Note 12 Jun 2004    Northhampton Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1 )

I was out there Sunday for another cache and I'm pretty sure this is gone.

I took the long way in the first time and then went in from the other side and still didn't see it.

I'm pretty sure I was at the right tree but it's been a while since I found it the first time.

Note 21 Apr 2004    Henpecked  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Went out tonight before the storm and found everything right where I left it last fall.

Due to continued degradation of the hiding spot for waypoint two, it has been retired. It was hidden under a small boulder (or big rock, depending on your frame of reference) which was resting on top of a stump in the middle of a small stream. I have no idea how it got up there. The rock is in the creek now and the stump is rotting away so it's not as cool as it was.

Even with all the cloud cover and electrical activity, the sportrak had me within 15 to 20 feet of all waypoints.

I adjusted their positions slightly to make them a touch easier to find. They are still at the same coords but hidden just a bit differently. Please make sure to conceal them well since there is a lot of traffic here.

Good luck!

I found it! 03 Jan 2004    Trey's Cache  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

Found this in January but way behind in logs....

Took nothing, left a pack of hockey cards.

Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 03 Jan 2004    Lupin's Treasure  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

I'm a bit behind in logs....

Found this on January 3rd. It was 60 degrees and very wet.

Took nothing, left nothing. The cache is very full.

Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 03 Jan 2004    Blackjack Barge Cache  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

Found this one 1/3/04.

I briefly thought about taking the direct route but decided against it and took the back way in.

I ended up snapping my bamboo hiking stick when I slipped on the rocks on the side of the canal.

We may be back in spring to see how the fishing is in this hole.

Thanks for the hide!

Note 02 Jan 2004    Cache Jubilee  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 3 )

As the recent adoptive owner of this cache I wanted to start the year off right by doing a little maintenance.

I removed some trash and it is ready to go.

Thanks again to Upinyachit for originally placing this cache and remembering to make provisions for keeping it up after their move.

Note 02 Jan 2004    Casey's "The Steve Irwin Experience" Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

As the recent adoptive owner of this cache I wanted to start the year off right by doing a little maintenance.

Thanks again to Upinyachit for originally placing this cache and remembering to make provisions for keeping it up after their move.

I found it! 28 Dec 2003    The Old Farm  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 3 )

Apparently this was the place to be today!

I didn't actually think I'd be first since it had been out there 2 days already but there were no logs and I had to go by it to get to work soooo....

There were a bunch of logs in the book by the time I got there. I saw a couple suspicious people holding suspicious printouts in the parking lot but didn't see a GPSr so I'm not really sure what they were doing there.

I bushwacked in from the top of the ski hill. I like going off trail in this park as often as possible since I hunt mushrooms here in the fall and deer sheds in the spring.

I came across a large fairy ring of puffballs and spent some time spreading the spores around to set up next year's crop. (The technical term for this is "kicking..."

I picked up the travel bug and left a poncho.

Thanks for the fun hide.

Note 28 Dec 2003    Nor Any Drop To Drink  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2.5 )

I was out caching today and decided to check to see if this was still possible to reach without getting wet after all the rain and snow melt. I am pleased to say it is still possible as long as you choose your route carefully. I didn't even get my toes damp.
For those having trouble, pay attention to the name and what the mariner's lament was when he uttered it. All the waypoints are fixed objects and they are all part of the theme.

The cache is full and still has two travel bugs.

Good luck.

I found it! 21 Nov 2003    Halloween Treats, No Tricks  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

I'm way behind in my logs....

Found this one on 11/21/03.

Took 0, left 0.

I found it! 12 Nov 2003    Along Oatka Trail  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 2 )

There were lots of gunshots across the creek when I found this.

Took nothing, Left nothing.

I saw several pheasants on the way out - at least two cocks and one hen.

Nice hide.

I found it! 30 Oct 2003    A Hawks View  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

Found this one after dark. I loved the nice soft trails with 10 inches of new mulch.

Took cd, left gloves, hand warmer, CITO container and some other stuff.

It was a great moonlit night = perfect for the hike out!

Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 23 Oct 2003    Cartoon Cache  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

Nice walk in the open woods. It's nice to be able to get off a trail and walk unimpeded by undergrowth once in a while.
Took nothing and left nothing.

Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 08 Oct 2003    Marty's cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Found this one at dusk.

I like the concept and love the cache box and contents. There is some really cool stuff in there. It is awful close to another cache though.

Watch out for the poison Ivy.

Took ball, left hat and some toys.

I think I'm pic 27.

Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 08 Oct 2003    Greenway Again!  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

I had been out to look for this one when Quinn originally re listed it. I couldn't find it with all the gut-high weeds.

Now that the frost has killed all the weeds, I found it at dusk while seeking Marty's Cache. They are very close together.

Took nothing, left nothing. I did take a picture but couldn't read the number afterwards since all I could see were spots. It did make looking for the other one interesting with my night vision impaired.

Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 08 Oct 2003    The Old Boneyard  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

Found this one after dark - I love cemetaries by moonlight!

I took the high road in to take advantage of the moonlight on such a clear night and crossed the tracks. I discovered a wonderful collection of burdocks before I turned the light on. Burdocks and polar fleece do not belong together!!

Found the cache and signed the log. I don't think I've ever seen such a neat paint job - mine are usually sprayed to help with the camoflage with lot's of overspray, this one looked like a sign painter did it...nice job.

Since I didn't have any bones with me I took nothing and left only my log. The tunnel made the walk back much easier and more scenic.

Thanks for the hide!

Note 30 Sept 2003    Henpecked  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I checked it this evening and I think I should change the name to the bermuda triangle. I couldn't get sat locks at all tonight. With 6 full bars showing, the sportrak kept saying I was 20 to 100 miles from my actual location....

The second waypoint is still there. The hiding spot has changed somewhat but it's still in the same place. It's kind of small so look carefully. It's also more like 160 feet from the trail. I'm a bad judge of distance.

Oddly enough, the original waypoint one has also shown up again. The replacement however is gone.

It took me an hour to find everything with no coordinates - and it's my cache! Amazing how different things look with leaves.

Anyway, this cache is still ready for visitors.

Good luck and have fun.

I found it! 16 Sept 2003    HI-LO Geocache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I couldn't believe this had been out there 5 days with no finds so I had to go. We have a cottage nearby so I know the area pretty well.

It looks like there is either a lot of local traffic in the area or there have been a bunch of unlogged no-finds.

There were a bunch of kids across the way so I had to wait till they left to retrieve the cache to sign the book as they would have been able to see me pretty clearly. I finally was able to get it right at dark and replaced it with my mini light.

As it turns out I was second to sign the book.

The cache is chock full of fun stuff for the kids. Took nothing and left only a log.

Thanks for the fun hide.

I found it! 16 Jul 2003    Water for your soul  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 1 )

This was a nice hide. I used to work in this park and had scouted it a couple times to place a cache but could never find any locations I liked.

You did a nice job.

I printed this out when it was first listed and only just got to it. I see you've added hints that should make it much easier....

I signed log and had to be careful re hiding it since a bunch of kids came up behind me as I was putting it back. I don't think they saw me since they were too busy baiting fishing poles to pay attention to me.

Took nothing and left nothing since I couldn't fit anything else in there!

Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 23 Jun 2003    The Great Gates Cache  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

Huckle Buckle Beanstalk!

You almost got me on this one.

I thought I'd stop off on the way home from work for a quick one since it was close.

I usually have several sets of clothes in the truck but to my dismay I found the duffle empty. Today was not the best day for hiking in wool pants and long sleeves but I though "It'll be quick, it's only .18 miles".

I searched for over an hour and came to the brink of giving up but there was no way I was going to log a no find on a day old cache!

I did finally find it, I guess I'm just a slow learner...

The cache is in great shape even though the paint is barely dry... There is poison ivy EVERYWHERE - my dry cleaner is going to hate me!

I took the GPSr holster and left everything I had with me - including a cool little electronic organizer - only to find that it doesn't fit the Sportrak. Keep on the look out for a very nice universal-fits-everything-but-sportrak GPSr holster in a cache near you!

I took a very circuitous route back to the truck so none of the sports stars or fans would find it by mistake.

Thanks for the hide.

Note 07 Jun 2003    2003 New York Area Cachers Picnic!  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

The picnic was great!

It was good to meet everyone again and Quinn (and everyone who helped) did an excellent job putting it all together.

I found it! 07 Jun 2003    2003 New York Area Cachers Picnic!  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

And this log is for the NYGO event cache at the picnic:

Blackpete summed up our travels up pretty well. I headed to the first set of coords with the Ukes. The group that was already there confirmed the numbers we had. We decided it wasn't there and went to the other set we had. The entire group decided the cache couldn't be in the middle of an open cemetary so we all trouped back to the first location and searched for an hour. Finally we came to be aware that we weren't even in the right part of the park...

Once we discovered yet another set of coords, we found it pretty easy.

Thanks for the fun and the exercise!

I found it! 07 Jun 2003    Rocky Adventure by The Wheelygood Team  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 2.5 )

Found this one on the first try after the Ukes mentioned they hadn't found it at the picnic. I loved the container.

This was a excellent hide made better by a couple of great new friends!

I found it! 06 Jun 2003    Ghost's Domain  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

I came out to hit a couple in this park before the picnic.

Took 0, left 0.

There is still a pretty scary picture in there....

I found it! 06 Jun 2003    Durand Discovery 1  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Well, I did come out to get to know the park and get some exercise before the picnic...

I entered the coords randomly and found it on the last try. Of course I ended up walking completely around the pond to find it.

Traded WG$ and explained geocaching to the sheriff's deputies I came across as I made my way out of the woods at 10pm. They had been patrolling for the other kinds of activity that happens here after dark. Happily, they said they haven't had any problems this year so I'll probably be back for more caches after work next week.

Thanks for the hike!

I found it! 06 Jun 2003    Tamarck Swamp Cache  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1.5 )

I decided to go after this one after the sheriff's told me the gates closed at 11pm in the park itself.

True to form, I went in on the wrong side of the swamp. I ended up walking all the way around the back and had to cross 2 fallen trees to get to the cache. I took nothing and left nothing except pic 9 on the camera. I saw stars all the way out!

Thanks for another fun hide!

Note 04 Jun 2003    2003 New York Area Cachers Picnic!  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

I will be stopping in with possibly one or two others. It depends on how the 5 year old mini-cacher is doing that day...

Since we are notorious for being late to any event, I'll be bringing some kind of dessert, like cookies.

I found it! 31 May 2003    The Orc's Treasure  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4.5 )

This was Awesome!

I loved the first hike and the actual hiding spot was very well done.

This was a great start to a very wet day of caching.

We had to log in quickly due to the rain. Took a light stick and left a couple things. The camera was either full or had dead batteries - I didn't play with it too much due to the rain.

Thanks for a great hide!

I found it! 31 May 2003    Don Quixote`s Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4.5 )

I've got bad news on this one. It looks like he's jousted his last windmill.

The healthy tree is dead. It looks like the ice/wind storms brought it down completely. We did find the remains of the cache some distance away but someone tried to burn it. We picked up what we could find which included a page or two of the log book and some melted army men.

I'll post a pic tomorrow.

This one should probably be archived or relocated.

I found it! 31 May 2003    PEZ Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4.5 )

Third cache of the day and second by Rippie.

We hiked in from the Seth Green access area without too much trouble. It was nice to see this one still here after our other disappointment. I was pleasantly surprised to find it safe and dry. There are however no pez left.

Took turning stone chip to add to my wife's collection and left a few things.

Thanks for the hide.

Trails, we don't need no stinking trails......

I found it! 31 May 2003    The Great Genesee River Deer Run  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Last one of the day and third by Rippie.

As usual I came in the long way after hitting a couple others along the way. We encountered a deer that stood 25 feet awayand watched us with no fear. We climbed straight back up after spending most of the day at the bottom of the gorge for the mile plus trip back to the truck.

There were several deer skulls near the cache. It looks like something comes here for dinner.

By the time we got there, we were starved so we took the gum (it was the only thing close to food in the area...) and ambulance play set. Left camping fuel and other stuff.

Thanks for the hide!

I found it! 30 May 2003    Casey's "The Steve Irwin Experience" Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

This was actually my first find ever. I used Boozers 310 way back when before I found him and bought my Sportrack.

I was waiting to re visit it with my daughter but I was cleaning out my pack and found the pages from the Dog Chow Cache log I picked up and dried way back when. I had planned on dropping them off in one of your caches and happened to be in the park fishing tonight. I just got back(it's 2 am now).

I dropped off the Dog Chow pages and took nothing.

I found it! 25 May 2003    Strange Birds  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

I was in the area scouting new cache locations and found it.

It was the driest of the caches I found today but you might want to bring some old shoes. They might come in handy.

I found it! 25 May 2003    30 Mile Point Lighthouse  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Found this one as I was scouting area parks for cache locations.

I didn't bring any coords with me so I wasn't even sure this was the correct lighthouse until I got home!

I found it! 17 May 2003    Escape  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2 )

We weren't first but we were the first to find it at night....

Stopped in after bullhead fishing and found it at 11pm. I had been here before for other caches but I brought my brother for his first cache tonight. We didn't have Eldorado's problem since we couldn't see any prior footprints.

I'm pic 13, the newby is pic 12. We left some cookie cutters and a can of camping fuel. We took nothing except a bag of trash on the way out.

I'm starting to get addicted to night caching!

Thanks for the hide!

I couldn 17 May 2003    The Treasure Of Blackbeard  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with Hornet.

We searched for an hour to no avail. The only thing we found was a ton of trash and an almost new boat fender.

This place must get a lot of traffic during the day. We ran into 5 or 6 people while we were in the area and we were there around 1:30 AM!
[Modified 2003-05-18 13:29:09]

I found it! 14 May 2003    Iroquois Transplanted  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Nice little hike and a great hiding spot.

Took nothing but a couple shots of bug spray and left nothing since I left the pack in the truck.

The camera is empty - they all seem to be when I get to them lately, I'm not that scary on film....

Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 14 May 2003    Mendon Ponds Deer  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1 )

Somehow I had the coords off at N43 02.774 and tried to walk over from Iroquois Transplanted since it was only .21 miles. I realized something was wrong when I ran into a wall of posted signs.

Once I double checked the coords I realized I was actually over a mile away.

I parked the truck along the side of the road and was prepared for an easy one since the distance was only .15 miles. Usually I find these disappointing because they are too easy but this was a pleasant surprise. Getting to the location is the easy part, finding the cache is a bit more challenging.

It looks like the ice storm helped with the general decor of the place.

Apparently I just missed Brogan and Berkmom. There is only room for one more log unless you write on the back cover. I took trash bag and left doll furniture kit and toys.

Thanks for the hide!

I found it! 14 May 2003    Issaquah Saw A Deer  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

This one almost got me. I wanted to end another night of night caching with an easy one. This was supposed to be .11 miles from where I parked.

The coords kept putting me in the same place 50 feet from the cache on the wrong side of the hill. I scoured every nook and cranny and poked every bush for an hour before I called a friend to check the logs for me. She found some updated coords in a log on GC.com which sent me in the right direction. 5 minutes later I had it.

When I checked the pedometer, it said I had hiked an extra mile up and down the side of that hill!

The moon was very bright on the hike out and I saw more than 50 deer on the way out of the park.

Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 09 May 2003    Cacher's Cache Can  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Nice Hide - There are literally hundreds of potential spots here. With all the new downed trees and branches from the ice storm it is even more interesting.

The log book is full. I didn't have any with me that would fit or I would have left one. I was the last entry on the last page.

Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 09 May 2003    Mendon Ponds Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I circled this a few times and then looked in what I thought was the logical spot and there it was.

I found this at dusk and the hiding spot gave an awesome view of the pond with the peepers peeping and no bugs. I'll be back here...

I took a matchbox car and WG buck and left screwdrivers and some other stuff. The camera was empty so I couldn't take a pic.

I noticed as I was leaving that there are some poisen ivy vines just starting to leaf out near the cache so be careful.

Thanks for the hide!

I found it! 09 May 2003    Mendon Ponds #2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I walked over from Mendon Ponds 1 and got here well after dark. Of course I tried the wrong side of the pond the first time and got within 210 feet with no joy. I backtracked out and went in on the right side but I was following the perimeter of the pond pretty closely and there were no trails there....

In another couple weeks, the paths I took will be very wet.

When I did find it, I took Elmo for the kids and left a can of camping fuel and a few other things. Cache is pretty full right now so bring smaller items to fit.

On the way out I went through the woods and found lots of trails suited to those who have 4 legs and are 4 feet tall. All the underbrush made this a very interesting night cache.

The walk back along the main trails to get back to the truck was spectacular. The moon was just full enough to make the lights unnecessary and the peepers and ducks were great company.

Note 23 Mar 2003    Henpecked  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I was out doing some cache maintenance this weekend and had to replace part one of this cache. I also updated the starting coordinates.

It's fully stocked and ready to go.

Note 23 Mar 2003    Country Wheels  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 3 )

I was out doing some cache maintenance this weekend - it's fully stocked and ready to go.

It is a bit wet back there this time of year.

I found it! 19 Mar 2003    Graveyard Grumble Part 2 of 2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Now I know why I missed it last month - it was under two and a half feet of snow and ice.

Today the snow had melted so just the top of the box was revealed. Something inside smells really bad but I couldn't tell what is was.

I took nothing and left a pair of gloves in case it gets cold again.

Thanks for the fun hide!

I found it! 08 Mar 2003    Avon Calling Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

After a morning spent playing splatball this was a long hike!

The trail was a mixture of black mud, horse apples and slush but it was still great to be outside again.

I dropped off the NYPD travel bug and a pair of gloves and picked up a travelling postcard and WG buck.

Thanks for the hide!

I found it! 23 Feb 2003    Den 11 Strikes Again  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2.5 )

This was my third find of the day without moving my truck from the area of Hogan's Heros.

I printed it out some time ago and didn't realize it had been archived. It's still there.

This was the hardest of the day simply because of the way I chose to go at it. There is only one legal and safe way to get to it from this side - I tried one of the stupid ways and it didn't work...

After going to Global Geocache I decided to try again from a different angle and got there. The cache is still in two plastic bags which were fairly well hidden near the coordinates. They have been holding up pretty well considering they've been out there since at least October but the log book was a bit damp in one corner.

I took nothing, left a handwarmer and rebagged the log book. I think I also forgot to finish signing the log after searching my pack for bags. This is the one trip I didn't have a spare ammo can with me....

This was fun from any direction!

I found it! 21 Feb 2003    Hogan's Hero's  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

First find of the new year!

This was the first of the three I found without moving the truck. I had to take advantage of the 40 degree weather and skip out work to go caching.

Took tees, left hand warmers and tape.

I found it! 21 Feb 2003    Global Geocache (ARCHIVED)  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

This was my second find of the day. Since I walked over from Hogan's Heros, it was a bit more challenging than it could have been. I walked past the cache 3 or 4 times before finding it in good shape and still dry.

Took TB to move him south nest time the weather breaks.

Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 21 Feb 2003    Graveyard Grumble Part 1 of 2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Part one completed!

See part two.

I couldn 21 Feb 2003    Graveyard Grumble Part 2 of 2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

This was my fifth cache of the day and I solved all the clues and arrived at the final coords right at closing time.

I poked around a minute or two with no luck and had to run to get out before the gates closed.

All in all, this was a great cache and a great workout in the snow!

I'll be back as soon as the ice melts again...!

I found it! 20 Jan 2003    Spiderman's Hideout  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

My First First Find!

Since this is only a couple miles from work, I had to go on lunch.

Nice little trek in frigid temperatures. (The wind chill is currently -2 F!)There were lots of tracks out there from dog walkers which had me expecting to run into another cacher and should obscure my tracks.

I signed the log but my hands were shaking so badly it looks like I have parkinsons...

Traded coin for screen protectors.

Thanks for the cold find!

I found it! 18 Jan 2003    Eversure's C&S Cache....  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Found this after stopping in to visit at the Akron Winter Festival Cache. Met up with Roadkill, Balloonpilot, Chickenlips, Brogran and others as they walked out.

I loved the cache location but it was frozen in place so none of us could sign the log book.

I found it! 18 Jan 2003    THE HOBBIT - BAG END CACHE  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

Found this after the Akron Winter Festival event cache. I was suprised it didn't get more action today. I met up with Burkmom as she headed out and she walked back in with me since she could get the cache out.

After putting all my weight behind it, we got it out and signed the book and quilt.

I took a CD and left gloves (it was cold out there!), hooks and a first aid kit for the little hobbits.

Thanks for the fun hide!

cameraSome goofy looking guy...CAUTION, MAY BE SPOILER!

I found it! 18 Jan 2003    Akron Falls Winterfest Event Cache  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

I'm not sure how to log this but I was there!

I met a bunch of new cachers including Roadkill (yes that hat does exist...), Balloonpilot, Chickenlips, Brogan, Dekaner, Burkmom, and, of course, members of the Hilton Family.

Thanks for the fun get together!

I found it! 24 Nov 2002    Blossom's Booty  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2.5 )

We found this one at 4:30 just before dusk.

This is a great park, I wish we were able to get down there more often.

The signs said this trail is closed for the season but it was clear and pretty dry today. I'm not sure why they would close since it doesn't look like it would be that dangerous - even with snow cover.

We took an ear warmer and G-buck and left a candle, gloves and sewing kit. The Mini Trimmer travel bug is still in the cache but we were headed the wrong way...

I found it! 23 Nov 2002    Goin' Fishin' Cache  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

Found this one with my wife - her first trip!

We ended up going down the wrong side of the creek at first. The topo maps in the Sportrak are usually very close but they let me down today.

We took nothing and left a pair of gloves.

This was very well hidden. Thanks.

I found it! 23 Nov 2002    Winged Things  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

This was the scond find of the day and my wife's first "official" find since she just had to hold the GPSr on the first leg and I waited until she actually found the cache on the second.

We took a batarang for my Batman obsessed daughter and left a deck of Disney playing cards from Disneyworld - Donald's wings were the only ones we had with us...

Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 23 Nov 2002    Genesee Valley Park I (ARCHIVED)  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1 )

I decided to do a little night caching after my wife headed home and found this pretty quick.

I found it! 23 Nov 2002    Genesee Valley Park II (ARCHIVED)  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

I decided to do a little night caching after my wife headed home and found it pretty quick.

I headed right over after part one and found it with ease. I was a bit nervous that people in the houses would wonder what I was doing out there with a light.

I took the dino bath gel (it looked gross enough that my daughter will love it) and left a wooden doll furniture kit.

Thanks for the hide.

I couldn 23 Nov 2002    Hamlin Name It & Claim It  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

We are pretty sure we looked in the right place for the first part but there was nothing there. All the clues, logic, and the GPSr pointed us to one place with no luck.

I found it! 20 Nov 2002    Valley Of The Inukshuk  ( Difficulty: 4.5    Terrain: 4.5 )

I parked about 400 feet from the cache and then cursed myself for forgetting to bring rope.

I was sure I could get down that way (gravity usually helps) but I wasn't sure I could get back up so I ended up hiking in along the river. There were big fat squirrels everywhere.

I came across a recently dead 10 point buck that looked like he had swum across to escape something. I have his coords if anyone is desperate for a trophy....

As I got close, I heard kids yelling back and forth in the woods so I signed the log book quickly and left.

Great hide and thanks for the workout - the hike was only about 2 miles but felt like 5!

I found it! 20 Nov 2002    Lower Falls And The Old Glen House cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I wandered in circles a bit until I changd the low batteries and then zeroed right in.

Took nothing and left a dollhouse furniture kit.

Thanks for the hide - it made a nice warm up for the long hike along the river.

I found it! 20 Nov 2002    Maple Grove Cache  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

I found this one right at dusk.

At first I was going to climb right up hill to it but then I looked at the difficulty and realized that that wasn't even close to the right way to approach it.

Once I got back out of the gorge (I was down there for a couple others), I walked right up to it but there were other people around so I signed the log quickly. I hope my log is readable since I wrote it in near dark with no light. I didn't want to alert anyone to what I was doing by using a light.

Apparently I missed Gary earlier today.

Took nothing, left nothing but did enjoy the pics.

Note 16 Nov 2002    Country Wheels  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 3 )

It never fails to amaze me what people are capable of.

Sometime between 11/10 and 11/14, someone went out in the woods - with tools - and stole the wheels off the first stop on this cache!

I have reset the starting coords so they now direct you to artifact 2 to start the fun.

I did check to make sure the cache is still there. It's a lot harder to find in the dark and rain...

Thanks to lowerfalls for making me aware of the problem.

Good luck.

I found it! 14 Nov 2002    Brodies Box  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Found this one after dark. The camera was full so I couldn't take a pic. The cache is full and in good shape.

Took and left nothing then wandered in the dark until I found a trail.

Thanks for the hide.

Note 13 Nov 2002    Scrawny's spot!  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2 )

It pays to update your research before you head out...

I found the location and then noticed that the cache had been pulled for the winter -D'oh!

I couldn 13 Nov 2002    Issaquah In Webster  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 4 )

After reading the description I thought this would be hard to get to so I decided to take a short bushwack detour through some thick under brush and roses only to hear a couple circle me on a trail not 40 feet away.

Well, I found the location but just couldn't bring myself to go the last 30 feet - especially when part of the trail dropped away beneath me! Big guys with bad knees have to watch what kind of trouble we get into. I probably should have looked at the pic before going out.

I'll be back when I'm better prepared mentally and physically. Maybe I'll even be able to find someone smaller and more nimble than me to introduce to the sport.....

I found it! 13 Nov 2002    I Pledge  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 1 )

This was a great hide.

I love the location. We've been planning something similiar for the west side but weren't sure if it would work.

I found it! 10 Nov 2002    Sprucewood  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

This was a nice hide on a twisting trail. There was someone blasting away with a gun nearby.

I took a pic - number 21 I think.

The cache is full. I took nothing and left nothing.

I found it! 10 Nov 2002    Down in the Dumps  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

As usual, I took a long way in for this one. Unfortunately I tried to take a shortcut on the way out that was even longer....

Since it was a beautiful 65 degree day, the exta long hike was fun.

This was a great hide. I took a G-Buck and left a
nightmare Before Christmas watch.

I found it! 10 Nov 2002    My Cache Goes Where the Wild Goose Goes  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2.5 )

This was a nice hike once I finally found the trail. That's a long 100 yards!

Took nothing, left nothing. It sounded like there were trains running the whole time I was there.

I found it! 09 Nov 2002    Gypsum Mine II  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

After getting skunked at the old location I just had to find this one.

There were tons of squirrels out today and I spooked a huge buck with two does on the way in. Just as I found the cache, Nomad and Boozer and family showed up. It was nice to meet some new folks out in the woods.

I took a Gbuck and left a pair of gloves.

Nice hide!

I found it! 09 Nov 2002    I Heard it on the Grapevine  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Nice hike on a fabulous fall day. I think I took the hard way in but I found it.

I found it! 09 Nov 2002    Deer Crossing  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I found this one just as it was getting dark. I got lucky when I saw it since this was so well hidden.

It looked like I just missed the GPS Hikers again. They signed two log books just before me today.

Took nothing, left gloves.

I found it! 09 Nov 2002    Deer's Bedroom  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3.5 )

Found this one after dark.

Part one was pretty easy but I fell apart on the second part. I circled for quite a while with my little light with no luck. I killed the batteries in the GPS and my backup flashlight. I let the batteries in the main light rest a bit and decided to give it one more shot.

I ended up finding it right next to where I had crawled in not 15 minutes before. I was right on top of it the whole time.

Since it was dark, I ended up walking into, or being grabbed by, every D#@*N rose bush in that field - most of them more than once. I really do have to learn to bring a bigger light for night caches (of course then it won't be as much fun....)

Took magnifying glass for the little one and the flashlight since I needed it to get out and left a knife. The cache is still packed full.

Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 09 Nov 2002    It's as easy as ABC  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

This was a pretty easy find on a nice trail.

I had a very inquisitive deer watch me as I climbed up over the hill and found the spooky tree below. It looks like the trees the wicked witch in OZ had.

Took two G-bucks and left a prepared slide set.

Thanks for the hide.

  cameraSpooky Tree

I found it! 07 Nov 2002    Dog Chow Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2.5 )

Well I found it.

It was spread all over the place and looks like it was plundered by something. I'm guessing it was an animal since there was a G-buck still on the ground.

I cleaned up the mess and hauled it all out of there along with a bag of normal trash.

I'm not real clear on the etiquette of finding a plundered cache but I figured it was better to haul it all out than to leave a mess in the woods with the navicache name attached to it.

Anyway, I have contacted the owners to let them know the situation and would advise anyone else to hold off until further notice.

It's a shame since it was a nice little hide in a pretty busy environment.

I found it! 07 Nov 2002    Greenway Trail Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

This was a nice one after work. I found it right at dusk.

The colors on the trees were awesome and it was a nice easy trail.

It was too dark to take a pic but I signed the book by flashlight.

I took the golf tees and left a light stick.

Thanks Gimpy!

I found it! 03 Nov 2002    Cache Jubilee  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 3 )

Found this one this morning. We used to play here as kids. It was a secret spot known only to locals up to a couple of years ago when the town started building the park.

It's still a beatiful area above and below the falls and it's nice to see some real trails up there.

I don't remember what I traded but I noted it in the log book.

I found it! 03 Nov 2002    Maps Maiden  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Found this one at 5pm.

I didn't know this area was here. There were a bunch of kids playing nearby so there must be a playground there somewhere.

The cache was in good shape but a little light so I took nothing and left a few items.

Thanks Gimpy!

I found it! 03 Nov 2002    Your boots were made for cachin'  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2 )

This one was pretty easy. I ended up finally finding it in the dark with a penlight. I'll have to remember to bring a bigger light next time - I'm sure night caching is more fun that way.

This was a great hiding place. There were many likely places and I was impressed when I found out where it was.

Judging from the log, this one was pretty popular today.

I normally try to bulk up the caches I find since I'm a latecomer and tend to go after a lot of older ones but this one needed no help. It was packed! I left a new Tigger pez dispenser since that was the smallest thing I had and I still had to work to get him in there. I also took a pic - number 18 or 19 in a tan carhart jacket. I'm not sure how it will turn out since it was totally dark out.

I found it! 31 Oct 2002    Northhampton Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1 )

Happy Halloween!

Another nice location in a pretty park.

The cache is in great shape and chock full of fun stuff. I added a few more things to this packed box.

There is a ton of deer sign in the area and I spooked a couple that went crashing through the woods ahead of me.

I took a picture with the camera-it was number 22 or 23.

I found it! 31 Oct 2002    Geodecache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

I got to this one at dusk - I forgot how quick it gets dark this time of year.

The cache is in great shape in a very quiet part of the park. I love these that are off a trail in open woods.

I took some geodes and a couple pretty stones from another bag for my daughter and left a stone indian pipe to stick with the mineral theme of the items I took.

Is there anything more exciting than turning on the backlight on the GPSr in a strange area at dark and noticing that the sats have deserted you? :>)

Another fun hike in beautiful hardwoods.

I found it! 28 Oct 2002    Who Ya Gonna Call?  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Found this one on lunch at 3:30pm

I started on Friday during lunch since it looked like a nice "don't get dirty" hunt. I found parts one and two Friday and the last two today.

There is still some great stuff in this one if anyone else finds it. It doesn't come up in zip code or area searches on either site.

I took a mini flashlight and left a medal.

Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 26 Oct 2002    Isabel's Part 1 of 2  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Found Isabel today, she was quiet but the birds were singing to her.

I found it! 26 Oct 2002    Isabel's Treasure Part 2 of 2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Found part 2 at about 12:51. Nice little multi point to start off the day. I have been getting into trouble on the first one of each trip so this was a nice change.

I took a pair of gloves and left a heavy metal olympic medal and G-buck.

I found it! 26 Oct 2002    Morgans Adventure  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

I found this one pretty easily enough with just the coords since I left the printout in the truck.

I must have just missed the cub scouts ahead of me.

Took nothing, left two pairs of gloves.

After this I tried to go directly Hawthorne....what a mistake! :>(

Thanks for a fun hide Quinn!

I found it! 26 Oct 2002    Hawthorn  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

This was my last find of the day.

I tried walking directly from Morgan's Adventure to this one using existing trails and crossing through the open woods. I got to see lots of open woods with many squirrels and a couple of big deer before I realized it wasn't possible. There was marsh on 3 sides of me and I was still .31 miles away. I was so deep in the woods I had to use morgan's adventure as a waypoint to get back out. This park is a lot bigger than I thought it was.

Since I got skunked on another of Barrington's hides today I was determined to find this one!

Once I got back to the truck and figured out where to go to park, I found it pretty quickly. There are tons of deer and rabbits on and around the trails.

I took the corn chips (yes, I was that hungry by then and the seals were all still good), and a bunch of empty gum and candy wrappers and left a poncho and gloves. The paper contents of this one are starting to get a little damp.
[Modified 2002-10-28 18:35:33]

I couldn 26 Oct 2002    Gypsum Mine  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Well, if they were all easy to find, the game wouldn't be as much fun....

This was to have been my third of the day. After finishing up Isabel's Treasure I thought I'd knock a couple off in this park.

It was a nice hike in using deer trails. I heard a fox and saw several deer moving around. I also saw several huge puffball mushrooms. I wish I could have figured out a way to carry them.

I got back to the area of the cache and the GPSr said I was three feet away at one point. I searched the area thoroughly for 30 minutes and then sat down to decode giveaway clue 1. After searching another 10 minutes I tried clue 2. I tried for another half hour and even called home to see if there were any hints in the logs before admitting defeat.

It looks like someone else has been out here recently as well since every loose rock in the area had been turned.

I dropped an email to Barrington and he said he'll try to check on it as soon as he is able, but for now I'm thinking this one is MIA (I have to keep telling myself that since my stubborn ego won't let me admit I couldn't find one!)

Thanks for the hike and I'll be back for the others in this park.

I found it! 24 Oct 2002    Bookcrossing with Basil  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Found this one at 4:41 with no trouble except there were lots of people around.

Signed log book, took nothing, left book.

Thanks for the find!

I found it! 24 Oct 2002    Message in a Bottle  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Found Part 1 with no trouble at 5:02 and part 2 at 5:29.

Nice little area with only a few people around.

Took G-buck and clippers and left candles.

Thanks for the hide!

I found it! 24 Oct 2002    Badge Adventure cache!  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

This was the last of the day. Found it at 6:29 just as it was getting dark.

Nice walk, and found myself saying D'oh when I realized where I was headed....

Took memory (hoping it'll work in the P133 I'm setting up in the garage) and WGbuck, left brand new Led Zeppelin CD.

Nice hide Quinn, thanks for the fun.

I found it! 20 Oct 2002    Huckleberry Island  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 3 )

What an experience this one was!

After parking, I tried to head to the cache via what looked like well defined trails. When I ran out of trails I was forced to try and make some. At some points I was completely blinded by vegetation - and I'm six feet tall. I ended up falling in the murky water and getting soaked. I managed to keep the GPSr dry but not my cell phone. :(

Once I managed to find dry land things got easier. I even saw a flock of 9 or 10 good sized turkeys.

I did find the cache and Quinn's tree. It was very peaceful back there - nice location.

This was a good learning experience for me. From now on everything goes in plastic bags and I will have to remember "if it looks too hard to be the right path, it probably is..."

Took light stick and left a sealed blank tape since that was the only thing still dry.

I found it! 20 Oct 2002    CARON S CACHE  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

This was my second of the day and I was glad for the long bike trek since it helped dry me out and warm up a bit.

I finally found it at about 4 PM after circling the most likely spots several times. This was very well hidden and took me over 20 minutes to find.

I believe I am number 15 on the camera. I was in a brown (deer colored) carhart jacket with an orange shirt over it so you'll recognize me if I have the wrong number.

Took Where'sGeorge bill and left tape.

Thanks for the fun.

I found it! 20 Oct 2002    Pink Panther  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Found this one soon after Caron's Cache at 4:20 PM. It was a nice little ride further along the trails.

Great hide off a great trail for a ride - even for my out of shape butt.

This has to be the best smelling cache I've done due to the berry air freshener inside :)

Took little magic-grow frog for the little one and left fish hooks. I also hauled out what I thought was a bag of soggy garbage near the cache. When I got home I discovered it was once a model kit. Curious animals must have torn the bag open and ruined it.

I found it! 20 Oct 2002    Creeks Edge Cache!  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Fourth and last of the day.

Another tough find. The ride was more challenging due to all the hills but I got close ok. I circled for quite a while - the GPSr had me to within 4' at one point and I still didn't see it. I did find it on the next pass and laughed because I had passed right by it 3 or 4 times. It ended up being less than 40 feet from where I laid the bike down.

The overgrowth has definately helped to camoflage this one. I imagine it would VERY hard to find in mid summer when everything is leafed out.

Took the tube kit since I had one low tire and left a Where'sGeorge bill and another tape.

I briefly considered hauling all the trash out of the area but thought that might be futile...

I found it! 17 Oct 2002    Candie's Cache  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

My second "official" find and second in one day...(I did find one other by you folks but won't log it until I can go back with my daughter and sign the book).

This was a nice follow up to Quinn's Planes, Trains, etc. cache. I will admit I tried to get there from the wrong side at first but did find it before it got dark. The Sportrak was off by 30' but I'm guessing that is due to user error since I just got it today.

This was a nice location and great walk.

Took mini-Postits and left another blank Maxell tape.

I found it! 17 Oct 2002    Planes, Trains and Automobiles  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 3.5 )

My first official find!!!

I found this one at 5:30 - only a couple hours after picking up my new GPS. It was actually harder to find someplace to park than it was to find the neighborhood of the cache. The Sportrak got me close but still showed that I was off by 35 feet right at the cache. I'm guessing the differential was user error....:)

Anyway this one is still in good shape in a great hiding place.

Thanks Quinn for a great hide!

Took nothing, left a blank Maxell tape.
