TB took nothing.

Gave it a good try today w/ help from another navicache team. Probably would not have gotten as far as I did without their help. Oh well it was a good morning to be out anyhow.

I found it! 21 Nov 2002    Joannes Trek  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Found the cache as it was getting dark signed in traded TBs and stumbled back to the car w/out a light.

What is more fun, shopping for soap or geocaching?? Well, I will always choose the latter and so today when we discovered we were out of soap I headed over and picked up Hit The Showers TB.
Thanks for the hide.
Forgot to note I left a dbl set of playing cards.

Cache has been poached twice so I guess it just is not to be.

I found it! 15 Nov 2002    Along the Roots of Big Bend  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 3.5 )

Fantastic cache! If only they all could be this good…mine included. This hike will take you to some very interesting and rewarding areas in a part of the park most of us will seldom visit. I did not see or hear another person while hiking but I did witness a squirrel fall about 40’ out of a tree. All the coords were pretty good and the hides done well. The only comment I have is the 1st cache has only one set of coords written in the logbook, there are not coords for River-View Cache. I did walk down to the river to look around a bit and I took advantage of all the recommended viewing sites. I highly recommend this cache. I picked up the traveling cache and left a bug in a box.

When I yelled Huckle Buckle Wheelygood Beanstalk the beavers slapped their tales and dove under, must have been the first time they heard that before.

Thanks for the fun,
Wheelygood

I came to find the cache from what I think was an usual route. I was not near any of the other caches so I will have to come back to do them at a later date. Nice hide, looks very natural. I got to watch a healthy red fox on my way in.

I found it! 08 Nov 2002    Wyoming County Forest #1  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

This is a nice cache, once you find it you will have been to the middle of nowhere. The woods are very nice, all the leaves except for the beech trees have fallen to the ground so I rode my bike on a carpet of yellow and orange. Saw tracks from turkeys, saw a 4 pt buck, heard chickadees and nuthatches. There was still some snow on the ground so I made a bunch of decoy tracks to throw off the next cachers to look. Took the lottery ticket, dropped off Bernard TB, took the first photo and was the first person to enter a log. Thanks for the perfect excuse to be late to work.

I found it! 08 Nov 2002    Beaver Meadow  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Stopped by this cache after finding Wyoming #1. This is one of those caches where it takes awhile for you to get closer to it. Saw over a dozen turkeys as I approached the cache location, it was pretty windy and they must not have heard me coming. Picked up the TB and left a set of playing cards.
Thanks for the walk,
Wheelygood

I couldn 01 Nov 2002    MacIntyre's Bluff reborn as a NaviCache  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

I will bet you dollars to donuts this cache is history. I had just done the two caches to the east and thought I'd try this one, after all it was still early 7:15pm and I had plenty of flashlight battery left. Nice road right down to the shore so I only had to open the car door to look. Wow was the wind howlin I guess 30+ mph and huge waves in the light beam. Looks like there has been some earth moving work done and there was maybe 20 ft of dry beach not many places to hide the cache. If someone finds it let me know.

I found it! 01 Nov 2002    Blackbeard's Galley  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4 )

AS logged else where...
My job brought me to the Syr. area today and being the good cacher that I am I made time to find a cache. This was not just any cache it had the potential of being my 100th find so it had to have a couple things going for it. First it needed to be not very popular so there would not be the tell tale trail leading to it and secondly it needed a decent rating. There are a few fine caches in the area that fill the bill but Blackbeard’s Galley won out. It was a nice bushy walk to the cache and I found it without incident I placed the following recipe inside, logged in and left picking up some trash on my way out.

Rum Runner (Wheelygood Version) ½ gallon

Rum 14 oz.
Blackberry Brandy 3.5 tablespoons
Crème de Banana 3.5 tablespoons
OJ 28 oz.
Grenadine 7 tablespoons
Ice 24 +/- oz.
Blend til slushy and garnish w/ a slice of lemon

I found it! 31 Oct 2002    Down in the Dumps  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

My wife will be down in the dumps when she hears about this cache, she has been planning a similar one of her own. Oh well. Found the cache without incident, signed in, snatched Lilliput TB and left.

I found it! 30 Oct 2002    Watership Down  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

(update log entries)
I have enjoyed reading all the kudos for this cache and when I saw that the ‘Where’s Po Cache’ was there too, that was all the carrot I needed to hop on over. The cache lives up to the hype, very nicely done. Thanks for a wander in a park I would not have had a reason to visit. I picked up Po and will move him soon.

I found it! 25 Oct 2002    How Do You Get Out Of Here? (ARCHIVED)  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

(updating logs)
When I returned home from a business trip I was surprised to see the cache still had not been found. So I went and found it late this afternoon. Very nice area and the suroundings once you get to the cache are well worth your walk no matter which direction you approach from.

Yelled the first Huckle Buckle Beanstalk, dropped off the first TB and entered the first log.

Junglehair, thanks for all the fun hides this week.

I found it! 22 Oct 2002    Genesee Valley Park I (ARCHIVED)  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1 )

This was not to hard of a find but I think it was mostly luck, I just caught a glimpse of the container after fumbling around a bit. I left a stamp and my usual greeting with the word FIRST underneath. So far I am 2 for 2 today and off for cache number 3. Oh yeah, another cool stamp (clean)

Thanks for the hide,

I found it! 22 Oct 2002    Genesee Valley Park II (ARCHIVED)  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

This was one of those caches that you spend way too much time looking for when all along it was right there. I even called a teammate to read me the clue, I was sooo close to giving up. The thought of leaving a first to find was to much so I looked some more and wouldn’t you know it 2 feet in front of me. I placed the first entry in the log and actually looked at the goodies inside, wow, nice goodies. I took a little stamp and in my dumbness forgot to put the lone trade item I brought with me in the cache. So there you are right off the bat the cache has lost some value, sorry Junglehair.

All in all it was a good day for caching, 3 first to finds and challenged to boot.

Thanks for the hides,

Wheelygood

I found it! 22 Oct 2002    Cobb's Hill Cache (ARCHIVED)  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 3.5 )

Timing is everything but sometimes you have to work hard to take advantage of the timing. Today I had good timing and I applied a bit of fun hard work. I am glad I beat the leaves to this cache, after the oaks start dropping this one will be very tough to find, it was tough today. There is a cool stamp inside that everyone will want to get so it is well worth the effort.

I could not figure out why the stamp was clean and the inkpad still in the wrapper, then it dawned on me, I was first. Huckle Buckle Wheelygood Beanstalk

I found it! 20 Oct 2002    Cracker-Barrel Keepsake  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Today was such a nice day for any activity outdoors, I'm lucky enought to love the water so that's where I headed. Put in at Turning Point and spent a hour poking along the west side and the turn around cove. Got out once to hide a cache and scared a 6 point buck into the cattails, what a racket, it must have scared it's self even more because it ended up in the river and swam to the other side. I followed it right to Pete's cache and I left it with Wilbur TB I took the other TB.
Timing is everything so thanks to Rippie I got out to enjoy a treasure this morning.

I found it! 19 Oct 2002    Where am I ?  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1.5 )

Headed out a little while ago to look for the cache and it was a good thing too. I foiled a robbery! Yup, I did. I parked pretty close by and as I got out I noticed several hooligans hanging around a fenced in area with one of them up on top with bolt cutters snipping away. Being the I got something to say about every situation I yelled at them to stop and of course they all 7 or 8 hooligans maybe there was 20? of them, rode off...on their bikes!) They were cutting their way into the bike storage for the Eastman students. Whew, that was close I thought maybe I wouldn't get to look for the cache. So I started wandering around looking for the area and found it without too much trouble, I had left the gps in car. Started my search and came upon more youngsters hanging out in the alley I don't know if they were guys or girls, I can't tell anymore between all the piercings and the real baggy clothes, short colorful hair and it was dark. Well, I guess my searching weirded them out because they soon took off. A couple minutes later I found the cache and asked a passing student to take my photo. As requested I looked for some small sticks to build a teepee with but all I could find was pigeon droppings so I was on my way.
I forgot to do two things, first I neglected to yell Huckle Buckle Wheelygood Beanstalk and secondly to check on my No Compromise No. 1 which is less than 1000' away. Duh

Thanks for the fun hide and 'Where Am I' will be hidden soon maybe as soon as Scrawny finds some other existing creatively hidden micro caches.

I am glad I checked the web before heading out of town this morning, nothing like a new cache to get one moving out of the house a bit faster.

I had fun searching for all the clues and seeing the town in a different light. There was a lot of work that went into this cache and there are some nice prizes for those that succeed.

I left nothing but was the first to yell Huckle Buckle Wheelygood Beanstalk, take the first photo and leave the first log.

This looks like an interesting cache. I stopped by today since Auburn is pretty much on the way from Ithaca to Webster and had a look. Could not look very hard because of folks in the area and I did not want to draw any attention to my activities. I hope to get back soon.

I found it! 22 Sept 2002    Monkey See  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4 )

As the crow flies Monkey See Cache is directly inline with my house and the nearest Tim Horton's so it made perfect sense for me to stop by this morning and have a look for the cache. I grabbed a dozen donuts and headed over, you never know who you might run into. I found it and put the 1st log and our sticker in the book. I enjoyed my still warm donuts while waiting for the next cacher to show up. I never did see anyone but some dog did come around and had a few warm donuts with me.

Thanks for the hide and generous 1st to find it prize, I left a Barlow knife in return.

I would rate this cache pretty high on my list of 1st finds and one other thing, Huckle Buckle Wheelygood Beanstalk!

I found it! 22 Sept 2002    Monkey Do  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

After the challenge of Monkey See I had know idea what I was up against for this cache but I found it without too much trouble and for the second time in less than a 1/2 hour placed the 1st log in the logbook. Moments after that for the second time in less than a 1/2 hour the same some dog shared more still warm donuts with me. I think I made a friend today! Took nothing, left our sticker and shouted out Huckle Buckle Beanstalk, boy you should of seen that dog take off...

I found it! 19 Sept 2002    Lakeview Point  ( Difficulty: 4.5    Terrain: 3 )

Well I finally had a chance to get back to this lonely area, I was there last August on a 90+ degree day and bagged 2 nearby caches but came up empty on Lakepoint. Today when I checked my loaded cache coords I was WAAAY off, yee haa because that meant no more floundering around in the 12' Phragmites like last time. Parked very close and rode my bike the rest of the way to the cache and found it without to much trouble. The best part of the trip was the dozens of Monarch butterflies that were feeding on some sort of weed near the cache area.
Thanks Anton!

I found it! 09 Sept 2002    Hilly Hills Adventure  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 4 )

We were a tad bit apprehensive going after a Scrawny cache after the trouble he had with CacheBoom plus a 5 rating. Whew, don't see many of those around here. Anyhow it was such a nice day a miss and a walk in the woods would not be so bad either so we loaded up a first aid kit and headed over.
We made our way to the site and with one person looking here there and everywhere and the other person giving directions we found the cache. Opened up the box and looked in the logbook and WHOA not a first log?? So you guess it we LOGGED IN FIRST. Huckle Buckle Wheelygood Beanstalk.
Thanks for the hide and giving us a reason to visit a place we probably would not otherwise.
The Wheelygood Team
p.s. Scrawny I think you should refill out the clayjar rating survey and see what rating it comes up with, this cache is a bit overstated.

I found it! 06 Sept 2002    Don Quixote`s Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4.5 )

I took the shortcut to this cache tonight, it was my last of three "Rippie's" for the day. The rest of the team was at home waiting on me for dinner. I didn't see anyone but did notice 5 deer upriver. I'm going to get online and listen to Gordon's song.
Thanks for another fine hide.

p.s. Next time you are out in the woods needing a little TP there is a roll stashed next to this cache. Leave it to Rip always thinking of others.

I found it! 06 Sept 2002    Valley Of The Inukshuk  ( Difficulty: 4.5    Terrain: 4.5 )

This cache is a new favorite. I'll have to bring back more Team members another time we'll walk down from up river. Tonight I took a shortcut over the edge from just about directly above. Very pretty area with the unique rock out croppings. Did not take the time to build my own inukshuk and forgot my camera. Oh well, guess I'll have to come back.

I found it! 30 Aug 2002    Sleepy Hollow  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

This morning I logged on to check out “Star Girls Cache” in Ithaca to see if there were any updates. I planned to move the Eeyore Travel Bug there while in town on business. It was then that I noticed “Sleepy Hollow” and hmmm…490 to 90…gee, I gotta go right by it. So sure enough (I know what is important) I find myself at the parking lot.

A quick call to a team member “what side of the creek is this thing on” I wanted to know if my feet were going to be wet all day. It was nice walk back to the cache location and I think I was all alone. Signed the log and I was on my way.

Oops, almost forgot…Huckle Buckle Beanstalk……..Wheelygood was first!

I found it! 28 Aug 2002    Message in a Bottle  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

It was a good thing the shortest members of the team were present today because they found both caches. Great fun and nice goodies for them to trade. I grabbed the Bugatti and will help it on it's race back to Southerland Cache in Ne.

Note to previous seekers; it's ok to flip the rocks over but you should return them as found. For every rock left disturbed it is one less rock the next looker needs to lift.

I found it! 12 Aug 2002    The Pirates Treasure  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 4 )

I briefly looked for the cache on 8/9/2002. If I found it right away I might have continued on but I was really there to do the other nearby caches. Bagged 6 out of the 8 on the east side.

Came back early afternoon on 8/10/2002 and found the bottle right away. Loaded coords and quickly realized I would need the rest of the Wheelygood Team to complete this cache.
Leg 2 – Sunday 6:30 pm. While the girls fed the livestock I stole away and found the 2nd bottle. I heard voices and saw the back of someone on the other side of the creek so I high tailed it outta there, I didn’t want to be a surprise spoiler.
Leg 3 – Sunday 7:30 pm. We headed in the direction of one of the last destinations and while the girls spoke to the spirits I changed elevation by a couple hundred feet in a matter of a few feet and contemplated what special equipment we would need next. It was truly one of those so close and yet so far away moments. We got out of there just before the gates were locked. Headed home, nite nite girls.
Leg 4 – Sunday 9:30 pm. Found me on my bike with a headlamp getting to within a few hundred feet of what I hoped would be the last bottle. After quite a bit of balancing back and forth trying not to leave too many hints behind, I by dumb luck I found the bottle.
Leg 5 – Monday 7 pm. The four team members arrived at the desired location and plundered the cache box. The young girls took a real Pirates Dagger and an Emerald Ring. I snatched Isabell Onaway and will get her out of Rochester shortly. We added a bug in a box, wind gauge, compass w/ a whistle, hand clappers and the FIRST LOG! Took the first photo of our Pirates. Once again we got out of there just before a set of gates were locked.
Huckle Buckle Wheelygood Beanstalk!!
Rippie and Hinge, thanks for the adventure!

P.S. This Deadhead left the Jimmy CD for the first Parrot Head.

I found it! 09 Aug 2002    The Great Genesee River Deer Run  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

This was the last cache for the day thanks to the late sunset. I parked to far away and had about a mile round trip hike. It's a nice part of the river next time I'll come by boat.
Thanks for the hide,

I found it! 09 Aug 2002    Rear View Mirror Cache  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 4.5 )

I Billy Goated back and forth for 1/2 hr. kept thinking I would make the news by needing a rescue. Wished I had brought a rope. This was a good hide, I never should go with my instincts.
Thanks,

We came over to the park so the kids could play while their Mom and Pop played. This was a good cache and we let the kids do the decode portion. Took a photo, logged in and replaced cache as found.
Thanks Scrawny82,

I found it! 05 Aug 2002    Nice Place for Lunch  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 3.5 )

Nice cache location. I didn't eat lunch there but I did clean out the stones from my boots. I'd say the water is about 3-4' below the hiding spot. Took photo a w/ about 19 pics left. Signed the log and headed out.
Thanks for the hide,
Wheelygood

I found it! 05 Aug 2002    West Shore Bird's Nest  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

This was my first cache to find on the west side of the lake. It is an amazing place sort of surreal. Left a log and took nothing.

I found it! 04 Aug 2002    Chimney Bluffs State Park  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Well I never like to give up so I went back and came in from another approach. I had asked philo about the location we had searched the first time and he said it was in.....
Yup, he was correct but my gps said I was 200 feet from the spot. Anyhow I'm logging this find just in case it is never brought back to life. There is a lot of P I to get to the cache location.
Thanks for the hide and philo you should reactivate this one.

I found it! 03 Aug 2002    Gimpys Walk  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Went up an over the hill to get to it. Spotted it from above as the geocache logo was pretty evident. Took a photo and logged in. Did a better job of concealing cache in exact location as found.

I found it! 02 Aug 2002    The Troll's Treasure  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 4.5 )

Complete team effort tonight, girls traded a nice knife for 2 coins. Wet inside, drained out water, entered a log, took a photo and replaced as found.

I found it! 28 Jul 2002    Orient Express  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 3 )

Very nice hide, I grew up playing all over the other side of Kings Hwy. never spent much time in this part of the park, nice and quiet. The Wheelygood Team was down to a single rep by the time we got to this cache the rest of team bailed for some lunch but I carry plenty of "reserves" and could stand to miss a couple more lunches. Anyhow it was a good walk in and a good hiding spot. Took a bandana for a lanyard.
Thanks for the hide,

I found it! 28 Jul 2002    Dudes on the loose!  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

It was a great morning for a walk, rainy & wet one can not have more fun bushwacking in those conditions especially with a 6 & 8 yr old in tow. Found lots of golf balls on a little detour getting to the cache. Cache is pretty picked over. Parents do you teach/understand fair trade? We remember the treasure is in the hunt in and out, I grew up playing in these hills and related some stories to the rest of the team.
Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 28 Jul 2002    The Leprechaun's Treasure  ( Difficulty: 5    Terrain: 3 )

The whole team was together for this cache, 4 pair of eyes are better than 1 right?? I lead the two little ones over the edge and the missus with the GPS is still standing up top getting bearings. The place looks like it has been torn apart! She makes her way down and WHOA! what have we got here? Hide over in less than 4 minutes. Traded a magnifying loop for the irish dice.
Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 28 Jul 2002    Ghost's Domain  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

Just noticed that this was logged in under Ghost's Revenge, which we have NOT found. I will correct that shortly.

After whipping off the other nearby cache so quickly we actually spent more time on this one the rainy weather had the GPS jumping quite a bit. Took nothing as we don't trade in junk.

I found it! 26 Jul 2002    Gimpys Linear  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

key chain trinket and left a color pencil set. Thanks for the

I found it! 26 Jul 2002    Landing on the Moon  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 3 )

I found it late this afternoon but I had help from Lighthouserocket. I emailed Lighthouse for a clue because the last time I was there I was getting many different readings. I think the cords. are off a bit so plan on a wide search.
Good Luck to those that follow this is a tough hide.
Lighthouserocket thanks for the hint and challenge.

the quiet of the woods and then a swim on the way back.Took Pine Wood
Derby car and left a flashlight and glow stick.
Thanks for the tough hide.

Updating my logs from both sites.
Getting there second is like kissing your sister.
Oh well, it was well hidden and the cache is located in one of the quietest parts of the park. Took my picture, a snake and left a compact BSA drinking cup.
Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 13 Jul 2002    Issaquah's Try'n Try Again  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4 )

Ah...In my mind this is one of the better cache locations (read cool as heck)I have been to in my young geocache career. Thanks for the hide!Bit of a bummer tho the cache wasn't really hidden and some of the contents were strewn around and the log was missing. I replaced cache
where I think it was originally placed.

I couldn 07 Jul 2002    Chimney Bluffs State Park  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Stumped! Even with 16 eyeballs peering all around some high some low we could not find it. We plugged in the cords from Geocaching as well (why are they different?) and came to about the same area but still no luck. Very wet area and tons of ivy. We did find the other cache in the area and turned on some family members to caching.

I found it! 06 Jul 2002    Blind Man's Bluff  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Found this one without to much difficulty as we had 4 additional family members with us on the virgin find. Nice day for a hike and I am always amazed at how much the bluffs change from year to year. We left a SBA sticker and a smiley face super ball and took a photo and some silly putty.
Thanks for the hide,

I found it! 04 Jul 2002    Paddle Back  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 5 )

What do you call an unintentional spoiler when you are out on the hunt and the cache is in the process of being cached?....late I guess. Well we were late today, there was a floatila of canoes at the prefered location upon our arrival so we paddled on and waited. It is a nice little float trip which we do every year in early spring. Suggestion to those to come later, put in at the new park on the bay side of Empire Blvd. paddle back up to Browncroft Rd. then portage to the old Glendiver Rest.(sp?) on Old Browncroft Rd.(just to your East)put back in at that location and paddle to Empire.
Thanks for the hide,

I found it! 04 Jul 2002    Heron Bay  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

We paddled in to find this one on our way to being late at Paddle Back. Actually the 5 yr found this one and she is proud of herself. There is a diverse amount of plant life here we saw a lot in bloom on a paddle through here a few weeks before. That was before we were hooked on this caching thing.Left some stamps in the log.

Congratulations go to 7 yr. old Bridget for her first find. Kids traded a couple trinkets and we took the next to last photo.

I found it! 16 Jun 2002    1K Sanctuary  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Another newbie success story! Bagged our very 1st cache. What better way is there to tip your hat to Father's Day than to take your wife, and your 7 & 5 yrs olds and go slop through the mud after how many " of rain?? New day pack and GPS said let's go! Gee we had no idea the cache would be hidden so far off the trail. Hmmm... I can feel some serious moral discussions just around the corner. We need to remember who came first when asked not to stray from the established trail. Anyhow we had a ball, nice to have a breeze to keep the bugs away. We took a buck, a key chain, koosh ball and a photo. Left a buck, hand clappers, a cow and a rain gauge.
Thanks to the Delta Team.

I couldn 16 Jun 2002    The Tao of Funky Monkey  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

The high of finding our 1st cache an hr earlier at 1k Sanctuary wasn't enough to allow us to find this one. Is it on the north side of the drainage ditch? I did look over there....oh well atleast the knee deep water wasn't cold.
We will be back.
