I found it! 22 May 2004    Hornet's Hide 7 - Fox's Burrow (Herts)  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1 )

Nice quick find, I went on to do some of the other hornet caches nearby.

I found it! 22 May 2004    Hornet's Hide 2 - Whippendell (Herts)  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

Wasn't actually planning to do this when I parked nearby for another cache, but as this was the closest to the parking spot, I did this first instead.

I found it! 22 May 2004    Hornet's Hide - The Return (Herts)  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Did this after #7, which is nearby. GPS decided it wanted to go play somewhere else first, and had to backtrack 100 feet to find the cache.

Note 22 May 2004    Hornet's Hide 4 - High Water (Herts)  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Wish I'd walked to this one from HH1, the drive all the way round seemed to take ages, and it only saved .5 miles walking.

Still, cache is well hidden so took a little while to find

I found it! 22 May 2004    Hornet's Hide 3 - Under Heaven (Herts)  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Another easy one, way able to park quite close to this.

I found it! 30 Apr 2004    Battle of Britain (Surrey)  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

Last of the day, and my Mountain Bike got another and this time unexpected outing. My map shows a public road going straight to the cache, It would seem that road is long gone, and now has a gate across it about .6 of a mile away.

I parked at the end of kenley lane and rode to the cache, partly around the edge of the airfield. I can't make up my mind if the Runway here is active or not, there's a windsock over the far side, but the Runway itself has no markings left and would make a bumpy landing with all the cracks and weeds.

Found the cache pretty easily, TNLC

I found it! 30 Apr 2004    Gnome Geo Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

A good fun cache to start the day, though a little disheartening when reaching the top of the hill and looking down towards the hiding spot.

I found it! 23 Apr 2004    Penton Hook Island  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Easy enough to find, and a cool little area for a cache. There are so many potential cache places here.

Whilst searching I found a little hidey hole that appears to be used by homeless persons as a shelter, it had a seating area and a sleeping area.

I found it! 12 Apr 2004    Ob-scure  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Simple enough to find, this was the last one of the day.

I found it! 10 Apr 2004    The Queens Oak  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Found Today as part of Marathon Caching Trip to the area. TNLNSL, TFTC

PS cache was easily visible from path so I hid it a little better.

I found it! 06 Apr 2004    Farthing Downs (Surrey)  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2.5 )

15:00

An easy find, with a nice gentle walk to the cache. RAin started just as I opened the logbook and just as I was getting to the car at the top of the hill, the lightning started!

Great to see these open spaces preserved within the M25. Technically I am the first to find for Navicache, but this is a dual listed cache. Took Bunny, Left Crane.

I found it! 05 Apr 2004    Glebe Pond (Surrey)  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

16:30 #5 of 6 Today

Had a bit of trouble finding the best place to park to go after this, I really must get in the habit of reading the page properly.

GPS was wandering, so took a little time to find, eventually finding it by instinct. TNLNSL

Note 28 Dec 2003    The View from Reigate Hill  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

was going to do this while doing inclined to be nervous, but the co-ords posted would appear to be in the middle of a field next to the M25 and nowhere near the car park in the description. so just a note, to check the co-ords are correct, or should they be an objet near the car park with the view from reigate hill?

I found it! 24 Dec 2003    Inclined to be Nervous  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

Found this as I'd given up searching and started to head up to the car park. good location, took giraffe, left golfball & batteries. noted several log entries, but I seem to be the first to post my log.

If anyone is planning to take the direct route, start from the end of the car park by the toilets, as the other end needs a lot of climbing through the trees.
