CACHE LOGS - May contain hints(spoilers)!   decode

I found it! 31 Mar 2005    YAPIDKA #6  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

I'd accidentally arrived at the nearby T&C fields about an hour early for a softball game this evening. I was going to hang out at Half Price Books for a while until I realized I had my GPSr with me! I knocked out 3 caches in the hour and got back to the fields in time to get the word that the games had been called for lightning. Oh well, at least I got to go caching today!

I found this cache with little problem. This is probably due to the way that a TB that seemed to be too big for the cache was hanging out of it. I rescued the TB and closed the cache before the rains. Sorry, I didn't leave anything other than a signature.

Note 03 Nov 2004    Tesoros Ocultados  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

Well, I guess that does it for this cache. I've grown tired of the flooding, rats, poison ivy, spiders, debris, etc. that have plagued this location. Perhaps there is a better location for a cache in this park, but I haven't found it yet.

Thanks to all who ventured out to seek it. I've enjoyed reading the logs.

I'll pick up the container soon.

I found it! 24 Sept 2004    Bull Creek Overlook  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 4 )

N 30° 22.058 W 097° 46.948

I've been wanting to get to this one since before the Hot Potato Game got Whiteshark and Evermore out here. I can't beleive they accomplished this one in the dark! There's no way I'd recomend that. The coords seemed just a teeny bit off (No bruises, scrapes, or cuts for me this time. I enjoyed the challenge!

I found it! 29 May 2004    B.C.M.U.D. #2 – “Duck Pond” Gone Virtual  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 2 )

I appear to have been on the heels of Lanetamer for at least two caches this morning. This was one of 'em. The ducks paid no attention to me. A few joggers and walkers gave me wide berth though. Must have been the backpack.

I found it! 09 May 2004    VIP IN A SMALL TOWN  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Picked this up on the way back from Granger Lake. Thanks for the cache!

Note 15 Mar 2004    Secret Circuits  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 2 )

Austin Explorer and Coppertone notified me that they found the cache to be ransacked on March 7, 2004. I verified that it was missing on March 8.

I found it! 29 Dec 2003    Deadwood  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2 )

Evermore was the first finder. We were there together, but he found it first. I saw this cache listing last night and couldn't believe it had lasted over 20 days without a finder. Thanks for the cache!

I found it! 05 Dec 2003    Elements of Confusion  ( Difficulty: 5    Terrain: 4 )

I finished the chemistry exam on 12/1/03. I carefully mixed the elements together and offered the resulting mixture to my GPSr. It drank it all and then, in a very intoxicated manner, led me to a locked gate on the morning of 12/2/03. 'Go in! Go in! You'll be first to find!' it said. Recognizing the symptoms of FTF fever, or a possible bad trip, I talked it down. Later that day I heard about lowracer's new 'winter formula' in the Central Texas Geocachers group on Yahoo. I re-mixed the elements according to his new formula and fed the resulting precipitate into my GPSr today. This time, the GPSr transported BubblesPPG and I to a place where we were welcomed by an open gate with no gatekeeper. Ahh, this feels right.
Thanks for the fun!

I found it! 05 Dec 2003    Elements of Confusion  ( Difficulty: 5    Terrain: 4 )

I answered the bonus question too. One of the few things I still remember.

I found it! 11 Nov 2003    The Magic of Mathematical Machines  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Visited with BubblesPPG at 3:44PM. Bubbles found the cache's hiding spot. I'm very proud of her for deciding to go caching with her dad instead of watching cartoons this afternoon! We found an old basketball, an old aluminum bat, and a piece of an old "home for sale" sign on our way in. We trashed those things out.

Thanks for the new cache and getting us out to this end of the trails lowracer!

Note 05 Nov 2003    Noctis Labyrinthus  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4 )

There is a place out there that is dear to BubblesPPG and I. Her special place: Bubbles' Pool. You can find it by listening for the water that drains into it. It's right next to the trail about half way between the last of the first batch of amber reflectors and first of the second batch of red reflectors.

I found it! 04 Nov 2003    Noctis Labyrinthus  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4 )

WooHoo! FTF on lowracer's latest night cache!

I saw the pre-approved listing (no details, it just says: pending approval) on navicache this afternoon. I figured it might be listed after I picked up The Queen of Everything from work and we had our supper. Sure enough it was. I walked from my house to the trailhead at 7:30 PM. That's when I knew I was in trouble. After 15 minutes of looking for the first redirector, I called lowracer on his geocaching hotline. He proceeded to tell me right where to look for it. Even with his hint it took another 30 minutes for me to find it. Lowracer came over to choose a redirector location that might be a little easier. We left the old one up. See if you can find it too.

I located the rest of the redirectors while lowracer looked on, and I found the final cache location quickly with no hints.

My GPSr says we walked 2.3 miles on the trails tonight.

I found it! 27 Oct 2003    Big O and Tiny E's secret cache  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

Another night cache! This one was much easier than Charlie's Greenbelt Cache last night. No rain! Had to use the hints to find the cache. Did a pretty systematic search until it gave up its hiding spot.

4th of 4 caches with Evermore, his wife and all our kids today. What an impressive formation! The kids thought it was cool. We signed on the front of the last page of the logbook. All the back sides are still blank. The container may need some more cammo. Some of it is flaking off. Thanks for bringing us here!

I found it! 11 Oct 2003    Dubble Bubble  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 3 )

3rd of 4 caches with Evermore, his wife and all our kids today. I found the cache in a most unusual way. Right after Evermore threw my compass off a cliff and went straight over the edge to go get it for me, I noticed his daughter getting a little too close to another part of the cliff. She was gesturing at something I should look at. I wandered over to see what it was. It was a little trail that might make it easy for descending. Clever girl! I went down the trail on my way to help retrieve the compass, and ran right into the cache. If Evermore hadn't thrown my compass over, and she hadn't found the trail, we'd have looked a long time.
Thanks for the adventure!

I checked on the cache at 9:01AM this morning and it's still where I put it. I also checked the posted coordinates with MapQuest, and they look good.

Note 10 Sept 2003    Rolling Blackout  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1 )

The cache is now at: N30°22.011', W97°44.652'.

I had to move it so my lame-o-meter rating wouldn't be too high. (Say, what is the scale on the lame-o-meter? 1-5 with 5 being the highest? How about 5 minus the integer part of: 1 over the WOW-o-meter rating?)

I found it! 09 Sept 2003    Rolling Blackout  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1 )

Well, I can't believe it lasted over night! I was very tempted to go for it at 10:00PM last night, but I waited and picked up LR0001 at 7:50AM on 9/9/2003. One of the neat things about these roving caches is that a muggle can see you grab it, and since it moves, it does not really matter. There were lots of muggles about this morning, but I don't think anyone saw me grab it. I'll be placing it this evening.

Took the trail I discovered near NTGA Leftovers to within a few hundred feet of the cache. Bushwhacked around in the dead cedar branches a while until I found it. Found my way back to the parking lot, but wasn't sure I was going the right way due to a slightly confused muggle (who had just walked around the loop) telling me it was the other direction. Thanks for the adventure!

I found it! 20 Jul 2003    Thigh's A'Burnin! - Starnes Expedition 2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 5 )

Attended the event with The Queen of Everything. This is our first navicache find! Peripatetic was the first finder for the event cache. We quickly identified him as a geocacher at the boat ramp because he was carrying a GPSr. We'd have tried to hitch a ride for Starnes with an outgoing boating party, but everyone was comming in from the lake at 7:00. Peripatetic went off to do some local geocaches, and The Queen and I stayed for a nice swim. The water temperature was perfect!

I found it! 19 Jun 2003    Electromagnetic Fields Forever  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

Well, the 5th time's the charm (see the logs for 6/11, 6/11, 5/5, and 1/20/2003). It might have taken 6 or more times if we had not run into Suchmann out there. BubblesPPG and I saw him as he was searching for redirector #1 and introduced ourselves as we passed by on our way to #2 (the real one). We found redirector #2 with no problems. Suchmann passed us there. We took a different route to #3 and met up with him again as we were hunting that one. Redirector #3 was to be our last destination today. Bubbles was tired. We never did find #3. My GPSr was acting weird in the presence of those EM fields. I asked Suchmann to tell me which way his GPSr thought it was. He said 54' THIS way. Mine said .2mi, and 180 degrees the OTHER way. I asked if we could tag along since his GPSr had a fix. When we got to the redirector I found out why there was such a large discrepancy: I thought he was still on #3, but that was not the case. He had gotten way ahead of us and was in route to the last redirector. Bubbles and I decided to just finish the cache today (Mr. Hot Potato Head TB has been sitting in our territory a long time!) and we all went to the cache together. I saw the hiding place first. Bubbles saw the cache first.

My Father's Day wish was fulfilled when the family and I headed out to start "Night's Plutonian Shore" at 10:15 this evening. The moon was not up yet. We had no trouble at all. Found waypoint/redirector #1 again. Couldn't find waypoint #2. I sent lowracer an e-mail to see if I was looking in the right spot.

Note 11 Jun 2003    Electromagnetic Fields Forever  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

I went for the cache, and all I got was this lousy rock! :) Lowracer got back with me later this afternoon. It turns out that what I thought was waypoint/redirector #1 actually was waypoint #1. The only problem was that it was from the previous cache leg layout. He said he pitched the old redirector as far away as he could. I returned before supper to pick up the old rock as a souvenir and look for the new redirector. I found the new one 15 feet away from the first one. The old one was pretty big, and I don’t think I could have thrown it much farther. :D I didn’t go for the next waypoint/redirector but I’m going to come back to finish the hunt pretty soon.

See my log entries for 1/20/2003 and 5/5/2003 for more on my connection to this rock.

We were camping in the park this weekend and thought we'd at least get started on this one.

We found waypoint #1 on 5/25 as it was getting close to suppertime. We saw a very fuzzy, shy, nocturnal creature living near the waypoint. Rumbly tummies and hope for an evening swim cut our hunting short.

We returned this afternoon after breaking camp. We didn't find waypoint #2 today before our tummies got rumbly again, but we'll be back soon enough.

Nice area. We didn't see anyone on the trails even on this busy Memorial Day Weekend. We did see some horse tracks though.

I found it! 11 May 2003    Schoolhouse Rock  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Finally bagged this one. We parked at the school and walked up the sidewalk on the West side of the street. We carried water bottles to not look so conspicuous, and waited for the traffic to clear before pulling the cache from it's hiding spot. I swear I saw someone pull the cache at this very spot before I ever knew what geocaching was. _What the heck are those people doing?_ We sat in the shade of a nearby tree while going through the ammo can, and making our log entry. We replaced the cache when the coast was clear.

We passed the test, but didn't get the bonus point. After hearing of Lowracer's recent deposit, I had to finish the puzzle. I took the info I did find while searching for Waypoint #1 yesterday, and used it to find the remaining waypoints and cache coordinates. I'm going to get that bonus point eventually though.

Cache coordinates in hand, my daughter and I visited the cache after school today. We hunted and hunted! There are so many hiding places there! She found it first. She's a natural. Well hidden Lowracer!

I went back home to check for the description of the benchmark. Turns out I was looking for the right kind of thing, but must have missed it. I think I saw the DANGER sign, but won't be sure until I see the BM. Will try again soon.

I found it! 15 Apr 2003    Low Water Rock -n- Roll Party!  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

Our first cache!

My step-daughter and I visited the Low Water Rock-n-Roll Party cache today. We had been hiking in the area a few months ago and walked right by it. At the time, I was trying to drum up interest in finding stuff along the shore while the water level was low. I said we were looking for treasure. She wasn't convinced that walking along a half mile or so of stinky shoreline was fun though. After discovering Geocaching on the internet, and realizing the location of this cache was close to where we were that one day, I thought I'd try again. She was thrilled when we found it.

We left an AT&T Wireless / Round Rock Express commemorative keychain.

She took the Super Star necklace.

I found it! 15 Apr 2003    The Mystery on Hancock Hill  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Took nothing, left nothing.

Note 22 Jan 2003    Low Water Rock -n- Roll Party!  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

I found this cache before I knew what geocaching was. I was out exploring the low water crossing area, thinking about the making of the huge construction nearby, and saw the hinge of the ammo can peeking out from its hiding place. What is that? I moved closer and uncovered it enough to see the words: "Do Not Disturb" and "Official Game Piece". Having run across the first redirector for Electromagnetic Fields Forever (GCAEB3) in the woods two days previously led me to believe that there was some kind of GPS game going on here. I did not open the cache (those words worked pretty well) and I nearly forgot about the whole incident until I found the GCAEB3 waypoint again on 5/5/03 and it all came back.

Thanks lowracer!

Note 20 Jan 2003    Electromagnetic Fields Forever  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

Well, I wasn’t hunting the cache, so I can’t say I didn’t find it. In fact I didn’t know what geocaching was at the time. I was out hiking and exploring the trails with BubblesPPG on this day and found waypoint/redirector #1. This is the old one I grabbed (with permission) as a souvenir on 6/11/2003. I knew I’d found a waypoint, and shouldn’t disturb it, but did not have any way to record the coordinates at the time. I figured that maybe, I’d go back and check it out again. It did pique my interest though. _Something’s afoot at the Circle K!_ Then, two days later I stumbled into the Low Water Rock-n-Roll Party (GC97EF) cache. I figured this rock and the cache I found were related, but still didn’t have the whole picture on these strange goings on in the woods until 4/15/2003 when I saw someone mention the sport in reply to a WTB for a GPSr in the austin.forsale newsgroup. Then it all clicked, I knew this thing was for me, and I was hooked!

Thanks lowracer!
