CACHE LOGS - May contain hints(spoilers)!   decode

Note 24 Sept 2003    The Pirates Treasure  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 4 )

Rippie has reported that the final part of this cache has been washed away by the river. If you come across it in Lake Ontario, let us know. :P

Note 08 Aug 2003    The Troll's Treasure  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 4.5 )

Due to a cacher losing the cache, I have to replace it, which will take some time to properlly prepare it.

I found it! 26 Jul 2003    Celebrating Family Fun in the Outdoors  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Had a blast as always! We (Issaquah Puppy, Otter, and I) really enjoed the camping part as well. If you have not camped out at one of these events, I recommend it highly! It was suggested that we try to get spots all in one area at the Letchworth GT. That sounds like a great idea, just make sure it is one of the loops that will take dogs (or Issaquah Puppy will be hurt). Too bad we didn't do Indian Pipe Trail as a night cache. That would have been great. It was still major fun, with Jungle, She, Issaquah Puppy, and I bumbling our way to the cache in the rain. I wonder if the group that split off from us actually did the Fire Tower cache, or wimped out. Ohhhh... I just looked, and they started it, and then wimped out when it started raining! :P

I found it! 16 May 2003    Escape  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2 )

I had been home from work for a short while and got an email (about 6pm) saying there was a new cache. Living in Fairport, I saw the cache was across town. It was raining out, and I decided the heck with that, I am not going out there. Next thing I know, Issaquah Puppy and I are in the car headed to the cache. I made it to the parking area about 6:30. Puppy and I headed for the cache. We had done several caches in the this area, so it was familiar ground. When we got near the cache area I saw tracks through the wet grass. I knew someone had been here before me. I followed the tracks for a bit, and then made my own. I figured it was Quinn that had been here. As I approached the cache site, I spotted a likely hiding spot but my GPS still said 70 feet away. As my GPS settled down, the spot I first saw turn out to be indeed the hiding spot. Sure enough the first person to the cache was Quinn. Seeing the Quinn had an advantage by being the first person to know about the cache, I was happy that Issaquah Puppy and I were the second to the cache. I signed the log book, and took a picture of the two of us. I hope it turns out. I took the autographed book, and left a poncho. To future cachers, Quinn left a Navicache tee-shirt in there! On our way out from the cache, I ran into Carron, and Lupin. Carron was surprised to see me since I had knee surgery a month and a half ago...but hey, I AM HINGE THUNDER! :)

Note 05 May 2003    2003 New York Area Cachers Picnic!  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

I had planned on coming but another commitment is scheduled for the same day. I might be able to make it after 6pm. Not sure.

I found it! 18 Apr 2003    Hey Mom & Dad give us the GPS  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Thought the terrain was maybe a touch under rated at this point. Maybe put it at a 2. Alot of mud, and thorn bushes back there at this point. Signed log, and took nothing except some scratches.

I found it! 18 Apr 2003    Dino #1  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1.5 )

I had a pretty good idea where the cache was before I got there just by seeing where it was on the map, and reading the description. Issaquah Puppy and I headed there after I got off work, and sure enough, it was right was I thought it would be. Thanks for a nice walk.

I found it! 17 Apr 2003    The Gambler  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

Issaquah Puppy and I did this cache after I got home from work. We even ran into WMSFresh as we were at one of the stops. They recognised the famous Issaquah Puppy of course! Most of the parts weren't that hard. Coords are kind of rough, but that was apparent at the actual cache site. I got some soem scratches. Oh well. Took nothing except picture of Issaquah.

Note 15 Apr 2003    Issaquah's Try'n Try Again  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4 )

Issaquah Puppy and I visited the cache (only two weeks after my knee surgery), and the cache was EXACTLY where I placed it! It may have been a little more difficult as time and weather have covered it more than I left it. But it was, and still it there! I did take the opportunity to do a little cache maintenance.

Note 14 Apr 2003    Issaquah's Pebble In A Gravel Pit  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 1.5 )

After several no finds, I went to check the cache. The cache may or may not still be there. If it is still there, it is buried under rocks. It looks like they recently dumped more rocks along that section of canal bank, covering the cache location.

Note 13 Mar 2003    2003 New York Area Cachers Picnic!  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Maybe there will be a Leprachaun's Treasure Part 2? :) Not sure if I can be that clever again.

I found it! 23 Oct 2002    Gibsonville Doublet  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 2.5 )

Issaquah Puppy, Otter, and I went after this early Saturday morning. If was a nice hike! Enjoyed the waterfalls. I wish I hadn't left my digital camera in the car.

I found it! 05 Oct 2002    HOGS BACK VISTAS  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Issaquah Puppy and I, went with CB & dave from the Windingo team on Saturday morning before the picnic. It was alot of fun!

I found it! 05 Oct 2002    Brogan's Topo Lesson  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 3.5 )

Issaquah Puppy and I went over with Rippie, and a van load of others to look for the cache about 2pm. Issaquah Puppy was giving Dekaner little puppy kisses on his ear. He seemed to like it. On our way down the hill we ran into a group of people with an open cachebox. We were still a ways from teh special cache, and discovered this was the Mossy Pine cache that we weren't even looking for at the moment. We signed the log book anyway. We all headed down the hill, and got to about 500 feet from the cache, but it was across a ravine. Puppy and I were halway down into the ravine, when people were saying that we would need to cross a second ravine, and I was saying "So what?" When it became clear that no one else was going to cross the ravine, but were going to head up the hill, I decided that mush of the fun of this cache would be the group participation, rather than getting there among the first. We all headed up the hill, but when we got there, it was 10 to 3, so we head back to the pavillion for pictures at 3pm. The awards were at 4pm. After the awards, I had my wife take my car, and head back to wait at the camp site, while we all headed back to the cache. I again rode again with Rippie and gang. Again Puppy was giving little kisses to Dekaner. J-Ra seemed to be getting jealous. Well all headed back down the hill but starting in a different spot. I decided not to go as slowly this time, but to go at more my normal pace, so Puppy and I left the others in the dust. I got down the hill, and was within 150 feet of the cache, but it was again on the other side of a ravine. As I was examining the ravine, some of the others caught up with me. We heard people on the other side of the ravine. We asked if they had found the cache, but we couldn't get a straight answer. Some people on my side were talking about head back up the hill, but I decided to heck with that. All the while I was regretting not having gone across the other ravines. Puppy and I headed down into the ravine, and then back up the other side. Once of there, we quickly found the cache. As others were still looking, I pretended not to have found it, and continued looking, and made a circular route to 'Huckle Buckle Hill", and waited for others to find it. After a while everyone foudn it, and we begain a masss signing of the log. We then all head back up the hill. Again Puppy and I went up the hill at a faster pace than most. Rippie gave me a ride back to my campsite, and then headed back to the pavillion. I then realized I left my GPS in the back of Rippie's van. I jumped in my car, and drove back to the pavillion, found his van, and got my GPS out of the back. This was the second time this weekend I had forgotten my GPS. The first time, I left it on the roof of my car, and found it a short while later in the middle of the road where it had fallen off at about 40mph. Thanks for the fun Brogan!

I found it! 04 Oct 2002    What's the Point  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1 )

Issaquah Puppy and I went out after this cache with MrMom, and MrsMom, and Goo. We did it as a night cache, and it was alot of fun! Thanks much!

I found it! 03 Oct 2002    Letchworth Fall Cachers' Gathering  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

We had a blast! Thanks to all the origanizers and helpers. I am exhausted from all the
various caching I did. Issaquah Puppy came home and crashed. Great food. And the
Dash for the Cache was fun, though during the raffle, all the wrong numbers were
called (especially for the GPS).

I found it! 22 Sept 2002    Monkey Do  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

This was nice easy cache. Issaquah Puppy and I found it without too much trouble.
We weren't the first though. Hey Wheelygood, get a life! :)
[Modified 2002-09-22 10:09:18]

I found it! 22 Sept 2002    Monkey See  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4 )

Issaquah Puppy and I found this, though we were not the first. I wont
say much about this, so as not to give anything away, but WE HAD A
BLAST!
[Modified 2002-09-22 10:08:41]

Note 13 Sept 2002    Letchworth Fall Cachers' Gathering  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

I, my wife, and of course, Issaquah Puppy, will be there. We will be camping the 200 loop (space 247).

I found it! 09 Sept 2002    Hilly Hills Adventure  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 4 )

Issaquah Puppy and I found it. Lost my work pager in the area though,
so if anyone finds it, please let me know. I met Peppermill 6-pack on my
way in. Nice folks! Scrawny, the 5 star terrain is WAY overboard. A 5
terrain would require special equipment such as scuba gear, or at least
ropes. I would put the terrain maybe a 3.5 or 4 at the most.

I found it! 08 Sept 2002    Sleepy Hollow  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

Issaquah Puppy and I found the cache without any trouble. I passed some people smoking dope beside the creek. I didn't see it, but I sure could smell it. Do they think people won't know? Anyway, it was anice cache. I was familiar with the area as I done another cache close by.

I found it! 06 Sept 2002    Rocky Adventure by The Wheelygood Team  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 2.5 )

ISSAQUAH PUPPY AND I FOUND IT FIRST! This was the screwiest cache I have ever done! My original brief search wouldn't have revealed it, as I didn't have the write up, and didn't know the difficulty level or anything. I won't say why I didn't find it last night, but let me just say that there had been some cache maintenance done or I might not have found it tonight either. The new clue wasn't really needed. The original clue coords made much more sense after I found the cache. I ended up improvising. Thanks for the fun!

Note 02 Sept 2002    Issaquah In Webster  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 4 )

I revisited cache and found box slightly south of the original location I moved box north to original location, and rigged a new better system to keep it there. Also, I am going to start deleting any logs from people who only saw, but did not actually reach the cachebox. This is not fair to people who make the effort to get to the box.

I found it! 20 Aug 2002    Scrawny's spot!  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2 )

Found the box. I think this is a very cool area for a cache. Thats why I hid one here (only about 250 feet away) months ago.
[Modified 2002-08-20 21:45:56]

I found it! 08 Aug 2002    Cache KaBoom  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2.5 )

Huckle Buckle Frigging Beanstock! It has been found! I found the first part pretty easily this time with the newest coords. The second part was a different matter. I got to the area of the coords, and started searching under fallen trees as per the note. I finally found it about 40-45 feet from the coords. Met SJ on the way out. I gave him the coords I got, and I gave him my method of getting coords. Not always perfect, but seems to work pretty well most of the time. He had a GPS V, so he may be able to get even better coords than what I gave him. Alot of man hours went into the initial find (Jaques, HFJohn, Brother Larry, CB, myself, the police, any others who didn't log a no-find)! I am very surprised to be the first! I guess I got lucky, and maybe a little obsessed. (Obsessed geocacher...isn't that an oxymoron? Or would that be a GPS Moron?) Anyway, I AM THE FIRST!

Note 05 Aug 2002    Cache KaBoom  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2.5 )

I got into the cache area, but didn't make a thorough search. Not sure
about the bones. They are probably an animal (I don't think human
vertibrae have those little 'fins'), but I called the police anyway. Let
them figure it out. They wouldn't take the coords, but wanted to have
someone show them where the bones are. I am going to go there after
work, and call them to meet me at the park. After the bones are
identified, then maybe I will look further.

Note 05 Aug 2002    Cache KaBoom  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2.5 )

After I got off work, I stopped at the Wegmans, and called 911. I
explained about the bones, and said I would meet someone there, and
show em where it was at. I got to the park at about 5:15pm, and
waited. It was hot, and still I waited. A guy showed, raced a gas
powered RC car around the lot once, crashed it, struggled to get it
going, then left. Still I waited. A bunch kids started showing up to
practice footbal. Still I waited. Finally about 6pm, the office showed up.
I took him back into the woods, showed him the bones. He shrugged,
and said he would call his boss. Now we waited for his boss. Finally his
boss showed up, he said if their were fins on the vertibrae, it was
probably an animal. He looked at the bones, and was pretty sure it was
animal. He tried to find a skull. But didn't find one. He looked for fur, but
couldn't find any of that either. While he was looking around for the
skull, I was looking also, but still keeping an eye for a film canister. The
boss said he was going to call the medical examiner, just in case. But he
was pretty sure it was an animal.

Hey, Scrawney, I think either the difficulty is too low, or maybe you got
the coords slightly off? I hope to get back and actually get time to really
search.

Note 04 Aug 2002    The Orc's Treasure  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4.5 )

Cache had been destroyed by natural causes. It has been modified, and replaced to avoid previous disaster.

I found it! 03 Aug 2002    Syracuse Geocachers Picnic  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Had alot of fun! Good food, good people. I don't think the coords for the
flag contest were as good though! :) hehehe It was still fun though. And
I was first to find the puzzle cache (if you don't count all of the others
to find it before me, such as DxChallenged!). Came home, and crashed
on couch for 2 hours to recharge from fun and long drive. Thanks for
fun, and see you in October!

I found it! 24 Jul 2002    Decoding The Clue  ( Difficulty: 4.5    Terrain: 2 )

Found it during my lunch hour. Took me a while. I have scratches on my forehead where I leaned over to look under some rocks, and jammed my forehead into the jagged end of a broken log. Could have been worse, and got me in the eye. I'll live! This was a unique cache, and I wish I had thought of something like it. Thanks for the adventure! Would have like to have been first, but some people have to work. :)

I found it! 13 Jul 2002    Paddle Back  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 5 )

We did it! Issaquah Puppy and were the first to reach the cache without a kayak, or canoe! We did it completly on land! I didn't even get my feet wet! I thought it was possible, and took a couple attempts, but we did it! Lets see if anyone else is hardcore enough to do it!!!! :)

Note 13 Jul 2002    Issaquah In Perinton  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I visited the cache box today, and it is still there. Had trouble finding it myself as the water is gone, the bushes have filled out more, so the terrain was a little different. I tweaked the coords a bit, so maybe that will help.

  cameraCache box in hiding

I found it! 08 Jul 2002    Locke of Olde Cache  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2 )

Found it, but I wasn't the first. Rippie apparently was there this morning. And Junglehair was there looking for it when I got there, and I had just started looking when she found it. CB from the Delta Team showed up a few minutes later. We all three stood there in woods chatting away until I finally decided I should head back to work. Had a nice chat with Junglehair on the way back to our cars. Lots of fun! Thanks Gimpy!

I found it! 04 Jul 2002    Global Geocache (ARCHIVED)  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Issaquah Puppy and I found it! I had actually scouted this park a while back as a possible place for a cache, but it wasn't what I was looking for at the time. Thanks for the hide!

I found it! 04 Jul 2002    We "Chit" You Not  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Issaquah Puppy and I found it! This was our third of the day! Puppy and I were really slowing down at this point.

I found it! 04 Jul 2002    Winged Things  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

Issaquah Puppy and I found it! It was our 4th cache of the day. Being in the shady woods was nice, but I was being attacked by various winged things, so I made a brief log entry, and got back out of there.

I found it! 04 Jul 2002    Message in a Bottle  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

We found it this time. The coords were a little better. I have included what I got for coords. What helped was hearing Lowerfalls talking about he found part 1 with a stick. After find part 2, we came upon a fawn and a doe. Watched em for a couple minutes, then I moved, and they spooked, and ran off. Puppy played in the creek which really helped her to cool off in this hot weather! Thanks.

43* 14.888N 77*41.576W

I found it! 04 Jul 2002    Landing on the Moon  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 3 )

I am not just a great hider, but I am a great finder as well! HUCKLE BUCKLE BEANSTOCK!!!!! :) The coords were a bit off. I am including hopefully ones that are little better. I made a log entry, and claimed the traveller! I will add her to a new treasure series cache that will hopefully be in place in a couple weeks!

Coords I got at cache were: 43* 10.854N 77* 30.711W

I found it! 03 Jul 2002    THe Bluebird Angel  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Issaquah Puppy and I found it. The hardest part was finding the parking area, and the trail head. Since it was a 1/1, I wore shorts, and sandals. I hope that wasn't poison ivy that I walked through! Thanks for the hide!

I found it! 30 Jun 2002    Bullock's Woods  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2.5 )

Rippie and I found this cache together. I actually walked past the first part only to have Rippie right behind me pull the box from it's hiding spot. I found the swapping container first. Both were pretty easily found, but coords were 15-25 feet off. I worked to get slight better coords, and gave them to lowerfalls. When I got to the area of the first part, there were footprints all around the area that looked like Quinn's, so I expected to find his name in the log book, but it wasn't there. Hmmm...

Note 29 Jun 2002    Paddle Back  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 5 )

I went after it on foot like I did Surf & Turf. I wanted to be the first to find the cache, and the first to make it to the cache on foot, but didn't accomplish either. I got to under 50 feet of the cache, but couldn't get to it. I was going by the topo, but I wish I had looked at the sat view. I may try on foot again, but from a different direction. Congrats Rippie! My arms seem to be breaking out from something or other. Oh well!

I found it! 20 Jun 2002    Shagadellic Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4 )

Found it. We actually went to look for it when the cache was placed,
only to find the posted coords were obviously wrong. The cache placer
corrected the coordinates, but this time I waited for someone else to
find it, not wanting to repeat my previous experience. I got to the cache
by going straight up the hill. I was hanging on the hill, trying to keep
from sliding down. I heard voices nearby, so was trying to be quiet. The
little box kept talking. I eventually completed my log, and closed up the
box. I left the cache site, by continuing up the hill, and come back down
another path.

Note 17 Jun 2002    Issaquah In Perinton  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I checked the cache tonight, and it is fine. I double checked the coords, and they are good. I did get my feet a little wet, but my knees were high and dry!

Note 02 Jun 2002    The Leprechaun's Treasure  ( Difficulty: 5    Terrain: 3 )

Yes, the I decided to leave the cache in place. So by all means, have another crack at it.

Note 01 Jun 2002    Message in a Bottle  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

If it takes 30 minutes of searching to find the first part of a multi part
cache, then the difficulty is too low. If the difficulty was higher, I may
have spent longer searching. But with a 2 difficulty, it should easy to
find.

I found it! 01 Jun 2002    ROCHESTER AND AREA CACHERS GET-TOGETHER!  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Had a blast. Otter and Issaquah Puppy had fun too. Wished I could have been there the whole time, but that is how things work out sometimes. My being gone, probably made the people more obsessed, and look longer, and harder for the Lepracaun's Treasure. If I had been there, I am sure they would have come to me for hints much sooner, and ruined the hunt. It was interesting to be pretty much dragged down the to cache area, and forced to give clues. It was interesting playing hot/cold until someone found the cache. I thought it was hilarious when a couple of the guys found the cache amongst all the people, only to hide it again, and wander off. Various people cursing my name convinced that I pulled a dirty trick such as burying the cache, and not placing one at all. It was great, putting faces to the names.
I will be hard pressed to come up with a cache to compare with this one for next years GT, but I have some ideas! Evil nasty ideas! hehehe :)

I couldn 31 May 2002    Message in a Bottle  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I spent over 20 minutes looking for the bottle without success. Either coords are way
off, but I did search surrounding area, difficulty is too low, or bottle is gone.

I found it! 29 May 2002    Goose Poop Trail  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

I first read about this cache last night about 11pm. Since it was close to my house, I grabbed Issaquah Puppy, and we headed out. I hadn't grabbed the print out. I drove around, but couldn't find entrance to trail. I was tired, and had to work today, so we headed home. I met HFJohn earlier today, so I knew he had already found it. Issaquah and I headed out earlier tonight (about 9:30ish pm). Having read the cache details, I knew where to look for trail. I still didn't see the trail start. But when I got out of car, and shined my headlamp around, I saw the small sign. It was raining, and dark. We headed in after cache. We saw a rabbit, numerous frogs, and various geese. Took a few minutes of shining light around to locate cache. I was busy signing cache, and puppy was standing on nearby log. As I was closing cache up, I hear a splash. I look over to see Issa had fallen into fast flowing creek, and was struggling to gain a foot hold. I dropped cache, and rushed over, taking slack out of leash, but she had managed to climb onto a log, and make her way back to shore. I re-hid cachebox, and we headed back out to car.

I recommend experienced cachers try night caching. It adds a new experience, and challenge to caching. This was a fun cache, and an excellent hunt for my 100th find on geocaching.com!

I found it! 25 May 2002    THE HAIR SALON CACHE  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

We found it! This one was tricky as my GPS would point to the other side of the fence. When I went over to that side of the fence, it would point on the opposite side again. I finally looked around for likely hiding spots, and found it. Thanks for the hunt!

I found it! 24 May 2002    Brandi's Buzzard Bate  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

Been there, done it. Saw it on Navicache.com last night, and then on the other site this morning, so decided to go after before work. A little longer walk than I anticipated. Oh well. Thanks for the hunt!

When are they going to finish that bridge?

I found it! 22 May 2002    1K Sanctuary  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Found it! I actually looked for it briefly last year, but didn't find it. I hadn't had a copy of the cache details, and wasn't sure if the coords were right. I went back today, and found it easily. I was close, but in a slightly different spot than I was looking in before, so I am pretty sure the coords may have had one of the least significant digits misentered. I signed the log, and snapped a pic on the camera. I didn't take/leave anything. Pretty muddy out there right now. Thanks!

I found it! 21 May 2002    dig in my garden cache  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

A buddy and I went hunting for this cache during our lunch break. My GPS was pointing me near the fence, but then slowly starting pointing me in different directions. I looked around, and thought, where would be a good hiding place. I went searched the spot, and found the cache. Thanks for a good hunt!

I found it! 20 May 2002    Earth Day Celebration '02  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

We had just finished Rattlesnake Pete's cache, and made our way over here. Thought the rating was a little low. I would put it about 1.5/1.5 at least. I am glad I didn't come to look for the cache in my work clothes.

I found it! 20 May 2002    Cracker-Barrel Keepsake  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

We found it! With all the rains, the last 30 feet were through foot deep water. There was NO WAY I was going to be that close, and go away without getting the find! I walked to the cache along the river trails, and walked back along the old Conrail Railway. Met a nice lady that lived along there, and had a nice talk/walk with her.

I found it! 19 May 2002    Carthage Landing Cache  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 4 )

I had just done Seth Green cache, and thought I could come straight
here, but found otherwise. I ended up going back up to road, and then
coming straight down the hill to cache spot. I thought coords were off. I
grabbed some coords and have included them. They are averaged, but I
wasn't getting WAAS averaging. N 43 11.244 W 77 37.456

I found it! 19 May 2002    My Cache Goes Where the Wild Goose Goes  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2.5 )

I was in the area and decided to go after the cache. It raining a little
bit, but oh well. Found the cache without too much trouble. What the
heck is that little lawn tractor that is out there?

I found it! 07 May 2002    LET'S PLAY CACHE  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

I found it! The park is very close to my work, and I have been there, but I was not familiar with that trail. Very cool! Some great scenery back there. My knee has been aching due to a sports injury, and irritating further when I went hiking in another park to plant a couple caches. So I limped to and from the cache. I swapped some where georges, left a compass, and took the egg puzzle. On my way out, I was asked to take a photo of a nice young couple. As long as the camera takes picture somewhat true to the view finder, I think they will be pleased with the composition, with the flowing creek behind them. Thanks for the hunt, and introducing me to the trail.

Note 05 May 2002    Blair Witch  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

We headed off this morning to find the cache. When we got about half a
mile away from cache, the trail seemed to dissappear. My wife said she
would wait for Issaquah Puppy and I at that spot. I marked spot on GPS,
and Issaquah Puppy and I headed on. We got only about 50 feet when
my GPS flashed a low battery warning. I opened up GPS, and replaced
batteries with fresh set, but then my GPS wouldn't start up. I kept
getting a screen of random dots. Even the buttons didn't do anything. I
popped out the batteries (which were inserted correctly!), and then put
them back in, but couldn't get anything but the dots. Finally I gave up. I
got my wife, and we headed back to car. When we got back to car, I
tried the GPS, and it booted up no problem. I will come back and try this
cache again sometime in the future.

Note 02 May 2002    ROCHESTER AND AREA CACHERS GET-TOGETHER!  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Shoot! I really want to go, but just realized another thing I want to go to/should go to is happening that same day, and time. Not sure yet.

I found it! 27 Apr 2002    Cache Jubilee  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 3 )

Issaquah Puppy and I found it the other morning. My wife stayed in the car not wanting to do a 3 star terrain cache. Perosnally, I thought the ratings were too high! I would rate it only maybe 2/1.5! The coords were little off, but close enough.

Note 27 Apr 2002    A Hawks View  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

I think I had the right place, but the trails leading in the direction of the cache had signs saying 'staff only'. I talked to a guy there that was busy banding birds. They currently have nets up to catch birds so they can get statistics on the number of birds coming through the area, and was concerned about people walking through, that they might scare birds into the nets, and skew the statistics.

Note 21 Apr 2002    So...Where is George ?  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

So...Where is George? That's the question! I never found the cache. I searched all the pines I found. but nothing. I decoded the clue, and searched somemore, but again nothing. I gave up. You might check this one Quinn.

I found it! 21 Apr 2002    CARON S CACHE  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

I had done Pink Panther cache last year, so I knew the area. We found the cache area pretty easily, though my GPS said the coords pointed to open grass area. I looked around and found the spot where a cache most likely to be, and found it there. (40 feet from where my GPS said the coords were).

I found it! 21 Apr 2002    George - George...George of the Jungle!  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

We found it pretty easily. Ran part of the way, as I needed to be in Bergen in about 45 minutes. Thanks for the hunt!

I found it! 21 Apr 2002    Dog Chow Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2.5 )

I found it. I couldn't find park entrance (in fact map showed country club or something, and I found a golf ball nearby), but found a place to park a few hundred feet from cache. I ran into the woods, tripped, and bashed my knee. Got scratched a bit. Cache area doesn't not seem like an ideal picnic place. Signed log book, and headed back to car. Didn't take anything except bruises.

I found it! 20 Apr 2002    Dudes on the loose!  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

Issaquah Puppy, Otter, and I found it without too much trouble. It was a nice peaceful walk. Thanks for the hunt!

I couldn 20 Apr 2002    "A", "B", Seabreeze (2-parter)  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Yardboy, you might want to check this cache. We attempted this cache today, and found the key number. Did the math, and walked to the nearby cache site. There were were several fisherman nearby, so I looked, while trying to appear casual. The coords appear to be about 20 feet off the bank. But I searched the bank, and found nothing. It is pretty public in the area. I think it might be gone. Another off the wall idea...maybe the key number changed?

I found it! 19 Apr 2002    The Tao of Funky Monkey  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Issaquah Puppy and I found it. A bit of a challenge. A major hurdle, but got past it. LOTS OF LITTLE BUGS!!!! I think I swallowed one, and started coughing for a while. I thought coords were a little off. These are what I got: 43* 09.850 077* 26.544. I signed log book, and left pen with cache. Thanks for the hunt.

Note 19 Apr 2002    The Troll's Treasure  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 4.5 )

It's still there, and coords are good.

Note 15 Apr 2002    Watch out for Private Property!  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

After a report that the cache was out in the open, I checked it, and found it in the place where it was supposed to be. I took the time to get a new set of coordinates, on my newer, more accurate GPS unit (thanks yet again Quinn, I love it), and tweaked them on the cache listing.

I found it! 14 Apr 2002    The rainy day cache  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2.5 )

Otter, Issaquah Puppy were the first to find the cache. A nice mellow walk, and then trek through the woods and brush. Found it in short time. Took a wheres george, and left a calculator.
Thanks for the hunt!

I found it! 13 Apr 2002    Durand Discovery 1  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

What a pain! Issaquah Puppy and I went to do this cache today while it was pouring rain. I didn't visit the sites in order. The first one I visited was the cork tree. That was pretty cool. The second site I visited, I found no tagged trees, nor any rhodys. There didn't seem to be any displayed trees like the cork tree, or other trees I had seen. So I started looking for the cache. I spent almost half an hour looking for a logs that a 50 cal ammo box could fit in, but I couldn't find any that large that seemed to be close enough to the coords. I started looking under logs. and trees, and found nothing. I came to the conclusion that maybe this wasn't the place. I went to another site, and found an obviously displayed tree, but it wasn't tagged either. I went to the next place, and after slipping in the mud on a slope, I found the correct cache site. It was raining, so I made a brief log entry. Sorry about the mud on the log book.

I found it! 12 Apr 2002    MOTHER-IN-LAWS WALK  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

I found it at 9:30pm. I decided this was a good cache to try out my new Princeton Tec Vortec headlamp. Very cool. Also very spooky walking through the woods in the dark.
My GPS was bouncing around a little bit, but I figured where the cache was hidden, just needed to find the specific spot. I took a picture of Issaquah Puppy and I with the cache camera. I think we might be the first picture as the camera didn't seem to be wound at all. So if you see a photo of a guy with a light on his head, with a dog. That is us.

Note 01 Apr 2002    ROCHESTER AND AREA CACHERS GET-TOGETHER!  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

Issaquah Puppy and I will be there.

I found it! 31 Mar 2002    Iroquois Transplanted  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Found it! I was visiting Quinn, when he tells me that Gimpy had just put
a cache online at Navicache within the last few minutes. When I left
Quinn's, I headed straight for the new cache. I found it quickly with my
new Map 330 (Thanks Quinn!) I took a pair of Ponchos, and left a
watch. Thanks Gimpy!

I found it! 31 Mar 2002    Valley Of The Inukshuk  ( Difficulty: 4.5    Terrain: 4.5 )

I found it eventually! Rippie, your email with hints to find it, totally messed me up. I climbed all over that tree like a monkey without any luck! I ended up reading the cache description again, and found it with in 30 seconds. My GPS units were bouncing all over the place down there, but people should be able to find it using the description of the location.

I found it! 30 Mar 2002    Down in the Dumps  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I had already been to the no exit cache so I knew where it was. Issaquah Puppy and I made our way the cache site, got the coordinates of the Down In The Dumps cache. We got back into the car, and drove to the parking lot which was alittle closer. We made our way along the muddy trails, and found the cache. Making our way out, we passed some people, but I didn't see a GPS unit, but I was suspicious that they were that close to the cache site on those muddy trails. Maybe incognito geocachers?

I found it! 30 Mar 2002    Hawthorn  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Took us a while to find the way to the cache. We first walked this way, then that way, and then back the first way. Then we started trying to make our way straight to the cache through the swamp, but then turned around. Issaquah Puppy and I eventually found our way around the swamp. 40 feet from what trail?

I found it! 30 Mar 2002    I Heard it on the Grapevine  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I had just done the Deer Crossing cache which was 4/10 of a mile from my car. I knew Grapevine was about 6/10 of a mile from my car, but was 8/10 of a mile from Deer Crossing. I decided to heck with it, and Issaquah Puppy and I headed in a straight line to Grapevine. The first 4/10 mile were bushwhacking. Then we got on to a trail which took us a ways, but then we got off of it as it was starting to lead us away. So more bushwhacking. After more trails, and bushwhacking, we found the cache. I used my GPS to guide to where I thought the road would be, and sure enough, we found the road, and walked back to our car.

I found it! 30 Mar 2002    Deer Crossing  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I parked at recommended spot, and Issaquah Puppy and I made our way to the cache. Got into the area of the cache, but it took a bit of searching to actually find the cache. Was the box painted gray specifically to hide it well in this terrain? Thanks!

I found it! 29 Mar 2002    Heron Bay  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

Another first find! I think they will become more difficult to get once the weather warms up, and stays light later into the evening. I went and did the hunt during my lunch hour, but it took longer than I anticipated. I don't really recommend this for a lunch hour hunt, at least in business clothes. Oh well. Had fun, and signed the log book. I even drew an aweful little sketch. I keep thinking of getting a little stamp made, but just haven't gotten around to it. Thanks for the hunt!

I found it! 29 Mar 2002    Webster 2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I finally made it up to hunt this cache. I just haven't had time, or been up in the area. I thought the terrain rating was a little high. Issaquah Puppy and I walked down the path, and found we were on the wrong side of the creek. I picked up Issaquah, and carried her as I walked across a fallen tree. My GPS was messing with me, but I ended up finding the cache at the one place my GPS was telling me it wasn't. Left some screw driver bits, and took a flashlight. Took a phot of Issa with the cache camera. Thanks Gimpy!

I found it! 29 Mar 2002    Don Quixote`s Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4.5 )

Issaquah Puppy and I found the cache. I was pretty tired after making my way down the muddy slope. Took me a while to find the cache as my GPS was all over the place, but I found it. Issaquah was busy running up and down the slope. We made our was back up the hill. I was drenched in sweat by the time I made it to the top. For a good workout, I recommend going straight down the hill to the cache, and straight back up again, especially if it is a little muddy.

I found it! 27 Mar 2002    Maple Grove Cache  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Yep, you beat me Rippie. Found it pretty easily. Another nice lunchtime cache. It is in a pretty public spot, so I was trying to hurry, so no passersby would spot me at the cache site. Thanks for the hide.

I found it! 24 Mar 2002    Cacher's Cache Can  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Found the cache eventually. MY GPS was bouncing around in there. I looked for the clue, and was not finding the cache. Then realized I came in from a different direction from the trail, and then when I reversed orientation, I found the cache. Thanks for the hunt!

[last edit: 3/25/2002 4:15:20 AM PST]

I found it! 16 Mar 2002    McCrackenville Cache  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Spent 20 minutes trying to find it yesterday, and was not able to. After getting an additional clue as to how to find the cache, I went back today, and found it quickly. Thanks much!

I found it! 16 Mar 2002    Lower Falls And The Old Glen House cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

We must have just missed Lowerfalls. Issaquah Puupy and I found cache probably around 11:30ish. Thought difficulty & terrain rating were a touch high. I would have put it about 3.0/3.5.

I found it! 16 Mar 2002    PEZ Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4.5 )

My GPS was bouncing all over the place down by the cache telling me it was 90 feet this, no wait 86 feet this other way, etc etc. So I pulled the printout out of my pocket, and saw the clue about the boulder, and realized, I had walked past it a half dozen times. I quickly found it after that. Took a pez toy, and left a glow stick. Issaquah Puppy had alot of fun playing near the cache site.

I found it! 16 Mar 2002    Rear View Mirror Cache  ( Difficulty: 4    Terrain: 4.5 )

Issaquah Puppy and I just finished the PEZ cache, and saw this one was very close. We headed for it, and GPS continued to bounce all around. We were halfway up the hill, and my GPS started telling me it was down the hill (to heck with going back down after climbing up). I looked around couldn't find it. We climbed up the hill, and headed back to the car, got the printout of cache page, and saw the info I needed. We headed back down the hill, and I found the cache in short order. Issaquah Puppy was having fun running up and down the hills as I logged our find. NOTE: my dog Issaquah Puppy (an Airedale Terrier) had no problem with the terrain. I wish I was as good at climbing as her. So feel free to bring your dog if it is good in rough steep terrain. Issaquah has been on dozens of geocaches with me, and has had no problems except for a grated bridge that her paws would fit through (probably with practice, she could handle that too).

I found it! 16 Mar 2002    The Great Genesee River Deer Run  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

This was Issaquah Puppy and my 5th and last cache for the day. I am very tired after all the climbing I did on almost every cache. Found the cache without any problems. Didn't take anything, or leave anything. Thanks!

I found it! 12 Mar 2002    High Falls Cache -That I can do and I will- Sam P.  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

I was the first! Yeah! I went and found it on my lunch hour! Pretty easy cache for lunchtime business people within quick driving distance of downtown. Going to the cache was a last hour thing, so didn't have any trinkets, so didn't leave any, didn't take any. Thanks for the hunt!

I found it! 23 Feb 2002    Discombobulated Universe (retired)  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

If you want Discombobulated, try finding this cache after dark like Issaquah Puppy and I did. We found it, but I got very disoriented in there with only a flaslight beam, and juggling a gps, compass, flashlight, and holding a leash. Found it after about 10 or 15 minutes. Was a little disappointed that I wasn't the first (Caron & Quinn visited the cache this morning, and logged it on Navicache.com). Thanks for the challenge!

I found it! 10 Feb 2002    Return to Earth  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Found it. We parked at recommended area. Had a lot of fun. There don't seem to be any trails going from where we parked to the cache, so most of it was find ing a trail, taking it as far as it would take closer to the cache, then bushwacking our way to another trail, and repeating the process. The whole procedure was repeated on the way out. Down toward the cache, the ground very muddy, and very slippery! I took a photo of Issaquah Puppy with the cache camera.

I found it! 27 Jan 2002    An 'Erie' Place  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Issaquah Puppy and I found the cache this morning without any trouble. I had to carry Issa across the grated bridge, and carried across the smaller bridge (over the lock gate) as well. The cache might be a little too visible, and might be seen by casual passers-by. You might consider moving it to a slightly more concealed spot. In the wake of Sept 11, the location of the cache, and the look of the cache, it might cause some concern.

I found it! 06 Jan 2002    Geodecache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

I thought I would be first, but a couple of people found it before me. I don't know if I took one of the paths that the cacher had planned. I had to cross a frozen over creek. I wasn't sure how thick the ice was, so I had to wander along the creek till I found a place to cross. Found the cache without too much difficulty. Thanks for a great hide!

I found it! 04 Nov 2001    Avon Calling Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

Last night, I had seen that Gimpy had planted a new cache Greenway Trail Cache, so Issaquah Puppy and I headed out this morning, and were the first to find it. When we got home, I noticed that Gimpy had planted another cache (this one). So this afternoon, we headed out to find it too. I found the parking spot, and thought that there must be a closer spot. After driving around a bit, I found that there really wasn't (without parking where you are probably not supposed to, or trespassing on private property). The weather was nice. We hiked in, and shortly before getting to the cache location (about .15mi away), I noticed a storm coming in the distance. We hurried to the cache, found it (we were the first again), made a brief log, and headed out (left nothing, took nothing). The wind kicked up, and we started running toward the car then came the rain, and then the lightning, and thunder, and hail. Issaquah Puppy was a bit freaked, and wanted to hide in the bushes. I drug her for a ways while she was putting on the brakes. She eventually decided it was easier just to walk. We made back to the car, though a bit wet. Gimpy, did you plan the location with the idea that people would look for an easier way in, and not find it? You're cruel!

I found it! 02 Nov 2001    Badge Adventure cache!  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Went hunting with a friend (we'll call him Korik). We found it! I like the twist part. It was a challenge to find the box. Good hide! I took the tool, and the Mystery Theater CD, and left an aluminum flashlight, and book on tape of Politically Correct holiday stories.
Thanks for a good hide.

Note 01 Nov 2001    Badge Adventure cache!  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

I have made two attempts at this cache. The first time, I searched the area, and found nothing. The second time, I looked at the picture clue and headed back, and found nothing in the area of the coordinates that looked like the picture. I even used both my GPS units (etrex, and Mag 315). You gave some vague hints that there may be a twist or something, so I was even searching for notes that might point to the actual location. Either the coordinates are WAY off, or the 'easy' designation is wrong. Hey Quinnow, check to make sure you didn't transpose some digits. The place my GPS(s) consistantly led me to was right by the parking lot, and then just inside the corner of the fenced area (after going through the hole in the fence).

I found it! 01 Nov 2001    Greenway Trail Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

We were first! Issaquah Puppy and I headed out this semi-summer like morning, and found the cache. I snapped a picture of the two of us with the cache camera, and then I signed the log, and signed one of the quilt squares. I took the two where's georges, and left a wheres george, and a non wheres george bill. Nice cache Gimpy, thanks!

I found it! 27 Oct 2001    Pink Panther  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

This was the first of three caches I found today. It was a bit of a long walk, but I found the cache without too much trouble. I left a brief log entry as I wanted to hit 2 more caches while there was still light.

I found it! 27 Oct 2001    Creeks Edge Cache!  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

This was my third, and last cache of the day. It was nice to have one with a shorter walk. I got close to the cache, and was following my gps. I got to where my GPS said it was 4 feet away, which usually means its somewhere within 20-30 feet. I was looking around wondering where it might be, when I noticed Issaquah Puppy sniffing a partially hidden black box 2 feet from my boots. So technically Issaquah Puppy found it. Her first! I took a pocket knife, and left a Hunt For Red October book.

I found it! 21 Oct 2001    Maps Maiden  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I found it. I was not sure if the cache was still there as there appears to have been some recent bulldozing to withing about 100 feet of cache. It was pretty muddy and wet through the bulldozed area. I found the cache and signed the log.

I found it! 21 Oct 2001    Northhampton Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1 )

On my way to cache a thunder storm started with lightning and pouring rain. I hurried the cache site, and had a heck of a time locating it. I got soaked trying, but finally found it. I signed log briefly as it was raining, and the book was getting a little damp. I left a traveller named Bernie who is heading west towards Renton, WA.

I found it! 20 Oct 2001    Highpoint  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I was in the area doing Canadice II, and finding a waypoint for a multipart cache, and decided to do this one. To a bit to find the best place to start. We had met a stray dog, and little later met a lady looking for the dog. As I started for the cache, the dog found me, and started following Issaquah Puppy and me. I ran into a family heading back to the parking lot, and got them to take the dog back out of the woods. I radioed my wife at the car, and she caught the dog. I found the cache, and head back out. We loaded the dog into the car, and were going to drive it to Churchville where his tag said he lived, when we ran into his owner again, and turned him over. Good thing as the Churchville address turned out to be his old address. I took tennis ball for Issaquah Puppy, and left a Yo Yo.

I found it! 19 Oct 2001    Graveyard Grumble Part 1 of 2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I finished the first part in about 15 minutes.

I found it! 19 Oct 2001    Graveyard Grumble Part 2 of 2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

The first part went fast, but the second half was much slower. I made several mistakes in my arithmetic that threw me off by 500 feet in one case, and 100 feet in another. I did manage to finish both parts in about an hour. ALOT OF WORK! WOW!

I found it! 18 Oct 2001    Night Stalker Part 1 of 2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

Found it. It just doesn't register who he might have been.

I found it! 18 Oct 2001    Night Stalker Part 2 of 2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

This was a fun cache. I did both parts during my lunch hour. This part, I took one path in, and another path out. Nice little place. I had to get back to work, so my log entry was brief. The hardest part was getting the cache box open as the lid was sticking. Really had to muscle it.

I found it! 14 Oct 2001    Planes, Trains and Automobiles  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 3.5 )

I was a little nervous during one part due to the high winds, and I was carrying Issaquah Puppy, and affraid my Geocaching.com hat was going to blow off into the canal. Pretty easy going after that. I found cache, and placed Garff traveller here, and took yoyo (mostly to make room for Garff), and a Wheres George bill. The trip back was easier as I took my hat off, and put it into my backpack.

I found it! 14 Oct 2001    Isabel's Part 1 of 2  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

I found her. She was in a playful mood and insisted that I play hide & seek before she gave me the numbers. But I caught her, and I got the numbers.

I found it! 14 Oct 2001    Gypsum Mine  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I parked at the suggested place, and was about .3 mi away with no visible way of going that direction. I met a couple coming down the trail, and they said the path going that direction was a mile down the trail. I said heck with, as it was starting to rain also. I drove down, but decided to check out another parking area I knew of. I found a place to park much closer to the cache, and was able to get a much more direct route to cache, that involved walking across the creek on rocks. Got my feet a little wet, but I got to the cache. I was short on time as I had to be someplace so I made brief entry in the log, and left. I didn't take anything, or leave anything. I wish I had noticed the CBS mystery radio CDs. They would have been cool!

I found it! 14 Oct 2001    Isabel's Treasure Part 2 of 2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I had just done the Gypsum Mine cache via an alternate route. This left me about a quarter mile from the cache, and I had done part 1 before the Gypsum Mine. But I didn't have time to do it, and decided to do it another day. As I was driving, I noticed my GPS showed I was under 500 feet away. I saw a small parking area, and walked across some railroad tracks, and back into some trees, and found the cache. I finally found the answer to why I needed the numbers. VERY CLEVER! Thanks! I swapped Wheres Georges.

I found it! 13 Oct 2001    Bristol Mountain Madness  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 4.5 )

This was the 2nd of 4 caches today. I thought geez this is pretty easy. The trails were pretty nice. I got within .12 miles of the cache, and did not see any trails going that way. Issaquah Puppy and I left Otter in one of the open fields hoping she wouldn't get shot by the hunter we saw prowling around. We tried to use our FRS radios to keep in touch but the batteries were dead. I wished I was wearing bright orange. I started bushwacking...actually it was crawling up small rabbit runs under thorned vines. I did this for almost 100 feet then I ran into a trail. I followed the trail up, and a couple small offshoots later Issaquah Puppy and I found the cache. I left a book, and took a Wheres George dollar. I followed the trails back and easily found my way out without facing the thorns again.

I found it! 05 Oct 2001    Hogan's Hero's  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

I went and found it on my lunch hour without too much trouble. Unless it is wet out, this one is fine for that kind of thing. My GPS was just starting to lead me around in circles in the area, when I spotted the guard snake. I carefully pulled out the cache box so as not to anger him. I signed the log book, and snapped a photo of me. (I am the tall, dark, and handsome one).

I found it! 01 Oct 2001    Tinker Toy Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

On my second visit to the park I left Issaquah Puppy at home, and actually got to look for the cache this time. I found the area without much trouble, but GPS was being a little wacky under the trees. I used my compass, and got a bearing, and that helped. A very nice cache for a lunch break from work. I took a wheres george, and left another one in it's place.

I found it! 30 Sept 2001    Genesee River Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 2 )

I had just done Seneca Trails cache, and had some time still so I decided to do this one. It is only about 1/2 mile from the the Seneca Trails cache as the crow flies, but unless you are a crow, don't try it as it is across the river. I knew this so we drove around, and had a nice walk down the path. My GPS was going nuts under the trees pointing this way, and that way. I kept going in the same direction, and was in the right spot. I saw a suspicious rock, and thought it might be under there, but followed my GPS for a few more seconds, until Otter also pointed out the rock. I looked under the rock, and found the cache. It is packed pretty tightly. I took a map, and left a CD-ROM (Links I think).

I found it! 30 Sept 2001    No Exit  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

I just did Morgan's Adventure, and then came here. I was not planning to do any caches but so a couple in the area so decided to hit them while I had daylight. I passed this on the road, and thought it might be under the tree in field. I found the trail, and walked back. My GPS was saying the cache was in the brush, but I didn't see it. The tree was about 60-75 feet from where my GPS said it was, but I decided to look over, and sure enough I found it by the tree. I had no trinkets with me, so I left nothing, and took nothing except a picture of me with the camera (I am the sweaty one as I jogged to the cache). I signed the log book.

I found it! 30 Sept 2001    Morgans Adventure  ( Difficulty: 1.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

Pretty easy. I jogged most of the way from the parking lot to the cache. I search for the cache on the spur of the moment so didn't have any trinkets with me so I didn't take anything either. I signed the log book. The camera in the cache is at the end of the roll so if you want to get it developed...

I found it! 30 Sept 2001    Seneca Trails  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I found it without too much trouble. My GPS said it was about 20-30 feet away from where it was, but there were not too many places to hide a cache around there.

I found it! 23 Sept 2001    Brodies Box  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I visited this one a little late. Dusk was coming so I couldn't go in through the gate that I thought would get me close to the cache for fear they would lock the gate. SO I had to park about .4 mi away. We (Izza Puppy and I) started to the cache hiking through trees and brush. My GPS was giving me confusing readings under the trees but I found the cache just as I was about to give up and try later in better light. I found the cache, made a VERY brief log entry. I left CDROM (Star Wars Rebel Forces demo), and took an small stuffed animal. Then I picked up Izza Puppy, and hauled butt out of the trees to a main trail I crossed while I could still see anything resembling a path, and followed back to the road, and then walked the road back to the parking lot. I GOTTA STOP THESE DUSK-TIME GEOCACHES!

I found it! 23 Sept 2001    Ghost's Domain  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

I parked on Zoo rd, and hiked to cache without trouble. I thought it was interesting that near cache looked like a road, but I am not sure if it was a service road, or a public road. I left a Glidden Paint CDROM, and took a Wheres George.

I found it! 23 Sept 2001    Ghost's Revenge!  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I first visited Ghost's Domain, and that was a nice walk. On one of the nearby paths, my GPS was showing only .4 mi to Ghosts Revenge, but I thought we might find a short walk from the road. We drove around and found another parking spot (on Zoo Rd), that was about .5 mi away. Otter, Izza Puppy, and I started walking. we came to a steep downhill, and Otter said she would wait for us. Izza and I start hiking, and after climbing up hills, down hills, crossing a road, and crossing two bogs, we found the cache. Down below I saw what looked like yet another green moss covered bog. I kept hearing throaty sounding cars nearby as well but could see any road. I took a GPS book, signed the log book saying I was going to leave a CDrom, and 3 $1 bills. I took a diffrent route back follow a path came to a road, and followed that back around retrieved Otter. I then realized I forgot to leave the stuff in the Cache. We drove around and found a couple closer places to park near the cache. We parked near a golf course. My GPS said the cache was .25 mi across the course so I being nice walk around the course. I found the cache again only 40 feet away from the fairway. Evidently the green moss covered bog I saw below was actually a golf course, and the cars I was hear were golf carts. I was very tired at this point. I left the stuff I had intended to leave in the first place. I can use the book.

I found it! 22 Sept 2001    Mendon Ponds Cache  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I found it without much trouble. I thought the difficulty was overstated. The only tough terrain was that short scramble up the hill from the trail but that is not far.
I left a CDROM, and a dollar bill, and took 2 batteries, and a Pez dispenser. I took a picture of Izza Puppy, and signed the log.

I found it! 22 Sept 2001    Mendon Ponds #2  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I thought the terrain on this one was tougher that Gimpy's other Mendon Ponds Park cache which has a higher rated difficulty. There is not really a trail to this one that I found, mostly small animal runs. I left a CDROM, and took a Wheres George, and signed the log book.

I found it! 20 Sept 2001    Egyptian Hike  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I found it on my second try. The first time I had my wife, and puppy, and got within 150 feet, but they were tired, and not up for the little bit of bushwacking to get back to the cache. I left my wife home today, but brought the puppy, and made it back to the cache. I took a wheres george bill, and left a book. I signed the log, and took a picture of puppy Izza.

I found it! 16 Sept 2001    Mendon Ponds Deer  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1 )

I didn't see deer run, but found a small dirt road going in from other side. We (me, my dad, and my puppy) followed the road, and got to within 200 feet of cache. We then walked through tree, and fallen timber. I almost stepped on cache as it appeared when I was thinking it was still 20 or 30 feet ahead. I signed log, and took picture, but wasn't expecting to do this cache today so didn't have anything to leave, so I didn't, and I didn't take anything either.

I found it! 13 Sept 2001    Joannes Trek  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I finsihed Wadham's Walk, and then came here. It was touch climb up the one hill, but did it without stopping. I saw later I could have gone around, but oh well. I found it without any wrong turns. I am getting better at this stuff. I left a small level, and took a transformer toy. I also got picture with cache camera of me and my puppy. I think the battery is dead as the flash wouldn't seem to charge. Hopefully it comes out.

I found it! 13 Sept 2001    Wadham's Walk  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 3 )

Found it without too much trouble. I brought my puppy, and got a picture of both of us with the cache camera. Took gardening gloves, and left a Patricia Cornwell book. This was a fun hike.

I found it! 12 Sept 2001    Gimpys Walk  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I visited this one on my lunch hour. Took a little longer than anticipated, and came back to work sweatier than anticipated. I took a buddy of mine with me, and got in the right area, but he actually found the box. I left 3 $1 bils, and took a karate key chain, and a wheres george dollar.

I found it! 11 Sept 2001    Crescent Hill  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1.5 )

I found it on my second trip. I got a late start on my first try, and as I walked around where my etrex said it was, I found nothing. But dusk set in quickly to where I wouldn't have seen if it was right in front of me, so I gave up that night. I tried again tonight with a little earlier start, and got up there with more light, and managed to find it. According to my etrex it was about 25 feet uphill from ground zero. I am getting a Magellan 315 soon (it was shipped today). It has averaging, and may do better in the woods than my etrex. I took a small level, and left a movie database cdrom.

I found it! 10 Sept 2001    Sams Surprise  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 1.5 )

I liked this one. I found it without too much difficulty, and was able to bring my wife, and puppy along instead of leaving them at a trail head as I start bushwacking my way in. I took a picture of us with the camera from the cache, though I am pretty sure I forgot to wind it. I left a space blanket, and took a bugs bunny Pez dispenser.

I found it! 09 Sept 2001    Gimpys Linear  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

I found it! This was my first gecache find. I am not very good at it yet. I waded across the creek at least 4 times, only to find I didn't need to. I think I may have brushed against some poison ivy. Oh well. It was fun. I left a Earth stress ball, and took a space blanket. Didn't see a camera in there, but signed the log book.
