I found it! 04 Jun 2004    I Heard it on the Grapevine  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Success on the 2nd try! Walked right to it today (lucky). Left a "Solar Power" button, and dropped off the "Antz in the Pants" TB.

I found it! 04 Jun 2004    Deer Crossing  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

A wonderful walk along the trails and oh, there4 sure are a lot of possible hiding spots here! Found it eventually. The log book is almost full. Left an american flag, took nothing. Bushwacked my way out (is that a little backwards?)

I found it! 04 Jun 2004    Isabel's Part 1 of 2  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Found her, Had a nice visit with her and her friends.

I found it! 04 Jun 2004    Isabel's Treasure Part 2 of 2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

A great cache for #50! The numbers worked fine. My thanks to ScouterMark for his gift in the cache. Left an american flag.

I found it! 04 Jun 2004    The Old Boneyard  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

A great spot! I love the history of the area. A great walk to end the day 5 for 5. Left an american flag and took a bone treat for my dog, he can't make the trip anymore but he sure appreciated the treat.

I found it! 22 May 2004    Joannes Trek  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

As the GPSr counted down we used the two-pronged attack to surround the cache and Ginny was the first to spot it. The cache is sitting curiously out in the open but not really visible from the trail. As we began to look over the log, we heard our car alarm go off! Just Evan getting out to join us and setting it off but in our haste to get back I forgot to leave anything! Sorry. Took the Collared Lizard stuffed animal and I am thinking of making a TB out of him and sending him off to visit the desert southwest where his relatives live. 2 of 2 for the day. Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 22 May 2004    Wadham's Walk  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

Quick and easy find in a park I haven't visited in twenty years! Beautiful spot. TNLNSL

I found it! 15 May 2004    Honey Creek  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

Squeezed this cache in between bouts of rain and after my sons lacrosse game. Ginny and I wandered a bit up the hil before settling on the cache area. TNLNSL. I haven't been to this area since the 80's when we used to catch some nice salmon here. Thanks for the return trip.

Note 31 Mar 2004    MC-Square  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

Found this one on the edge of darkness with A46r and tons of deer around. Almost missed it in the clever hiding spot. Left PEZ and took Cache in/Trash out bag.

I found it! 08 Oct 2003    Highpoint  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

My son Evan and I arrived at the park around 5:30 and spent some time admiring the view from the overlook north over Honeoye Lake and all the way to the Rochester skyline. What an incredible "Indian Summer" day. I explained to Evan that it was on this same bench 13 years ago that I had asked his mom to marry me, and it really was just as nice a day then as it was on this day! OK, to be completely honest, the mosquitos drove us away after a quick lunch on that day.
Anyhow, out we headed on the trails to find the cache and after a beautiful walk through the woods(along the trails to within one hundred yards of the cache). Evan spotted the cache while I was staring at the GPS going,"Hey, we're at 0.00!" That's becoming a familiar story with us. Traded a soccer ball cell phone stand and an American flag for the golf balls and a Where's George $ bill.
I visit this park a few times every winter on cross-country ski trips and have forgotten how beautiful it can be in the early fall also. No bugs and a gorgeous day. Perfect!

I found it! 05 Oct 2003    1856 Mule Path  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

After spending the afternoon picking apples at a farm west of the park we swung around the south end of Letchworth and headed up the east side of the gorge. We were really not prepared to go cache hunting but we just couldn't pass up the opportunity.
We "huffed and puffed" our way up while little Evan flew up the hill. Not having paid any attention to the info other than the coordinates, I'm not sure we came in the right way but we did find ourselves in the cache area soon. twenty minutes later, we were about to give up and head out when I looked over (one more time) an area previously searched and HURRAY!! Found it.
Evan chose the brooch (he wants to wear it while playing Lord of the Rings) and we left two nice items, a Geocaching Story VHS tape taken from "Journalist's cache, 'tween Dysfunction and a Fall" in the adirondacks. After you have viewed the tape, please log on to the original cache site and let Mike know where it has moved on to (you take it to a new cache, like a travel bug). The other item is a CD of geocaching radio shows taken originally from a cache in W. Virginia by A46r. I thought these items would be of interest to all the cachers who will be attending the gathering coming up this weekend.
We left the cache in good condition and headed out to the car just as the sun was setting over the hills. A great addition to the day. Thanks for sending us there.

I found it! 07 Aug 2003    Gibsonville Doublet  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 2.5 )

Our second find of the day. Traveling with A46er and a few friends new to the sport. We had an absolute blast with this one, stopping at every foundation and bit of scenery we found. Dave M found the first part and Phil found the second. I think they are hooked. Traded AA batteries for swim goggles. Afterwards we all went for a swim at the double falls. A great day for it! This was a great cache.

I found it! 07 Aug 2003    What's the Point  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1 )

#3 on the day with A46er and friends who are by now researching and purchasing GPS units of their own! Fun walk to the views and actually a little wandering was required as the signals became confused in the woods with a storm blowing by but we did find it (A46er). Traded tire gauge and two state quarters for tape measure. Thanks Roadkil, it was a fun alternative to swamping our canoes on the river this day.

I found it! 03 Aug 2003    No Mans Land  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2.5 )

We were on our way home to Livonia from Ginny's 20 yr high school reunion at Lowville and decided to make this our last cache of the weekend. Ginny grew up on the edge of Tug Hill on a dairy farm and had spent a lot of time exploring the area on snowmobiles so we navigated the back roads (some just barely roads, mostly dirt and large rocks)to the area of the cache. When we parked the car, we were swarmed by deer flies! After bathing in bug dope, we ventured out and worked our way slowly through the brush and into the woods, surrounded by flies but not bitten. The woods were another matter. Clouds of mosquitoes flew up to meet us and paid absolutely no attention to the bug spray. After about ten minutes of trying to ignore the skeeters and pay attention to the GPS, the distance fell to zero and our son Evan shouted out his discovery (he usually beats me to it). We were surprised to find that we seemed to be the first visitors to this cache. I thought maybe a new journal had been left but then when I saw the camera had not yet been used I realized that we must be the first, fitting for a cache in "No Mans Land". Our first "first find"! Traded a pair of batteries for the Silly Putty. Oh yes, don't try to continue SE on the road the cache is off from as it ends at a gate a few miles down. We saw a beautiful Great-Horned Owl twicw along a creek down the road from the cache. Thanks for leading us through such a beautiful area.

I found it! 04 Jul 2003    INSPIRATION POINT GEOCACHE  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Third times a charm! First try ended in darkness, second occured while cache was missing in action and then on the holiday, my wife (Ginny), son (Evan), nephew (Andrew) and myself biked in and found it quickly. The day was still beautiful so we lingered at the point for a good hour, resisting the temptation to take a dip in the lake as this is prohibited. Then decided to head over to Canadice for another.
Rocky, thanks for the correspondence and extra work to replace the vandalized cache.

I found it! 16 Jun 2003    Lions, Tigers And Bears...Oh My!  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

O.K., we found this a year ago when Evan was finishing third grade... and today he is finishing fourth grade! I'm just a little slow getting around to logging it. I remember now, I can't get the pictures to load (too big of a file). Oh no!

Note 04 Jun 2003    HEMLOCK LAKE PARK GEOCACHE  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

We headed for the park after dinner and found the first part quickly enough but the area of the second part was a combination of underwater and covered in poison ivy so we spent little time searching only a limited area with no luck. Looks like we'll have to venture back when it dries out. The cloud cover was making my GPS very jittery also. Still, a very nice night for a walk in a park I am very familiar with.

I couldn 01 Jun 2003    INSPIRATION POINT GEOCACHE  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

The three of us first set out to find the Tally-ho Tour cache but after we met up with a couple who had been looking for the first part cache for over an hour without any luck we didn't spend much time there. Is it possible that it has gone missing? We thought we would jump over to find the Inspiration pt. cache but that didn't work out either. I know that one is there because my friends found it a few days before. The real problem was the darkness. We set out from the parking spot at 8:45 and it was way too dark to find anything by the time we were at the point. It WAS a beautiful night for a walk and bright enough starlight that we didn't need the flashlight to find our way out (about 10:00). All in all, a great trip and we'll go back soon to find it.

I found it! 26 May 2003    SAND POINT GEOCACHE  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

My first cache find/attempt. An absolutely beautiful evening and only 1.5 mile from my home. The ducks were very tolerant of our activities and my wife found the container after my son and I both looked right at it and missed it. Anyways, a great start to a new family-fun activity. Oh yeah, I had talked with a friend of mine about geocaching this afternoon and he went home, logged on and got to the cache 15 minutes before we did! I guess that makes two families who are hooked.
