This is a 2 part cache using a micro for the first stage and an ammo can for the second. There is a mild hill to start you off then the terrain levels off.
This is our first attempt at hiding a cache so please let us know what you think. Parking is located off of Rt. 982 in Bradenville at these coordinates: N40°19.458 W079°20.099. This is a well used trail by dirt bikes and quads so it should be an easy walk. |

Open Log: Non-commercial use only I was duely impressed by this cache. For me, geocaching has always been about finding that odd place that you never knew existed. This is definitely one of those! I was pretty tired when I arrived in the metropolis of Bradenville because I had just finished "Trickle Falls" (GC16RZC), a maintenance run on "Bluestone" (N022AC), and a death climb up to "UP,UP,and AWAY!!!" (GC16C3M). After getting myself parked and finding a typical micro in a typical micro hiding place (yawn), I soon discovered that I was in for another hike. My really slick GPS with USGS topographic imagery revealed that I could drive around but it also revealed that there was a more direct route that looked very interesting indeed! I'll quit this game before I "bubba" around an opportunity for an unusual hike like this was. It's not THAT far! There were great views of the surrounding countryside from this unusual "trail". I wondered the whole way to the cache and back about why they had built this, if it was ever used, and why they had stopped using it. I still don't have many answers in spite of my best effort to learn its secret. This was no small piece of work. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't built to service some ordinary coal mine or something along those lines. As near as I can tell, it didn't exist before 1902 and it doesn't look like it went much of anywhere in 1939 or 1967. It actually looks like it might have been a huge mistake! I wonder... If anybody can shed some light for me, I'd certainly appreciate it! The cache was dreadfully exposed and easily found. I left my mark in the logbook and covered it up much better than I found it. I hope we don't lose this one! Thanks so much for showing me this place! Johnny.
