I found it! 22 Sept 2014    Big Spiders  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

We set off across Norfolk to try and log our first opencaching.uk cache. This was the nearest one to us and we thought we had a good chance of nabbing it as it was a virtual. After parking at the carpark we first of all started on the nearby Terracache but failed to find the second stage. However only slightly detered we carried on around the walk seeing geese, deer sparrowhawk and a large grass snake. Whilst we rounded the fen on our walk I had gathered an idea from the hint of what we might be looking for at the co-ordinates. We arrived at the geozone and I saw a likely object somewhat the worse for wear. But disaster I couldn't see the required number no matter how hard I looked. We scoured the area for other possibilities with no joy. Good job it's a nice place as 2/2 dnfs dosn't look good. More disaster later as we went into Diss to get some lunch and try the Earthcache. One of the waypoints wasn't accessable due to building works. Caching armageddon :(.

On returning home I looked at the photos I had taken while on site in case they would reveal anything. Joy Oh Joy! A magic number appeared on one of them. I would swear that it wasn't visable when we were at the co-ordinates. But who cares if it means you can log the cache :)

Thanks for the cache and a lovely walk. No spiders seen though. Possibly just as well!

Logging on Navicache as well as listed there also. E-mail will be sent to CO

I found it! 16 May 2014    Far From the Madding Crowd (Dorset)  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1.5 )

Heading down to visit my parents there was just enough time to detour very slightly for the two virtuals here. I parked at the recommended parking and walked along the lane to the cottage. Some years ago when we visited there were a couple of very friendly donkeys in the field, one of whom tried to eat Mrs WPB's camera! This evening a couple of ponies were present and plenty of bluebells in the woods. It's always nice to visit anywhere associated with one of my favourite authors. I am a Dorset boy after all. Due to the wonders of the Kindle I am gradually working my way through his novels. Answers e-mailed to the CO. Tftc. Originally logged on geocaching.com and log duplicated here on 11/9/14 having joined Navicache.com
