I found it! 17 Jul 2002    Hills Creek Park Cache I  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

Mrmeasure and the Gofer (wife) found the cache, but will have to take a silver medal as Olf D Coors copped the gold. That hurts cause it is in our back yard. We live about 0.6 miles from the cache. Our excuse is we didn't get back to town till last night! Went out in this heat and humidity cause we didn't want to settle for a bronze, or nothing at all. Nice little walk. Near the cache site we had a deer for company that was almost tame. Didn't seem concerned about us at all. Were going to take the Pumpkin rattle, but forgot it and took nothing. Left a water pistol. Our 2nd "Road Kill is Grinning" cache.

I found it! 05 Jul 2002    1856 Mule Path  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Braved the thorn apple trees, found the big path, and the little path, as well as the cache. Were a little hesitant to head into the thorny undergrowth where the GPS said it was. Interesting area. Left the golfing Santa and took the pedometer. Our daughter, cyberchemist took the felix cat. We took picture #5. The pix on the history markers showed that canal up on the east side of Letchworth near the current high railroad bridge. We walked that to the Lo and Behold cache. Didn't realize the railroad had replaced the canal. Wonderful how history flows and ties together. Thanks for a nice educational and short cache hunt. Mrmeasure and the Gofer (wife).

I found it! 01 Jul 2002    Low & Behold (Read Warning)  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Mrmeasure and the Gofer (wife) made this the second find of the day, having done Rocky's Hogs Back Vista earlier. Didn't realize how hot it was till we hit the landslide area, where the trees were small and the sun could find us. Also almost no breeze. The railroad bed was pretty pleasant in the shade. Couldn't believe the lack of bugs along the green slime area. Beautiful views of the upper falls. Found it reasonably easy as the GPS put us right on. Took the Golfing Santa and left a Viking Council patch from the Cousin's cache in Minnesota. Thanks for showing us this . Roadkill was grinning, and we were happy but sweating with our quick find. Think we took picture No. 6. Mr and Mrs Measure

I found it! 01 Jul 2002    HOGS BACK VISTAS  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Mrmeasure and the Gofer (wife) had a very special day. Our 50th find, and it was a Rocky cache. Only two Rocky's to go!! Picked the hottest day, but a cool hike. Great views of the gorge. The Gofer found it in about three minutes. Is that luck or skill! It was a great and clever hiding place. Without the Gofer, I might still be looking. Took the pocket knife, and left a valued item from our reknowned white trash collection. A set of dice valve covers for tires. Of course we modeled the Mrs. Rocky hat. Mr and Mrs Measure

I found it! 09 Mar 2002    MOTHER OF ROCKY  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Mrmeasure and Gofer found it! A pretty spot. We were able to drive to within about .1 mile. Took the low path in, and crossed the creek. We added three extra stones so those behind us can walk across without getting wet feet. Spotted the cache from the creek, which gave us an eye level view. An unusal natural formation to say the least. Took the stuffed doll key ring, and left a Twizzler puzzle, a Singapore doller, and a genuine Mr. Measure 6" ruler. Nice goin' Mother of Rocky!

I found it! 07 Mar 2002    The Hatfield's and McCoy's  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Mrmeasure and wife (the gofer) made this the third find of the day in the Erwin Game Mgt. area. Bushwacked from the Deep Pine Forest cache over to Erwin Beaver Pond. Then down the road and bushwacked in from there. A little messy in the woods, but no problem finding it. Coordinates were right on. Lotsa stuff in the can. Took the Lantern Key Chain, and left a yellow golf ball, and a genuine mrmeasure 6 inch plastic ruler of unbelievable accuracy.

Note 07 Mar 2002    Deep Pine Forest Cache  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

Mrmeasure and the Gofer (wife) made this the second find of the day. Didn't have a trail map, so bushwacked about .3 miles till we hit a trail ultimately arriving at the so-called bridge. Cache was not in good shape. No log book. We used a piece of paper left by a previous finder for our log. Not much in the container, probably a result of being spread around. Took nothing, and left a spot clock, a golf ball from the Klipnocky Forest cache and a numbers puzzle from Hobo's Hideaway. The next hunter should take a log book. Now on to the Hatfield and McCoy navicache. Mr and Mrs Measure

Note 28 Feb 2002    ANDREA'S CHARM  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Mrmeasure and the Gofer (wife) added another typical Rocky cache to our list. Beautiful spot, and typical of the locations that Rocky finds. For the first time in over 20 hunts, we lost satellite receotuib abiyt 100 feet from the cache. After three tries at taking the last reading, we could get, and using the compass and pacing it off, we were within 20 feet. Then we tried to think like Rocky, sort of diabolical and deviously, and figured the most likely spot. It was there. Took a doggy eraser, and left a 10 Hong Kong dollar note, a whistle/thermometer/compass, and a skate board key chain from Elk country cache. We loved that little area Rocky. Thanks.

I found it! 27 Feb 2002    Klipnocky State Forest Geocache  ( Difficulty: 4.5    Terrain: 3 )

Mrmeasure and wife (the gofer) found this Rocky chace today. Walked .7 miles, which is a little than some of the previous hunters, but it was just about level all the way, with some logging road and hiking trail availability. This old man couldn't make it up the hill if he tried! Beautiful day, crisp, a few on and off flurries. Saw about 10 deer crashing through the woods ahead of us at various times. Took the spot clock and left some Taiwanese currenty, a 10 NT note, a pocket knife and a 6: ruler.

I found it! 23 Feb 2002    Stony Brook State Park Geocache  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 3 )

Mrmeasure and Gofer and our yellow lab Jake found it with little exertion. Coordinates were right on. When I had 2 feet on the Street Pilot, I looked down and saw the ammo can. Took the campground way in, and did a little sliding and tree grabbing to get to the cache. Nice area. Took the Sorry game key chain, and left a read car, a Singapore dollar and a genuine Mr. Measure 6" ruler. Were in and out in about 20 minutes. Will take the falls way in when the weather is nicer and we have more time. On to Mother of Rocky.

Mrmeasure & Gofer

I found it! 15 Feb 2002    West Pike Fire Tower-USGS Marker Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Mrmeasure and wife, the gofer, have been wanting to do this
cache since mid December, but the road wasn't good enough.
Weather today was perfect. It is a beautiful spot.
Our yellow lab Jake enjoyed the area as well. Drove to
within 11 feet of one marker, and had no trouble finding
both survey markers, nor with the math!! We did have
problems with the coordinates on my Garmin Street Pilot
Color Map. It put me almost 50 foot south of the actual
cache. That's about plus .008 minutes from the calculated
latitude numbers.

Took the Jimmy Buffett tape, even tho we are not official
parrot heads! Left a Singapore Dollar, a stuffed doll
key ring from Mother of Rocky cache, and a camoflage make
up kit. Thanks for a nice hunt and location.

Mr. and Mrs. Measure.
