Open Log: Non-commercial use only We love the Five Star and ride it often. I did this cache with my dad and 5 year-old niece. The first stage reminded me of why I dislike micros in parking lots. We had to contend with some muggles in the guise of BestBuy employees who were helping out the Westmoreland County Parks department with a few trail maintenance tasks. After considering it might be buried in a rockpile, stuck on the port-o-john, or lost in the weeds, I hit on the idea to follow the trampled vegetation to the prize and that worked this time around. We brought our bikes to ride the trail but distance was a little far for Pap Pap who had bypass surgery last year. We rode from a somewhat closer parking spot to get at the final which was easily found by following the skid marks. I was reminded that there aren't many good spots to hide a cache along the Five Star and that this is probably why caches haven't prospered there. It wasn't easy getting to the cache even though the conditions were dry and I was wearing good hike boots. My niece desperately wanted to climb up to the cache and she gave it a good try but she just couldn't make it. I had to bring it to her so that we could do our business with it. I don't remember the trades but I do remember that we did some. Thanks for the extra bit of fun in one of our favorite places!

Shared a FTF with Thumpmaster. Was at the first stage earlier but had to leave to take one kid to a music lesson, so took other two kids back to search again. More muggles this time making it really hard to be stealth. Thumpmaster approached while we were trying not to look so obvious. When we realized it was cachers we decided to just keep searching. Older son found first stage. Moved on to second stage, but Thumpmaster beat us to it. Oh well no biggie. At least we can each claim a FTF on this one. Bet that doesn't happen often. TFTC
