I found it! 20 Sept 2004    Cash is King  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

Ah, good cache and hide. Found first with no difficulty, second a bit trickier, but that is due to my bad GPS, and third...wow, I was actually going to hide a cache here for about a year, but never got around to it...in that exact spot. Too lazy, glad it got used! Cool theme too, and fun cache container. I left a couple south african coins, and took a lucky irish penny. Thanks for a fun one...liked your waypoints markers... grrrrr.....jackbear

I found it! 20 Sept 2004    I'm a Chile Screwball  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Found this one on second try with hint from Chilehead. Did it in darkness on cool night so muggles wouldn't be so many. Cool spot, walk by it all the time from home. Will be fun to watch other now try to find it as I watch from a comfy chair nearby. heeeheee

I couldn 27 Jan 2004    Ghost's Revenge!  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Well, it certainly wasn't because we were in the wrong spot. We had the right spot, but GPS wasn't giving us great accuracy with the hills here I suspect. The two feet of snow that the cache was buried under didn't help either. We got lucky on Ghost's Domain, but the Revenge got us. No find, but had fun trying. Thanks.

I found it! 24 Jan 2004    Ghost's Domain  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

Well, it was a cold day (teens) but it felt warm snowshoeing throught the hills and dales of Durand Eastman. Lake was frozen good, several inches, a few ice fisherman. Lots of skiiers. And two feet of snow! It was wonderful! Took by buddy Dominator on this hike with his new Garmin he got for Christmas. We had little difficulty finding the spot, but had a little more trouble digging in two feet of snow. I really just got lucky and hit it with my walking stick. Great cache, great location, great goodies. We took the Rambo dogtags and the signature item by the Fare (Face?), and left some pyrite, round tuit, and a frog. Thanks Quinn for getting it all started here. grr.....jackbear.

I found it! 13 Oct 2003    Genesee Valley Park I (ARCHIVED)  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1 )

Beautiful autumn day in GVP. Still lots of poison ivy in the area though depending on which way you approach this cache. Don't know if Dvand saw me, but I saw them at the cache, and waited until they left to log in. Got coords to second part, but after a couple of failed attempts and a locked gate, waning light...I decided to put it off for another attempt later.

I found it! 08 Jul 2003    On Top of an Esker  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

Cool hidden place, this trail is. Tried it several months ago, couldn't find the trailhead. Got a map online, and figured it out. Then my buddy Dom and I decided to stick to the trails, and we circled around this for awhile. Finally committed to getting closer, and found it as avertised. It was a beautiful spot and a good challenge. We took the last picture on the camera! We ate some smarties, and left Checkers the travel bug, who wants to go somewhere hot and dry. Thanks for an adventure....lots of p.i. people, watch were you step!

I found it! 19 May 2003    Sleepy Hollow  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

Did some fishing here, but had not bites, but lost a lure...the price of fishing. Great park, and lovely stream. Worth every minute. I took the sunscreen and left an arrowhead. Took a picture on camera (8 or 9 I think). Thanks for the fun. grrrrrrrr..... jackbear

I found it! 03 May 2003    Happy Cache (ARCHIVED)  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

Another fine letterbox hybrid junglehair. Nice spot, I walked by it half a dozen times. Lots of great spots to hide around there. Like the stamps. Thanks for a fun one, and congrats on 100+ grrrrrrrrrr...... jackbear

I found it! 16 Apr 2003    Gimpys Linear  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

First of three today. Did a little fishing while I was here, but no bites. Lovely day, lovely park. Took nothing, left nothing...thanks for a great hide. grrrrrrrr.... jackbear

I found it! 06 Apr 2003    Hogan's Hero's  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

Well, this was a pleasant surprise. I great location, a cache full of interesting things, and in a spot I have never been to before. There was a big ice storm the day before, but everything was in order here. I took the pencil sharpener (I really needed it, great!), and left Jefferson Memorial enamel pin. Thanks for a great cache. jackbear

I found it! 22 Mar 2003    Cobb's Hill Cache (ARCHIVED)  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 3.5 )

Wasn't sure if I was going to make it to this one, a City of Rochester car and security guard was blocking the road up to the resevoir, presumably due to the war, and high terror alert. I work my way around the part though, and accessed the box from below the slope. Cache was in good shape. Took print of stamp, left personal print of stamp. My first letterbox hybrid! Thanks junglehair.

I found it! 04 Mar 2003    Global Geocache (ARCHIVED)  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Neat little park, great stands of beech trees. The crows last night were rooking up, and they are noisy as twilight sets in. No problem finding cache, it was in great condition. Didn't expect to see travel bugs...but there they were. I left some coins from South Africa, and pyrite from Peru (Its global afterall!). Took Geo's coin, and a cananda pin. Also grabbed Old Glory travel bug to move along its way...Thanks for a very well stocked cache junglehair!

I found it! 25 Jan 2003    Sams Surprise  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

It was a balmy 20 degrees F in Rochester on Saturday morning when I found it. I loved it though, a beautiful morning of snowhoeing and geocaching. I saw a red-tailed hawk and a couple northern shrikes on my way to the cache. Went around in circles a bit, but not too long. Had to dig in about a foot of snow, but I was not beaten on this day. I took the Goodtimes 2.0 CD and left the Croc Hunter's Cards. Also took Mike Bugowski on his way to another nearby cache! -jackbear-

I found it! 18 Jan 2003    Locke of Olde Cache  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2 )

MY FIRST CACHE EVER! Found it on my second attempt (see entry from two weeks ago) Learned an important lesson about datum. It was about 15 degrees out, and buried in about a foot of snow. It took awhile I will admitt, but I thought I was getting close, and persisted. Scared a rabbit out of hiding in my searching. Finally my foot hit something hollow, and EUREKA! I left a piece of black obsidian rock and a black walnut chewed open by a flying squirrel found nearby. I took the golfball. Thanks Gimpy for a great cache, love the lock! -jackbear-

I couldn 11 Jan 2003    Locke of Olde Cache  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2 )

Well, I didn't find it, but I know why...
1) I am a first-timer 2) I didn't bring a compass or a map 3) I have an old GPS with a not-so-good navigation system 4)the snow was rather thick, and very crusty. However, I am not frustrated, rather determined to try again. I had a beautifully cold Rochester winter afternoon, with not another sole around. I saw a Carolina Wren, and lots of black walnuts chewed open by flying squirrels. Can't wait to get back there again.
