Cache has been archived.

I found it! 06 Aug 2005    The Right Triangle  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1.5 )

The whole time I was doing this cache, I kept expecting someone to yell, "hey what are you doing on our property?" I must have come on a slow day, as there was no one around. I took the Sponge Bob bubbles and left a Team Ferret coin. Thanks for the cache.

I found it! 16 Apr 2005    Dead Legend  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 1.5 )

We have been wanting to check out these trails, but never got her until today. Great place to have a cache. It was fun to cache with Crazy Kosix, FoxPro and Team Proline!
We took the Prowler die cast and left a Geo button. Thanks for a fun cache!

I found it! 31 Mar 2005    (Big) Island Hoppin' in Oz  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 2 )

We saw this one listed around noon and we went out and found part 1 without too much trouble. We had to go way out of our way to find part 2! Very well done! Later in the evening, after getting back from part 2 we found part 3. We took the Mastodon skeleton and left a Geo button and Bruce travel bug. Thanks for a cache with a cool twist to it.

I found it! 28 Nov 2004    It's HUGE!  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 1 )

This cache is in one of my favorite places to take pictures of trains. If you have never been to this town, you'll be amazed at what you'll see! Not only is the object huge, it's the largest of its kind in the world! We emailed the owner a pic of Mark with the object. Thanks for a cache in a place I(Mark) love to go to.

I found it! 19 Jul 2004    White Deer of Seneca Lake  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

We were on our way home and finally saw a deer closer to the fence than we have before. The shots aren't great because we were in a hurry to get home. Couldn't get the deer to raise her head. =(

Thanks! The history of the area is facinating!

I found it! 19 Jul 2004    Blind Pew  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2.5 )

We can't believe we are the first to find this! It has been listed almost a week before we found it. As always for us, there is nothing better then caching in the Finger Lakes! It was so nice to walk along Seneca Lake and hear the water. We didn't have too much trouble finding the cache. We took the peace pin and left a tube of soldiers (fitting for the area), globe key chain and a CITO bag. While we were there a State Park Ranger went by on a golf cart. He didn't seem to notice us or either didn't care. We weren't too concerned as the park is very geocacher friendly. Thank you for putting a cache in one of our favorite areas!

I found it! 18 Jun 2004    Take My Hand  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

I was in town this weekend for the sports car races at the Glen, and had time to find this cache tonite. Got there late in the evening after it had rained. The trail was in poor shape after alot of horseback riders had been on it and the rain made it muddy. Beautiful area for a cache. I'm glad someone finally put a cache here. If I had more time I'd like to come back here to explore the trails more. Cache didn't take long to find, which was a good thing because it was getting dark!!
Took the Buddah figurine and a ring. Left a bag of gold, a mini arrowhead, a globe keychain, and a Jeep TB.

We went to the 23rd Annual Winter Hamfest in Horseheads, NY today. It was held in the New York State National Guard Armory building. We didn't find too much to buy. We got some good zip lock bags for geocaching and a SMA to UHF adaptor. You can't see my Call letter tag very well in the picture, but it says "KC2KHD - Mark".

Thank you to all the NYGO volunteers. I hope we got some new people to join our great hobby today. Had a great time finding the event caches and some of the other caches in and around the park. Ran into some cachers I haven't met and some ones I've met a few times before. Exchanged some TB's also. Thank you for a very nice day.

I found it! 25 Jan 2004    Iroquois Transplanted  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

Did this cache with Craegs and Vargseld after we did Louie the Lizard. I have to admit, it didn't take too long to find, because of foot prints in the snow. Good hiding spot! I took the Lightsaber Dueling pack and left a bag of gold nuggets, a globe key chain and a CITO bag. Thank you for a fun cache.

Finally 400 finds!! Thought we would never reach it! Did this cache with Craegs and Vargseld. The snow was very deep in places do to drifting, and I'm not sure who found it first. I took the Castle Figures and left a Mini Mouse figure. Thanks for a very fun cache Junglehair!

I found it! 11 Jan 2004    Erwin Hollow Hidden Cache  ( Difficulty: 2.5    Terrain: 3.5 )

I think Craegs and us are crazy! After doing the "Erwin Hollow Overlook" cache, we decided since we are in the area, we'll do this one to. We imagine the up hill hike is a challenge when it's warm and dry out. We did it with about 4 inches of snow on the ground, at night in a snowstorm! We thought we would never get to the cache. Craegs thankfully found it within 10 minutes. We took the Hot wheels car and left a bag of gold nuggets, a globe key chain and a Cache In/Trash Out bag. We didn't talk much on the way back. We just wanted to get to the SUV as fast as possible. This is one adventure we won't soon forget. Thank you for this challenging cache.

I found it! 11 Jan 2004    Erwin Hollow Overlook  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 3 )

We did this cache with Craegs. It was dark when we started, but the view of all the lights down below was great. The snow made the up hill trek a little more of a challenge, but not too bad. We had some animals foot prints to follow all the way to within 20 feet of the cache! We took the mini magnetic game and left a bag of gold nuggets, a globe key chain and a Cache In/Trash Out bag. Thanks for a fun cache!

I found it! 03 Jan 2004    Cuyler Constitutional  ( Difficulty: 4.5    Terrain: 3 )

We have wanted to find this cache for some time. Today around 1pm we thought, "Heck let's go do it." We thought there wouldn't much snow like here in the Binghamton area. We were wrong. We were able to get the car just to the State land, but the road was a sheet of ice. We are thinking of buying a 4-wheel drive vehicle! We first hit part 1 of Owl's Delight then went on to this cache. The trails are very wet and in many spots look like a creek. As dark came, it got very foggy. It was strange how the ground was cover in snow, but the air was very warm. Explains the heavy fog. Once in the cache are, we found it without too much trouble. We took a little lizard and cell phone pin and left a Clip on digital clock. We had a lot of trouble getting back. The trail marks aren't very good in spots and we kept going off trail. Thank goodness for the breadcrumb trail on our GPS's. We really felt we earned this cache! Thanks for the adventure.

I found it! 26 Nov 2003    Cayuga Nature Center Challenge  ( Difficulty: 2    Terrain: 2 )

Wow, what a fun cache! When we saw all the math we thought, this wasn't going to be fun, but we were wrong. We had a great time at every part of this cache. Terre wants Waypoint 2! The 1st waypoint was my favorite. We got to see 4 deer and a huge flock of wild turkeys. We took the Lego set and left a Road Runner steering wheel cover, globe key chain and the travel bug Hitchcock's Jamaica Inn DVD. Thanks for the adventure!

Nice cache in a great place. We took the stretch lizards and geo chip. We left a Stackable tin and globe key chain. Thanks.

When I reached the spot to to go get this cache, the Rangers showed up. They ask if I was hunting I said, "no geocaching." They said "oh, we remember you guys from the Geo weekend you had last summer." They said, make sure you wear orange! The cache was in a very nice spot. I took the Spiderman action figure. I left a Yellow protractor, globe key chain, Cache In/Trash Out bag and the travel bug Soaring Eagle.

I did all the steps to get to the final cache. I didn't even notice until I was done that I had all the waypoints in the hint part of the cache print out. I had an interesting tour of the park anyway! Great spot the final cache is in. I took the puzzle, geo chip and travel bug Brando's Humvee. I left a R2-D2 figure, globe key chain and the travel bug Big Seatle Bug. Thanks for the cache.

I found it! 14 Sept 2003    MARKET STREET MICRO  ( Difficulty: 1    Terrain: 1 )

It's been a long time since we have been to Corning and we know one thing, we are coming back real soon. We love this street! Too bad we didn't have more time to walk the whole thing. The street wasn't too busy, but there was just enough people around, so you had to be sneaky. Our GPS took us right to the spot and Terre acted like she was tying her shoes, so she could get a good look! After we found the cache, we walked down the street a bit and signed the log. Thanks for such a fun cache.

I found it! 20 Jul 2003    Cayuga Do It?  ( Difficulty: 3.5    Terrain: 3 )

First off, let us just say to everyone who goes after us, You are Welcome! Ok, now we'll explain. We parked at the given location. Crossing over the bridges was interesting. We found the cache spot and it seemed we couldn't get 2 minutes alone to look for it. Jet skiers kept buzzing through, then some couple in a boat decide to stop and take a break. Now things get a little gross. Someone had used the cache location as there bathroom. As it turned out, they took a number 2 almost on the cache itself! Well we looked every else at first hoping that really wasn't the spot. Oh no, that was the spot! So we got a large stick and pushed away the crappola, plus the socks they wiped with. At last we got the cache! We took the nice Flashlight and left a Coleman Poncho. Just as we hid the cache, 2 kayakers come up. The one said, hey are these your socks in the water, I can get them for you? Of coarse we answerd, NO, No, no! Must say we had one great adventure today! Thanks Wheelgood Team

One thing Terre and I learned long ago was to carry flashlights.(We have had a few frightening walks back in the dark.) As the other teams have said, it was real dark out there. Our 4th cache of the day. We found this one in the dark (8:35pm). Driving over to the area, we must have seen about 35 deer! Wasn't too hard to find even in the dark. The hardest part is jumping over all the down trees. This was the only cache we found in the park that was still hidden well. We took the tape measure and left a puzzle.

Our 3rd cache for the day. We had a nice long hike to this one. We hiked from the Mendon Ponds #2 cache to this one. We got very close when we saw people on the trail below. They kept looking up towards us. They didn't see us and we sat very still until they past. We took the Skittles (we were hungry) and the Stars Wars walker. We left bubbles and 2 Science is fun pencils. Once again we had to hide this cache much better then we found it. Thanks for a great hike.

We came to the observatory at about 8:30 PM, hence the darkish photos. We went inside to inquire about the facilities, and it appears that the observatory is only open once a month in the summer to the public. The rest of the time they have camps for local high school students. They were giving a class on astrophotography while we were there.

Well this was interesting. Elena, who help hide this, brought her father to the area. I believe it was his first cache hunt. We were looking for about 20 minutes before they came upon us. Then there was three of us looking and getting frustrated. We did get one more small clue and found it! We had N42 48.874, W075 54.264. Our GPS's kept fluctuating from all the tall trees. (geocaching in the fall is so much easier :-) ) We took the clear travel bag and left a pack of 4 AA batteries. We hiked to the Highlander's Quest after and we really wished we had taken the water!

Thank you so much for putting it in such a great spot. Really loved the way you hid the ammo can. We took the Wood Train (coolest item I ever found) and the bubble pipe. We left a Koosh ball and a Feather pen. We also left the Geo Bug Icicle. This bug is suppose to go to Colorado, I hope it makes it! Had a great time finding this one.

I found it! 30 Mar 2002    ANDREA'S CHARM  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

We Found it!!!!! This was our third try. The first two times it turned out someone took the cache. We are so happy to know it's back in it's right place. We took a Chinese $10 bill and Black snake fireworks. We left Silly putty and a small orange Koosh ball. We also took the Travel Bug, Icicle, and plan on putting it in the next cache we find west of here. On this trip we took my 7 year old nephew and he loved it. He wants to go on more hunts with us!

I found it! 03 Nov 2001    Morgan Hill Vista  ( Difficulty: 3    Terrain: 3 )

After finding the Labrador Lagoon cache we thought, ok let's get one more. MAN O MAN I wish I took time to read other's logs here. We did the climb straight up the hill and thought we would never make it to the top! Starting very late in the day wasn't a good idea either. Had 3 deer run past us on the way up. They made the climb look so easy. When we finally reached the top and saw the trails we just looked at each other and said, what were we thinking! I have to say the view is fantasic! It was already getting dark and we spent little time looking at the view. We found the cache at 5:20pm. It only took about 15 minutes to find. We left plastic spoon in a wrapper and a handwipe (we forgot to bring our goodie bag and that's all we could find in the car). We took a book of matches. Getting back to the the car was just as fun as going up. It was very dark and we had one small flashlight. We took the south trail for awhile and when it seemed to go back up the hill again, we decided to just go straight down. I thought we would never make it to the car. All in all it was one heck of an adventure!
