I found it! 10 Apr 2002    Discombobulated Universe (retired)  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

Went caching with three friends in this beautiful park. Loved the trails leading back toward the cache but didn't know enough to stay on them. We got into some pretty thick places along the deer runs before coming out near the old well. Once we were in the area it was quite easy to find the cache. My GPS 76 read 6.2 feet when I spotted it. Left the usual notes in the log book and took a picture of the group. I left a dog leash and took nothing. Thanks, Rojar61

I found it! 10 Apr 2002    MOTHER-IN-LAWS WALK  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Checked out this second cache in the park with three friends today. Two of us left the other cache and decided to go through the woods rather than follow the path. The other two followed the path and came close to the cache site first. My friend "mud" and I could see them milling around the area as we came in from another direction. Of course they would not tell us that they had spotted the cache. Actually the one who did spot it first didn't have a GPS so we all had a good laugh over that beginners luck. He also paid for it with wet shoes and a torn shirt but said it was worth it. We took a picture, signed the log. I left a calculator and took nothing. Nice park and hiding spot, it was a fun and good exercise going in and out. Rojar61

I found it! 28 Mar 2002    Webster 2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

What a wonderful day for a hike in the park. The ground was a little soggy in the low spots but it was warm and sunny, in the 50's temp. wise. Locating this one was no problem except that I walked past it once going up hill. As soon as I realized this I took another path down and found it. The cache is in great shape with lots of goodies. I made a note in the lob, took a picture. Took the All Star Baseball CD and left some Georges as well as a combo lint brush and shoehorn. Thanks Gimpy!

I found it! 18 Mar 2002    Egyptian Hike  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Went on this hike with two geocache friends Mar. 13th. Fred armed with his trusty Magellan and this guy "circles" (for the direction he always goes in). The farther we went on this one the more we feared we would need hip boots until we came to the turning point. The only other challenge was the small stream we had to cross when we neared the chache. It was very funny, after we crossed the stream we all split up and zeroed in from different directions and yet all three spotted the cache at the same time.
We all signed the book, took a picture and left a token as well as a flashlight. We took nothing and replaced the cache where we found it. This was a fun event on a cool but sunny day. Thanks Gimpy

I found it! 17 Mar 2002    An 'Erie' Place  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

After one mistake going up the middle me and my friend got on the proper trail that led us very close to the cache. I feel that this was one of the most accurate locations that I have seen so far but also one of the best concealed once you get there.
I signed the book, took a picture and exchanged a calculator for the measuring spoons. I also took down the serial numbers of the “Where’s George Bills” just to see where they came from but didn’t get the series. Next time I will know better. A fun hike on a cold day.

I found it! 27 Jan 2002    Brodies Box  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Three of us newbe's set out to find this one armed with two GPS units. We were only about an hour from park lockdown but made our way along the slippery trails. At one point it was more like a cross country ski than a hike due to the muddy trails. One of my companions had my GPS and led me up one side and down the other but finally settled on one area with a shout of “it’s gotta be right in here somewhere” He was right, after a little careful looking we spotted the cache. We all signed the log, took a picture, left some things like ear plugs and other. We took the hand exerciser. On the way out we decided to name our leader on this cache “circles” for obvious reasons. All in all it was a wonderful day for a hike, we got out just before the gate was closed and we now have “hooked” a couple of new cachers.

I found it! 27 Jan 2002    1K Sanctuary  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

This was a nice walk with a lifelong friend and prospective cacher on his birthday. Our wives went to do some shopping (their loss) while we made the search. The weather was warm, about 45 deg. and no bugs were flying. Armed with my trusty GPS I made my way toward the cache as I tried to explain it's workings to my pal. When I neared the general area I made a couple of circles trying to zero in the location while the "birthday boy" stood watching me from a distance and I would bet wondering if I had the faintest idea of what I was doing. Just as I was about to reverse directions I heard my friend say “here it is”. He had stopped to blow his nose which caused him to look in the right direction at just the right moment. Being an experienced hunter with a keen eye for details I am sure helped. We signed the log, recorded our visit with a picture, left an token and took nothing. From now on I’ll call him “eagle eye” when we go caching.
