CACHE LOGS - May contain hints(spoilers)!   decode

Note 01 May 2004    Locke of Olde Cache  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2 )

My second time to the cache, but went with White Foot, a friend visiting from Ottawa, who did the searching and found the cache. Traded two small compasses for crayons.

I found it! 01 May 2004    Global Geocache (ARCHIVED)  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Enjoyed the day geocaching with my friend White Foot from Ottawa. Nice weather with just a hint of rain as we were finishing. Traded some plastic CD holders for a key chain. Although the description says Tupperware, the cache looks a lot like an ammo container to me.

I found it! 01 May 2004    MC-Square  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

My friend White Foot, visiting from Ottawa, and I enjoyed the day geocaching. As we approached the site we saw people entering the woods who looked like geocachers to us, so we went for lunch at nearby TGIF to give them time. Apparently we spotted NightSpirit. We entered at a different location and seem to have taken the long route. No matter ... it was a fine walk. TNLN. Although the description says "white plastic container", it looked a lot like an ammo container to us.

I couldn 12 Oct 2003    The Great Gates Cache  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

Searched for this one unsuccessfully with the Whitefeet from Ottawa, Canada. However, we do need to add our endorsement for the ice cream stop afterward!

I found it! 11 Oct 2003    Country Wheels  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 3 )

The Whitefeet from Ottawa, Canada were visiting for the weekend. They were using their new GPS for the first time. Initially we didn't find the right trail, but we got it sorted out. Traded a wire stripper for a CD. Thanks for the walk in the park.

I found it! 11 Oct 2003    It's as easy as ABC  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

The Whitefeet from Ottawa, Canada joined me for this one. The cache was easily found after an enjoyable walk. We encountered some mountain boarders - an activity none of our group of four had seen before. We were quite interested to watch them for a while. Traded a picture frame for a casette.

I found it! 13 Aug 2003    Night Stalker Part 1 of 2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

Geo G and I enjoyed the outing and the clues with an education about some history. We continued on to Part 2.

I found it! 13 Aug 2003    Night Stalker Part 2 of 2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

I enjoyed this one with Geo G. As he mentions in his report, we spotted some wildlife. Near the end, the small flying wildlife spotted us and and were trying to secure a meal. Very nice area.

I found it! 07 Aug 2003    Water for your soul  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 1 )

While logging some recent caches, I discovered that I hadn't reported this fine outing with Geo G from long ago. I hadn't walked around this fine park previously, so this was a good introduction. TNLN. Thanks.

I found it! 04 Jul 2003    30 Mile Point Lighthouse  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Enjoyed camping with Hornet, as well as geocaching and visiting the lighthouse.

cameraRobN Hood on the lighthouse steps.

I found it! 07 Jun 2003    2003 New York Area Cachers Picnic!  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Almost let the morning rain dissuade me from going, but Gar of the GarTers convinced me to head over. It was fun to meet some of the people whose names have become familiar from reading cache logs. Great food, too.

I found it! 31 May 2003    Henpecked  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

When Geo G suggested going out in the rain, it didn't take much to convince me that exercising outside would make a much more pleasant afternoon than sitting inside looking out. This excellent geocache made it even better. Mostly easy walking, but with some challenge added in. Thanks for a fun rainy afternoon.

I found it! 18 May 2003    Escape  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2 )

What a lot of entries in a three day old cache log book. I guess that shows the power of a little advertising. This was my first cache of the season, reminding me of why I enjoyed the activity last year. Water caused a few short diversions, but in the end my shoes barely got wet. A very pleasant evening walk. Traded a retractable spool key chain for an emergency chem light and took a picture.

I found it! 01 Dec 2002    Gimpys Linear  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Geocaching with Harburu and Sunflower. It was an enjoyablle walk to get to the area. The cache itself was easy to find in the absence of any foliage.

I found it! 01 Dec 2002    Crescent Hill  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1.5 )

Geocaching with Harburu and Sunflower. This was a very nice area for a walk. Enjoyed the hills. The cache was easy to find, with no foliage to hide it.

I found it! 09 Nov 2002    Lower Falls And The Old Glen House cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

The historical information provided about this location made the trip very interesting. Later, we found a photo of the old Glen House and the elevator in the Maple Grove Cache. Thanks for adding to my knowledge of Rochester. Traded a key spool for a whistle. Enjoyed the trip with Geo G and Lima Bean.

I found it! 09 Nov 2002    Valley Of The Inukshuk  ( Difficulty: 4.5    Terrain: 4.5 )

Geo G, Lima Bean and I knew we were in the right place when we found the inukshuk. We took a while to find this one, even though the description fit the site exactly. Our GPS receivers were acting somewhat challenged by the gorge walls. I traded nothing. We left an inukshuk of our own. Thanks for the fun.

I found it! 09 Nov 2002    Maple Grove Cache  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

This was the third find after two down in the gorge, so the legs were ready for one that didn't need so much work. Particularly appreciated the historical photos since we'd just been to the Lower Falls and old Glen House cache. Was with Geo G and Lima Bean, who found the cache. I was glad that I chose to geocache today instead of rake leaves! Thanks.

I found it! 03 Nov 2002    Your boots were made for cachin'  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2 )

This cache is bursting at the seams with loot. Had a pleasant walk on a cool fall day with Harburu, Mamma D and Nelson. I continue to be introduced to new places for a stroll. Thanks.

I found it! 03 Nov 2002    Bookcrossing with Basil  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

This was a good start to a three-geocache day with Harburu, Mamma D and Nelson. I enjoyed the park and traded a book.

I found it! 26 Oct 2002    Rear View Mirror Cache  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 4.5 )

I was very glad to have my proper hiking boots rather than the shoes I usually wear geocaching. This was a lot of fun. As Geo G says, the hill was muddy and slippery, which added to the "entertainment". Thanks for the start of a fun morning. Traded nothing.

I found it! 26 Oct 2002    PEZ Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4.5 )

Hiked along the hill with Geo G from the Rear View Mirror to find this one. For part of the way, we followed what looked like it might once have almost been a path. Found the cache quickly. Thanks.

I found it! 26 Oct 2002    Don Quixote`s Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4.5 )

Getting a lot of exercise with Geo G. This is the third Rippie cache of the day. My legs are still telling me about it a day later. I've been living in the area for years, but it took geocaching to get me out to enjoy these fine spots. Thanks Rippie.

I found it! 26 Oct 2002    Seneca Trails  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Topped off the morning with Geo G by finding this cache. Thanks.

I found it! 19 Oct 2002    Locke of Olde Cache  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2 )

I would never have known that this historical spot was hidden behind the stores. Harburu and I were geocaching together today - he's familiar with the area, but this was his first geocache. We got a late start because it had been raining. Took nothing and left nothing.

I found it! 19 Oct 2002    Mendon Ponds Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Harburu and I got quite a bit of exercise approaching this location over the hills. Even though it was raining earlier, the weather was ideal for a walk. Although I've been to the park quite a few times, I was unfamiliar with this area. Took a tennis ball and left a Harley Davidson magnet.

I found it! 19 Oct 2002    Mendon Ponds #2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Third and last cache of the day for Harburu and I. We enjoyed the walk through the woods. Although there are nature trails in the area, we managed to park such that there was no trail from our starting point. This is a very nice area. Thanks for the fun. Took nothing, left nothing.

I found it! 13 Oct 2002    Goose Poop Trail  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

Decided to do this geocache as a last minute activity on this pleasant fall Sunday afternoon after a tour of the Amazing Maise Maze. This was a very nice walk in a surprisingly well hidden park area. Took the planes and seeds and left a Wegmans frig magnet and a Toonie (a $2 Canadian coin). This weekend I introduced the Whitefeet to geocaching. Thanks.

I found it! 12 Oct 2002    Watership Down  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Introduced friends from Ottawa, Ontario (The White feet) to Geocaching with this cache today. The first clue was found very easily, but the subsequent ones were more difficult due to gps wandering coordinates under the tree cover. Took a book and left a catnip-stuffed bunny.

I found it! 05 Oct 2002    HOGS BACK VISTAS  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Topped off the day after the picnic with the great view from this cache location. Went with Geo G, POG and Lima Bean, who actually spotted the cache first.

I found it! 05 Oct 2002    Brogan's Topo Lesson  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 3.5 )

With Geo G, POG and Lima Bean during the Fall Gathering. There were geocachers everywhere. As we came over the rise on the final stretch we spotted a group who had already found the cache. Oops. Oh well, we had found the Mossy Pine cache earlier and a veritable horde encountered us going through the "loot". This was certainly a day for exercise on hills.

I couldn 14 Sept 2002    The Pirates Treasure  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 4 )

Found the first clue on a second trip. Geo G and I searched for the second one, but found nothing.

I found it! 28 Jul 2002    A DEVIL OF A HIKE  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3.5 )

Every step going down, I was thinking "I'll have to go all this way back up". There was quite a bit of rain last night, so the rocks were slippery. Took a butterfly refrigerator magnet and left a plastic picture frame. This made a wonderful break during a trip returning home from a trip to Canada. Thanks.

I found it! 25 Jul 2002    Winged Things  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

Came here from Family Feud with Geo G and Sam I Am. Recommend insect repellant. Exchanged an angel pin for a butterfly stamp (which my nephew is enjoying).

I found it! 17 Jul 2002    The Leprechaun's Treasure  ( Difficulty: 5    Terrain: 3 )

What a devious cache. I'd been right at that spot on two previous visits, but just hadn't "seen" it. What fun! Took nothing, left nothing. Enjoyed the after-work outing with Geo G.

I found it! 13 Jul 2002    Durand Discovery 1  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Enjoyed a tour with Geo G around the arboretum. Exchanged a stain remover package for a keychain.

I found it! 13 Jul 2002    Durand Discovery 1  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Enjoyed a tour with Geo G around the arboretum. Exchanged a stain remover package for a keychain.

I couldn 13 Jul 2002    The Leprechaun's Treasure  ( Difficulty: 5    Terrain: 3 )

Went for a second try, this time with Geo G. Well, we failed, but we'll be back again.

I found it! 13 Jul 2002    Orient Express  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 3 )

It impresses me that orienteers find this spot using only the map and compass, with no GPS. To say that the trails along the route Geo G and I took were indistinct would be an overstatement of their quality, but we enjoyed the trip. Left a bear keychain for a carabiner.

I found it! 30 Jun 2002    Keg Creek Georger!  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Visited Hornet at Golden Hills Park while on the way back from a trip to Lake Huron. We had to look for at least one geocache. This is a very nice spot, but long pants would have been an excellent idea and the mosquitoes were certainly enjoying our company.

I found it! 12 Jun 2002    George - George...George of the Jungle!  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Joined Geo G and Hornet to once again form Team EMS. Quite a few mosquitoes tried to join in the fun, but Geo G was prepared with repellant. Nice location!

I found it! 09 Jun 2002    Message in a Bottle  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

After I had difficulty earlier finding the bottle, Geo G and I went together today. The GPSs were varying somewhat, possibly because of tree cover, but the bottle was easily spotted once we looked in the right direction. This introduced me to yet another fine spot in the town.

I found it! 09 Jun 2002    CARON S CACHE  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Stopped by during a walk with friends Willem and Aggie for another look. Found the cache within 2 minutes of arriving! The location was fairly far from the spot indicated by both Geo G's and my GPS (our trip yesterday is misfiled as on 6/10). I took a small carabiner and left a purple-snouted green pig.

I found it! 09 Jun 2002    Ghost's Domain  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

A short walk and an easy find in wonderful weather and surroundings. Took purple-snouted green pig and left deck of cards. Dancing Lady came as well.

I couldn 09 Jun 2002    The Leprechaun's Treasure  ( Difficulty: 5    Terrain: 3 )

Spent about a half hour looking before deciding to defer this one to another time and look for something easier.

I found it! 09 Jun 2002    Ghost's Revenge!  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

What a fun way to see the park. The GPS battery was just giving out so the timing was perfect. Went with Dancing Lady. Took nothing, left nothing.

I couldn 08 Jun 2002    CARON S CACHE  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Returned with Geo G and spent some more time looking, but still missed it!

I found it! 02 Jun 2002    Pink Panther  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Cool and sunny - a great day for a walk. With all the recent rain, there was quite a bit of standing water in the general area of the cache, but it just made it a little more challenging to both navigate and keep the feet dry. The cache was dry. Took nothing. Left nothing.

I couldn 02 Jun 2002    CARON S CACHE  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

I had just come from Pink Panther and was running short of time and energy, but I thought I would give this a quick try. Oh well, I'll come back another time since this is a good place for a walk.

I found it! 27 May 2002    Badge Adventure cache!  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

A sunny cool evening perfect for a walk. After a false start from mis-entry of a coordinate (one wrong digit can make quite a difference!) all went well. This introduced me to another new location for walks. Took nothing, left nothing.

I found it! 27 May 2002    Creeks Edge Cache!  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Sunny cool weather - perfect for a walk and search. The tall greenery made it difficult to see to the ground, but I found the cache easily enough once I was looking in the right direction. Took the windshield wipe and left a bike tube repair kit.

I found it! 19 May 2002    The Shining Path  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Hornet introduced Geo G and me to geocaching - I think we're hooked. We were scheduled to start Saturday, but postponed because of rain. I'm glad we persevered.
