A challenging multi-cache. We’re not sure how challenging, so please give us some feedback/suggestions. The first leg is a small decon size Lock-N-Lock Rubbermaid container. There is room for a log book and small trade items. The second cache site is a fairly large Lock-N-Lock style Rubbermaid container. It is approximately the size of a 30 cal ammo container.
This multicache is located in Perkinsville, New York on Sahrle Farms. My grandfather and great-grandfather farmed the surrounding land using teams of horses. When Interstate 390 was built, much of the best land was purchased (or “stolen" according to my grandfather) by the government through the laws of "eminent domain." It was because of this event, that my grandfather purchased the current farm in Wayland, New York. We continue to own this land in Perkinsville as well and it is primarily used as pasture for the young livestock. This cache is located in a gully that my grandfather always referred to as the “big ditch.” Please, park along the road next to the hayfield. (Note: We do not own the property across the road, so please park on the side of the road that will place you closest to the cache site.) Please enter the gully near the road. Please exercise caution when entering and exiting the ravine. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of garbage in the area and I don’t want anyone to get hurt. Your assistance in cleaning up this site would be greatly appreciated. Once you get down in the gully, the site is beautiful. Lets try and make the walk in and out just as spectacular. If anyone asks, you have permission to use this property for geocaching purposes from: Jennifer and Fred Sahrle. Please pay close attention to how the cache was placed and replace it the way it was found. If you have trouble email either of us, thanks. Good luck and happy caching! FTF= TazD Note: This cache was previously posted on geocaching.com. I just became aware of this site and wanted to post my caches here as well. |

Open Log: Personal use only Killerb and I had planned on doing this cache last of 4 this morning but as I neared this spot I just couldn't pass by without at least stopping and trying. I was a bit concerned about this cache seeing that it was a 4-4. We entered the Big ditch and I was looking in one likely area when out of the depths of the forest I heard the words, "Huckle Buckle" and KB had spotted the first leg. It took me a while but I eventually located this one too. Then it was off to the final. I guess I would have to give most of the credit for the find on this one to KB, although both of us were convinced it was hidden were we found it. This was a fun one to retrieve and I was very impressed with the ingenous hide that this final was. Finally we got our hands on the cache and both signed the logbook. I traded a dollar bill for the Yurtles button,(they have the coolest buttons). This cache was a special find for me because it marked my 500th find since I have started geocaching a little over a year ago. Thanks J-Dog and Mama Cass this was a great challenge. -Paleoman52-
